Great Review. You are the first on RU-vid to provide us with usefull comparision video between these Sony DAPs. I think if you upload more videos your channel will grow quickly. So keep on🔥💥👌
@@Goodgrove with the A55 does the clear audio+ even out the sound. What I mean is does it make the a55 sound closer to the A100? If so much better or worse is clear audio + on the a55 compared to the A100 without it on? Is it more bright and vibrant and have a better sound stage ?
I pulled the trigger and got the nwa-55 the battery life was the deciding factor. 5 hours won't cut it, Ican always just bluetooth from the phone to listen to tidal or other apps. Thanks for the video
A105 sounded pretty nice and techically it seemed decent. However, I decided to return mine because the battery life was rather poor. Listening 1hr in airplane mode, no wifi or Bluetooth and the A105 hogged 15% of full battery charge. The screen and functions of the A105 were pretty sluggish, too. I'll keep my A35 that was the top of the line couple of years ago :)
It's just so sad they've removed the Sony equalizer on Xperia and this also doesn't have the VPT surround options. Plus does the equalizer work for third party apps as well?
I have an NW-A45 since November 2019 and I love it. I’ll only upgrade if the sound is notability better. I don’t need streaming. I just want barebones high quality audio.
The last walkman I had was that pebble shaped one from the mid-2000's. I think it was the a3000 or something. All it did was play music, but it was really good at that. It even did gapless play which no player seems to do these days. The only issue was the software (sonicstage) wasn't particularly intuitive. The screen eventually died, so I threw up it away.
Pls make more reviews. Not sure how or why, but I seem to enjoy the fact that you ramble on and never get to the point - I think it is because your passion for these devices really comes through.
I don't know whether to take that as a compliment or a backhanded attack ...but in the spirit of the RU-vid community I can only say thanks for watching...now what exact point did you want ... comments are here for a reason 🤔
Are you able to manually alter the volume of each individual track on the sony device, like on iTunes so that all tracks play at the same volume? I don't mean sound check, which doesn't really work properly on i tunes
Apple is more reliable. An iPhone or iPod from 10 years ago will still have better battery and more storage and will still work. My a45 from 3 years ago just broke. Power button doesn’t work
@@vitorfernandes651 I have a nwz15, nwa55, nwzs615 and they all are still giving me good service, my only issue is that I cannot change the battery easily on the nwa55.
I think it's all in the dac/amp. I'm running a humble A17 Sony Walkman, with a Sony dac/amp, both no longer being made, and it sounds great with 320 kbps and Senn 560s 'phones.
@@Goodgrove Eeer, pardon my ignorance, but what's an ATRAC file? On a more positive note, the Senn 560s are a perfect pairing, but do require over 30 hours of burn in.
Hello, thanks for great comparison! I was wondering, if a105, or another one, support sensme app/functionality? I couldn't find online, in Sony documentations, if sensme was still a thing that they provide to their Walkman players. Thanks in advance!
Hello. Thank for this great review. Is it true that the A105 doesn't support hi-res music on tidal? If it's true, isn't it more reasonable to buy a55 because of both battery and price advantages? Thank you.
I just can not get over the fact that the A105 looks and behaves (and costs) very much like an Android phone, but without the phone capabilities. My choice is still the 55
Because there is no space on the board for phone functionality because it's is used up by audio technology like the amp, the 5 POSCAP capacitors and so on
Great review. Thank You so much :) I just starting thinking about new Walkman after 12 years with mine NWZ-E443 cause the battery is old and the whole player did so many years... It looks wered out. Cause the price is similiar, I'm going to buy anyway the NW-A55L because looking for pure audio player with no lags, bugs, You know what I mean. But the NW-A105 is wonderful :) Maybe after few months I'm going to buy another one Walkman with Android OS. Cheers
Got the A105 from Amazon UK. Love the look n feel of it. Just one thing I've found, it could do with being louder. Thinking about sending it back n getting the Japanese version. How much louder would you say it is? Using wired original Momentum (full volume 120) not enough power, used with Bluetooth IE Momentum 2 (push volume up to max 120 before connecting Bluetooth) these sound better. Also tried Senn HD650 with PA2V2 amp ..... Smooth n nice .... But never like to carry anything with me when out n about. So ..... I want to use the unit with Bluetooth or in ear wired earphones without an amp on the go. How much louder is the Japanese version? Is it worth sending back and 2-4 weeks delivery?
@@Goodgrove Thanks for the reply, I own the NW105 now and those Sony DSP features I mentioned can be used system wide using the Sony sound adjustment app, so it works perfectly fine with Apple music. Edit :typo
It's been three years already... But maybe you can tell me if you continued to use 105. Does it have problems with the memory card? Many players when you put in them the usual128GB class 10 SD card start to work poorly. Does the 105 have this problem? P.S. I plan to take 105 for myself, but I'm very afraid of this problem because I store all my music (20GB) on a memory card.
Ah mate, best review of this! I've spent days debating whether to go for the 105 or the 55. I'd settled on the 105 but then saw the reviews on Amazon UK. Someone said if you get a 105, don't select 'I'm in the EU' to bypass the volume limiter, no idea how true this is though. Still not sure if the 105 is worth the 300 plus quid - Thoughts? By the way, love the way the new screen had a little polish and clean, give it a couple of months and it will be dried on fried egg & cat hair :o) :o) :o)
When the uk leaves the EU soon, hopefully future DAPs sold in the uk won't have all the EU voltage/volume limitations. Am looking to get one from Japan or US. Are you from London? You sound like me and I'm from Peckham haha.
Thanks a lot for your review.I'm in between two models and still thinking about them what to buy.For me it is more priority is sound quality and long lasting battery.Maybe other brands can offer similar players?
I think you better review about the other's than other RU-vidrs was review, just like a100 series review feature as companion, example capability of recording and also ability using GPS map software, that two feature is relevant for a100 series because that as a media player (recording feature) and as premium Android system (GPS feature) so That's other's RU-vidr didn't do that, and Good luck.
Does anyone know if this new Sony connects to a Mac running the latest Catalina? And, when bluetoothed to a car, will it think it's a mobile phone? I have the iBasso DX160 and it has great sound but I have not been able to connect it via USB to my iMac. It's using the same version of Android as my mobile phone yet my phone connects but the DX160 does not. I've been back and forth with iBasso on this and they keep telling me to select the USB for data transfer option but it's not there. I even sent them a video of it not there. The DX160 also keeps acting like a mobile phone when I bluetooth it to the car. Seriously, it asks if I want to make calls.
@@Goodgrove Sorry, you misunderstand. I have the transfer app, that's not the problem. It's that the device doesn't give me an option to select data transfer instead of charging so the Mac doesn't see the device and the transfer app has no way to transfer files. Usually there's a pop-up on the device or similar but my DX-160 does not give me the option of connecting as USB file transfer. My Samsung Galaxy connects just fine; it shows a pop-up to approve the data connection and the file transfer app works great with it.
coolaid710 Thanks for the info coolaid. Can you give me the name please. I want to avoid dodgy Chinese rip offs. Also does the player, play Apple AIFF files.
If you spent a little more time editing your videos, making them a little slicker, I would definitely subscribe as I like your style and content. As it stands, there is a bit too much 'fluff' and 'hicoughs'. Its a busy space to be in. That said you are still miles better than Linus Tech Tips who is just totally annoying. Thanks for taking the time to do these reviews
@@Goodgrove I love what you have to say and your reviews are cool. Please keep it up. Maybe get over to AV Forums or Head-Fi Forums to pimp your videos. Lots of potential subscribers for this kind of gear. I just bought an NW-A55 based purely on your review
that player and android look awesome as a student I dont have data so I do need that FM radio in the mp3 player so I can listen to local music stations without paying for it.
