I think the pink on black is actually kinda nice but I can totally understand how it clashes with the other aggressive features of the knife. On that note though, a softer, less tactical/aggressive color scheme, not necessarily aimed at women, could be cool. In places where knives are looked upon with suspicion, a less 'military' color scheme could turn it into a conversation piece or reduce anxiety/fear in others. As much as I enjoy tactical-looking gear, optics are important if they're ever going to be used in public as a tool.
Re: pink and black, the cormorant looks really good in that color way. The bulldog doesn't look good, but it's not because it has pink on it. It looks bad because it is incongruous. Purple and pink can look really good when tastefully done, much like any color.
Pinks just a color. No different than orange, or blue or whatever. But I definitely agree… choosing pink on a production level is drastically reducing your consumer base.
I think the jimping at the tip of the Bulldog is meant for the index finger whike holding the blade between the thumb and middle finger while keeping the ring and pinky on the handle. Sounds convoluted, but it's goid in animal processing.
orange is not easy to find in the spring summer and fall, as there is a lot of orange colour in plants and fungi, BLUE is the colour we use in forestry to find and locate items or to mark pathways. Orange in winter is great, as there ia a lot of frozen water blue. But one can add a blue cord or blue strapping to it.
I'm 100% with you on the color scheme on the Bulldog. If they just put stainless hardware on that, I would have ordered it. And the name of the knife is super masculine. And I have no problem with pink on a knife, like in fat carbon or something, but thats just like "why".
There's guys who carry pink knives too, I'm one. I'd carry both the Bulldog and that Cormorant (though I would prefer the Cormorant with a turquoise grid to go with that pink)
Orange deckhand is already out… nice idea for boating or gardening (same features for cutting rope apply to harvesting and pruning). But ideally you’d really want a more corrosion resistant steel and zero belly, or even a downward Kant (like the Byrd Cara Cara Rescue).
I’ve never met an officer who cared about the blade length. But I don’t live in a super restricted area. I can carry virtually whatever I want where I live.
Nice selection but don't forget about the Kizer Helmet coming out at the same time. Yeah, legal size is a thing for people who live or work in or near restricted zones but for those of us who don't, I'd rather have it the way the designer wanted it. As far as the Deckhand, why use a semi-stainless on a nautical-themed knife?!?
I would love the bulldog blade shape if it were a fixed blade and at 4 and if the execution of pink and black were more tasteful. I don’t have an issue with pink, but I do have an issue with a boring execution of a color. Great example: hot pink gameboy color was a banger-Great execution of a color where even tough dudes and dudettes would nod their heads in respect
I love my Deckhand, mine came razor sharp. Is Kizer still sending knives with the pouch? I find those super wasteful, what are you supposed to do with them afterwards?
I'm starting to think knife brands might be doing the 3.1" thing on purpose. Like they know people in restricted places are gonna filter knives by "3 inches or less" so they list it as over 3" to avoid legal hair-splitting
I think it’s just as weird to assume pink is meant for women as you find it patronizing to women. Neither of those knives screams “girlie” to me. Also they call it blackpink so it might be a reference. The cormorant is obviously going for 80s neon pink as well.
I really like the shape of that bulldog but I don't care for the color choice even though I rather like pinks especially neon or perhaps a bright purple. For example I own and keep on my keychain my pink victorinox Dessert warrior SD classic. But I don't care for that light pink color tone
overly nosy cop: well well just how long is the blade on that there knife buddy person: oh it's 2.99 inches cop: ok alrighty good to hear there neighborino, just tell me what it's called so I can look it up and verify person: assassin cop: 😳👮♂🚔🚨
I’m a trans woman who happens to carry a black and pink edc kit, I understand your point about it being patronizing that being said I really like the color combo and would love the bulldog if you are willing to part with it
speak for yourself bruh! i think the pink accents are nice and maybe if we wanna attract a different audience of possible enthusiasts the different colors may be the way to do that, nevermind the manly lady dudes who think pink is patronizing and offensive lmao
