The Cobratech Trapper hidden release is a solid, good one-handed knife. It is 4 oz. and is made of D2 steel. Would advise for every day carry. Be advised; it may not be legal in your state. MORE BELOW...

Been using cobratech for while now, first knife bought from them was Diablo and love that knife. For 50 bucks it held tons of drops and abuse so decided to buy more from them because they r affordable. For people who is thinking about buying from them definitely recommend them. Also love ur video and the surrounding sir. ❤

I don't have an auto or OTF because I haven't checked the laws yet in Washington State. I do know if my wife catches me buying another knife, I will need to watch a video about splinting a cracked head.

WA resident here, they are legal to own, but technically not legal to carry. That being said, I have carried autos for years, and cops I’ve come across have never had an issue with them, typically have thought they were cool. That being said if a cop was having a bad day, they could probably confiscate it and or charge you with a misdemeanor

Classic switchblades are side opening Italian stilettos. Which is what you have.

You might want to google historical origin of switchblades.

No a classic switch blade comes out the side not the front.

They should make these knives out of S35VN. It would probably raise the price but I’d still buy it. I really like the design. The only reason I haven’t gotten one yet is because I can’t stand D2 steel.
@SurviveOutdoors
@SurviveOutdoors 8 месяцев назад
Agreed D2 is subject to higher corrosion and more care needed.

Cool knife, just wish it was also able to be opened manually, otherwise it’s an obvious automatic without a visible nail nick or thumb stud.

Can the blade be manually deployed, or can it only be operated by the slide button/switch?
@SurviveOutdoors
@SurviveOutdoors 11 месяцев назад
No it cannot be manually deployed. Just the slide on the bolster.

Im looking at purchasing this knife. Does the blade recess into the handle without touching the back so the blade stays sharp? Thanks

If kept closed for long periods of time, does the spring get ruined? Otf does not.

Have not read about this and have not experienced it. Suppose it's possible. A little WD 40 might help.
@B-leafer

@@SurviveOutdoors was interested in the design, if in closed position, the spring is fully stressed until knife is opened. In this case it should be stored open. I own a knife like that. I store it open so the spring is always fresh.

Dont have the exact knife but have the black hidden release one which is similar concept. After 2 months it is still ok even though i dont abuse this one much as my other ones but dont take my words solely, i dont hunt outdoors or have that many in my collection so still pretty novice when it comes to knives.

Spyderco is the company that makes decent blades and less expensive than Benchmade. Could not think of it at the time.

sir, a switchblade ooens either way..otf or side opener not just an otf as you said
@SurviveOutdoors
@SurviveOutdoors Год назад
Although currently they are referred to both the first was in Germany 1897. In 1922 the switchblade came to USA. To be one hundred percent correct historically the switchblade was OTF however current laws in many states ban both. Some states ban all mechanical knives. Check out history of the switchblade or currently mechanical knives. Ty for the comment. Much appreciated.

The first switchblade patent was an OTF by Novelty MFG (combination blade/screwdriver. However, switchblades go back much further. There were spike/blade bayonets that were spring loaded attached to flintlock pistols back in the mid 1700's. Switchblades are not historically OTF's strictly, but in fact are side opening or OTF.

@johnheintzman5084 Give me some data on that. My research shows OTF made in Germany late 1700s that's awesome if you can direct me to a page.
@SurviveOutdoors
@SurviveOutdoors Год назад
That's the first USA patent yes. However first OTF was Germany 1700s according to what I found.
