L Brothers VS Herculords: Galaxy 2000. 1978 @ the Bronx River Center.
L-Brothers: Busy Bee Starsky, Kevie Kev, Master Rob AKA Robbie Rob, Grand Wizard Theodore, Mean Jean, DJ Cordio
Herculords: DJ Kool Herc, Coke La Rock, Clark Kent
Female MC: MC Smiley is also on this tape
"The Herculoids never get on, on this tape. But much reference is made to the Herculoids by the L. Brothers in fact Kevie Kev or Busy Bee show absolutely no respect to The Herculoids. Saying often that they were no competition. Can you believe today a ticket for a show might cost 25 to 50 dollars. The night after this show at a place called Rock city on 169 and prospect the tickets cost $2 before 12midnite. Female M.C. Smiley even puts here mack down. J.D.L. is called Jerry Lewis at this time."

Amazing it was 1978....the height of the Disco era, Mayor Koch was Mayor of NYC, Jimmy Carter was President........wow such historically relevant stuff and me....I was only 11 years old in Afros and wearing Chuck Taylor's.

This is what hip hop was to me as a little kid. A low quality dub of a mix tape 15 times removed from the master recording. It didn't matter though. Back then, it you just wanted to be down with the sound that was still in its infancy. One love.

Time for an L- Brothers documentary. Went to the Audubon Ballroom, winter, 1977. No heat in the joint. Grand Wizard still killed it. NUTS!! Spring, 77, James Monroe HS, Bx. Theodore vs Flash, possibly the biggest battle in early hip- hop history, gym was packed. Mean Gene, Cordio, Master Rob, Kevi Kev and occasionally the Busy Bee. The L- bros were DOPE!! Theodore, CUTS GALORE, baby!!

Bam didnt start graffitti, he was a graffitti artist. I saw his tags as early as 1974. Graffitti tagging was credited with a cat named TAKI 183, from 183rd Street in the BX. Bombing top to bottoms, look @ Style Wars, its a good complete history. Now the form that is most popular was started by KASE II, which is Wild Style, another good documentary.

Truth,Peace,HTP, Bambaataa wrote graffitti, Breaking @ Bronx River parties was legendary in the streets of the Bronx for the original form of break dancing. Now its interesting that Break dancing could be 1) Break part of record, 2) Break on another dude style wise with your best dance move. Kool DJ DEE was inspired by Pete DJ JONES...who inspired MOST of the Legends...Kool DJ AJ, GM FLASH, Love BUG, Hollywood, MEAN GENE(GW THEODORES older brother), Disco KING MARIO...

I've been trying to find a track for ages that I think is entitled, Brownville. It has a sample at the beginning taken from the World Famous Supreme Team radio show. It's not on any Malcom Mclaren albums and it's not duck rock. The chorus goes, "From Br-Br-Br-Br-Brownsville, Br-Br-Brownsville." It's got a fast tempo to it. Any help would be great!

Thanks, but that's not the right one. Same 'brownsville' sample but different song. The one I'm after starts of with the Supreme Team radio show which goes into the song - probably around 120bpm.

...actually it is the ending part to the "World's Famous" song by McLaren/Supreme Team! On the D'ya Like Scratchin' EP, it leads into "Hobo (Scratch)"! On the 12 inch version, it is NOT a part of "Hobo (Scratch)"! Peace...
