I absolutely love niacinamide. I appreciate you letting us know about the headache inducing fragrance & pilling. I would be most disappointed if I purchased this and couldn't use it on my face. You look extra beautiful today. 🌹
Yes, I don't buy either LRP serums because they are too strong for my sensitive skin and they are pricey too. Dr. Dray's review confirms what I' ve suspected about the 10% of Niacinamide. Thank you Dr. Dray for your LRP Niacinamide 10 review.
I love this product so much, I bought it for everyone in our family. I didn’t even notice a smell, but perhaps the formula is different in Europe. My daughter had keratosis pilaris on her arms and it just disappeared, same on my thighs. I recommend it to everybody.
I’ve actually started using this recently and absolutely love it! I feel like I’m finally seeing my dark spots lightening (in conjunction with a Vitamin C) and have not had any issues with irritation, redness, or issues layering my other skincare and makeup.
I am just loving your makeup, and your hair is looking so lovely, too! Thank you for giving so much information and instruction how to use them, the advantages of using them, and everything to be aware of when using them. I very much appreciate you informing us of the quality of different products, and the prices, and informing us of cheaper options, if they are available. I only wish that there was a dermatologist local to me, who is as informative, and talks so freely and openly as you!
for hexyl resorcinol, i've been pleased with the kbeauty brand Bellflower's Glutathione brightening cream. 5% niacinimide, arbutin, glutathione, licorice too! slightly silicony cream texture but layers nicely under moisturizer if you use a small amount. also the best part- retails $13 for 1 oz! Fragrance free of course
Glutathione take care from it Don't used for long time So before use any thing pls check analysis General blood test Biochemical blood analysis Ldl. HDL Glycated hemoglobin Ferritin Transfer achievements B12 Td3 t4 Ultrasound of the abdominal cavity
I used to use The Ordinary 10% niacinamide without any problems. I now use 0.05% Tretinoin with 5% niacinamide in it which I get from a dermatologist. I haven’t found the need to add any more niacinamide products. Especially as so many moisturisers, etc also contain niacinamide.
I received a free sample bottle with a skincare order. The strong perfume is not only incredibly overwhelming & sickly, but I dislike the smell itself. The smell remained on my face & hands well into the next morning. I had to throw it away. The companys response to this issue was that as it is hypoallergenic perfume and many people like it, if you don't like it that's just you.
Poor company response - why have fragrance at all? No one is not going to buy it because it doesn’t have fragrance but they lose customers because it DOES have fragrance.
This is why I don't buy most of their products! If they would at least offer a non fragrance one, in some of their best selling products, at least make it fair to everyone across the board!
@@LiLi-ps5vb I always buy the unfragranced and unscented option! There are only a very few handful of products that I have that have fragrance in them, and the ones that I have come from a natural ingredients in it not because they added fragrance to it! I use Prescription Retin-A Tretinoin Cream, and I absolutely cannot tolerate anything that is sensitizing on my face especially fragrance! Anyone who uses Tretinoin Cream will understand what I mean, It's a Wonderful game-changing product but it makes your skin very delicate and sensitive! So as good as some of their products are, I just CANNOT use them! Because they don't RESPECT all their customer base, like myself and you obviously, that DON'T want fragrant products!!!
WOW!!!! 😮 not a great response from a company. They need to take into consideration not everyone wants scents & perfumes in all their products. I've gotten extremely sensitive to fragrance in both my skin care & makeup.
I mean, what did you think the response would be? I think all they can really say is sorry you don’t like it, unless there are many many customers speaking up about hating the scent I doubt they would choose to change it.
La Roche Posay claims they use 100% synthetic fragrance and it’s tested so it’s not irritating which I prefer to all these other essential oils that are way more irritating for my skin.
Argh...I'm so reactive to niacinamide! Really appreciate that you call it out in your reviews as it's saved me a lot of money when thinking about trying new skin care.
Me too! I've finally accepted that it just doesn't work for my skin. I'm fine if it's one of many ingredients in a product, but if it's listed as one of the first/only ingredients, like a niacinamide serum, I'm almost guaranteed to break out with tiny pimples and perioral dermatitis, and then start itching like crazy. I have the same issues when I use a hyaluronic acid serum. I just can't use either as a specific stand-alone serum, especially on my face. I do have a body serum/lotion that has both in it, which my skin just loves! But the niacinamide serum from The Ordinary is my face's arch nemesis! I used to be really bad about buying whatever the new hot products were, just assuming they would work for my skin because it seemed as if they worked for everyone else and their second cousin.
Have you tried a lower concentration? Most stand-alone products have it at 10%, and I don't know the percentage of all the products that list it as an ingredient, but I've been using Derma Geek's niacinamide cream and it's 3.5%. It hasn't exactly been a magic ingredient for my sensitive, oily, rosacea skin, but it doesn't irritate it either. Good luck.
I bought this before I started watching Dr Dray & my skin enjoys it! I don't have sensitive skin though. I just liked the colourful look of the LRP serum bottles & they were on 50% sale, so gave them a go.
Hello dr Dray. ❤ In Europe we have this serum since last year and it helped me a lot with skin discoloration and dark spots. Strongly recommend to anyone to give it a try . I used it daily under my sunscreen.
I bought it on a whim (from Europe too). Broke me out, stinged and I quickly noticed it impairing my skin barrier. very heavily fragranced, also in EU version, and the dropper is the worst.
The fragrance is very mild. I used it around my eyes also with no problem and I have very sensitive skin there and what is more I cannot tolerate any fragrance on my face
I am post-Accutane so my skin’s “personality” has changed, and I decided I want to become pregnant later this year so my derm has altered my skincare routine to accommodate these changes, and she recommended me this today! I live in a tropical, humid environment so my body is frequently sweaty, oily (hello 3-5 showers at minimum a day- common in Brazil), dealing with acne scars and pigmentation, as well as skin barrier concerns, so voilà. I am pretty sensitive and reactive to many products, but I trust LRP, even with their products heavy on sulfates and fragrance, I’m surprised I have had consistently good results. Thank you for your review, I have decided to buy and slowly incorporate this serum to my new routine.
That Rosacare has been phenomenal in reducing my redness! I think I heard you talk about it for 3 years before finally trying it because I thought it was more like a color corrector. Don't know if it's the licorice or what, but it's certainly helped calm my rosacea 👍 Thanks!
Im using The Ordinary 10% Niacinamide + Zinc. I only use 2 drops, 1 for each side. Love it. If i missed using it for 2 or more consecutive days, my face gets really dry.
I live in Paris and this LRP Niacinamide 10% already came out since before Nov 2022. I bought it in Nov 2022, and no kidding...only after 2 days of using it only on my chin, I got so many pustules there, and my chin has been struggling to heal the redness since then... I think it was too irritating for me the 10%. Before I purchased it, I read reviews on Influenster saying that it was a good product. However, not for me, no. :(
Happy Monday Dr. Dray! I’m good with Paula’s Choice and the level I use now. Unless I see something drastic I think I’ll stick with what I’m using. Have a great week everyone.
I was happy to see Avene's Hyaluron Activ B3 because it does NOT have fragrance, propanediol or alcohol, none of which I can use and are hard to avoid, but LRP should be ashamed of themselves for this one.
I bought this a couple of days ago. I don't mind the smell and I can't say that it lingers or gives me headaches although I'm usually really sensitive to smell. My skin is very sensitive and I have rosacea but this serum doesn't sting at all. Actually it feels like a lotion, leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated all day long. No pilling so far. I bought it in Germany, maybe we have different ingredients? I like it so far. But I will try one of the cheaper options mentioned in the video.
I found out the hard way what too much niacinamide can do to skin. My skin can tolerate up to 4% total. I had to choose only one product that contains niacinamide. All my other skincare products do not contain it anymore. My skin would not simply sting but actually burn. It caused so much irritation that I felt like my skin was becoming tissue paper thin. After removing all but 4% niacinamide, I was able to restore my moisture barrier and my skin looks and feels good again.
I confess I bought it last year, and I love it. It helped disappear a little melasma on my cheek, I have not given a thought to the perfume a tall to today, by the way, I am not allergic to perfume. I actually use all Laroche Possay serums other than the retinol, because I am on tretinoin, sorry to disagree
@@DrDrayzday Hello, yes I live in Mexico city, and I am also fussy about strong smells they give me head aces too, but luckily my serum has not bothered me, have a good evening, and many thanks for your super cool advice
Thanks Dr. Dray! I have been using the Peace Out Dark Spot Serum with the Peace Out Dark Spots and have seen some improvement in my dark spots. I will try the PCA serum.
speaking of toooooo strong fragrance in skincare, i recently started using vichy normaderm phytoaction acne control daily moisturizer i had to stop using it bc its literally the strongest fragrance ive ever encountered in skincare
Avene's clay mask is the same for me, the scent makes no sense, it's so heavy like someone sprayed actual perfume in my face. It's all I can think about while it's on.
I love Niacinamide as well as it really tightened my pores and overall made my skin more healthy...but it does give me the flush effect as I have sensitive skin so if I used it in the morning my whole face looks like I've been sunburned so I rather use it in the evening. But I am expecting Azelaic acid soon to see if that could help with my overall redness as well...
I have been using the ordinary’ s niacinamide serum for about 6-7 years. I bought it because it has zinc in it. I was looking for a zinc serum to put on my scalp to help with my dandruff, then i found out it was good for my acne and acne scars
Appreciate the review. Seems overpriced. My sensitive skin doesn't tolerate niacinamide or hyaluronic acid so it would be a no for me even if I wanted to pay that price. Thanks as always for all of your hard work. Happy Monday, Dr Dray! Hope you have a blessed evening. 💞
Curious about using Procure Rosacare but I'm hearing that hyaluronic acid can cause more inflammation. That's what I'm trying to avoid for my fussy red face. Another ingredient that's in EVERYTHING. Trying to cut it out is proving nearly impossible.
I have sensitive acne prone skin and I can't tolerate hyaluronic acid at all. Its been a challenge to find skin care that doesn't contain it. I've been using the Aveeno Calm and Restore oat moisturizer that Dr Dray recommends and am having good luck with it. Good luck! 😊
Dr Dray, Have you ever been to Aldi? Not sure if they have them in Texas, but yesterday I found they now sell Aveeno daily moisturizing lotion dupe for only little over $3!! Its amazing.! Thank you for sharing your knowledge as always 💕🌸
Watching this while removing this product from my face!, I didn’t know that it contains perfumes, and I used it for two days, and my skin became irritated, burned, and made me feel itchy lol, now i just washed my face and i put LRP cicplast b5 to make my skin comfortable and it’s still itchy🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
This lady actually tells the truth. Im coming back after 2 years. She talked about la mer. What about the mela3 b serum from laroche? It is the new one. My friend works at the pharmacy and today im gonna go back to decide if I want this serum or the new melab3 serum. I started using Laroche posay last year after having used brands like dermalogica, filorga, estee lauder, lancome, Shiseido, Origins....I found laroche posay works well with sensitive skin. Origins is too harsh on the skin. Lancome and Estee Lauder has too much fragrance and plumps skin too much making you look like you had Botox. Filorga is good but I would advise for very mature skin. Since it plumps skin too much. Rituals is also a very good brand.
Wish LRP would ease off on the parfum! So unnecessary in skincare products. Bought their UV400 sunscreen from a French pharmacy and had to give it away bc the fragrance was so strong. Got the non-fragrance and it's perfect.
I have papulopustular Rosacea and I use the vichy mineral 89 probiotics fractions serum (the active in this is Niacinamide, it has 4% percent) it doesnt burn and it doesnt hurt my pustules. It is safe to try ♡
I used the ordinary 10% and it caused redness and irritation on my neck but on my fave it stinged but was tolerated, after that i just used it on my face.
LRP puts niacinamide in their Lipikar AP line for dry and eczema prone skin. I use their Lipikar AP cleansers and body cream and can tolerate that. This might be a good alternative for people who want a more comfortable niacinamide product from LRP. I don't have a good niacinamide serum/lotion for my face but I'm not sure I would like this with the strong scent. My vitamin C product already has a strong scent.
Thank You for the Fragrance warning. I have an irritation to Fragrance- Head aches, Block Nose- watery eyes-. If someone with lots of "wench stench" on kisses me on the cheek and I get the fragrance on my hair- then I will be washing my hair at 2am because I cant sleep.
Dr Dray, I always enjoyed some of Eucerin's products but was terribly disappointed in it new Vit C serum It smells like perfume. I tried it however as it is not inexpensive...but broke out in bad excema which lasted for a number of days and could only clear up with a prescription steroid cream.
Appreciate this info. Could you please review the "olay ultimate niacinamide +vitamine +peptide 24 " serum from Sam's Club? Thanks for all your hard work.
Thanks for the advice on quantity to use. I was definitely using too much. I will not buy another LP serum due to his price and bad ingredients like alcohol and perfume.
Hello Dr Dray,I'm new your channel.Your videos are very honest and informative!! Also in today's video on Niacinamide some go as high as 20%..So probably not effective? Paula has a 10 and 20% that I have sampled .I'm not Sue if it's working better than 10% that I have tried..Anyway I will have to start watching more of your videos and catch up!@ Thank you..Sue❤
I have this product at home since the beginning of the year (it came in a pack with HYALU B5 and PURE VITAMIN C10) but I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet. I confess I'm curious.
Thanks so much for this video dr dray, i have been confuse about using a seperate niacinamide since my BOJ essence already has 2percent niacinamide and my face moisturizer also contains niacinamide.
I have 3 different moisturizers that I use and surprisingly none of them have niacinamide which is actually annoying bc I don't want to have to buy a separate serum. But I really like these moisturizers 😭
If you are interested in switching or additing one with niacinamide, the La Roche Posay Double Repair plus the Triple Repair Moisturizers have it. Kind of flakes off on me (and a bunch of other people but not nearly everyone) though, so I doubt I'll repurchase. ELF Superhydrate Moisturizer, Eucerin CoQ10, Purito Centella Unscented Recovery Cream, Cerave PM, CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream, and Gold Bond Ultimate Pure Moisture Lotion also have it.
I've tried almost all la roche posay serums, but I've only tried each one of them one time because I couldn't tolerate any of them. They all feel like a bottle of perfume. My eyes start to burn even before putting them on.
Hey Dr. Dray - always finding great info with you. I have a question - do you know the cream Rosiver ? My dermatologist has suggested me using it, well it has been 3 months and it is working really well, not one blemish since using it. It is expensive but what a great product.
Hello Dr. Dray this doesn't have to do anything with this video but I wanted to know your thoughts on the ant wrinkle serum from Maelys. It's their B -glossy for firming skin. Can you review this please. Love your video very informative ❤
Dr Dray knows her stuff!!! Thank you for all your help ! I am trying to get to the bottom of some skin issues that have arisen a month or so ago. I’m 62 and have fair skin and never had any problems with my skin. However recently I’ve been noticing redness and small breakouts on my cheeks and have purchased the Ordinary Azelaic acid and have been using it for approximately 2 weeks. I’ve been using Aveeno calming oat gel over it - and still have breakouts. I’m hoping with time everything will calm down and I won’t be seeing so many breakouts and redness. Is anyone else experiencing a skin problem like mine and do you have any suggestions???
I have a question. What can you say about "UV lotions" without SPF rating? Is it enough? Or do they work for sun protection? To be specific, VASELINE have the GLUTA-HYA line and the "flawless glow" variant claims to be a UV lotion. What can you say about this?
I wish they had come out with a good combo serum that was fragrance free. I would rather see a new hyaluronic acid with squalene, licorice root, and other good active products .
Sad to hear a day after I brought this. Do you recommend I stop using completely or use until finished and then get a better one with no harmful ingredients and lower %?
The product is fragranced and gave me a bad rash when I used it 😢 I never reacted to a skin product this way before. My skin is pretty resistant. It bummed me out because it’s kind of expensive and I’m stuck with it now . I’ll try use it on my body.
I agree with you on the fragrance side, it is strong and it lingers. I'm very sensitive to scents. My skin, however, takes it very well at that concentration, but given the price and fragrance, I much prefer Vichy Liftactiv B3 serum which is 5% niacinamide, but I have very good result from it. On top of that, it's not scented AT ALL. I really have no clue where La Roche was going with the fragrance on this one 😅 I love my La Roche, but not this one.
@@angelicamajorca I only have mild acne problem, and the changes I made stopped all acne, except hormonal ones right before my period, but I do have a feeling it is healing quicker. Some dark spots had faded, but it hasn't been a year yet. Here's what I have: - La Roche Toleriane foaming facial wash: wash once a day, daily. - Vichy Liftactive B5 serum apply before bed. - La Roche Effaclar Duo: an acne spot treatment. Use only when I have an acne. It is what I used in the beginning, along with daily face wash, to get rid of all bumps on my forehead. I can't keep up consistently with any more product.
I know niacinamide is recommended in supplement form for people who’ve had BCC/SCC skin cancers to reduce future growths (my derm recommended it after removing a few skin cancers - and the research is easy to find on the internet). Any research supporting it’s application to the skin to prevent skin cancers ?
@@sr28774 All LRP products available in Malaysia are exactly the same as the ones available in Europe. I’ve not tried LRP’s Niacinamide serum because I like The Ordinary’s one a lot and it is also a lot cheaper than LRP’s.
I used loreal niacinamide (the purple bottle) my doctor told me about it's liquid it doesnt smells unpleasant like you said maybe you disagree cause youre not geting paid like with other produc cause it works very nice also they patent it until 2036 you use much expensive products and they pay you for the publicity
Idk but the new ingredient in it called melasyl is marketed as working against all types of hyperpigmentation no matter the source. Its def worked for me but my pigmentation is pretty mild
I appreciate your honest review, although you were given it for free. I think it makes LRP angry and ask you to give them their bottle back 😄.By the way the claim it contains 5% HEPES (a gently exfoliating acid) ,which you didn't talk about it. Is the formulation different from Europe and US?
I think it is a little inaccurate to refer to phenylethyl resorcinol as resorcinol. Resorcinol's derivatives including phenylethyl resorcinol, or SymWhite 377, have been cult favorite ingredients in Asia. According to Symrise, its manufacturer, its skin whitening effect is comparable to 1% kojic acid when used in 0.5% concentration.
Dr dray what moisturizer you recommend for cystic acne in this summer, summer is already here in Pakistan and i don't feel like moisturising although I'm also using topical acne treatment with cerave foaming cleanser but i really wanna incorporate a soothing product that don't irritate my cystic acne plus don't make me greasy /trigger more breakouts
If you have oily skin n prefer lightweight moisturizer, here is some recommendations: - Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion - Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream (this one is DrDray's favorite) - Hatomugi Conditioning Gel (she's currently using this based on yesterday video) Hope this help.
@@verde_ms Thankyou so much, i can't source the last one, the cerave lotion i used last year and i didn't feel like it helped me out because on days when my skin was irritated due to acne and tretinoin use it didn't soothe or maybe i was expecting more, i am skeptical about middle one due to Hyluronic acid as what if it irritates while using retinoids.
@@memoonasaeed4408 If you're looking for something soothing n not stinging irritated skin, there's Cetaphil. Both the Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion and Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream are basic and don't sting like Cerave do (sometimes), but Cetaphil does contain more oils, so they have greasy feel and dewy finish.
I bought this yesterday in a pack with the Pure Vitamin C and the Hyalu B5 Serum. I did not see your review prior to my purchase, but I thought that the pack was a bargain and a good opportunity to try all three products. The fragrance of the Niacidamide is rather strange and lingering. It is quite difficult to understand what the fragrance is. It is not like it is herbaceous, but it is woody….but just odd. This is day 1 so I will see how I go.
So much fragrance added because vitamin Bs stink. I’d like to try it at night but strong fragrance (any perfume) disrupts my sleep. La Roche Posay mineral sunscreen is the only one I can use around my eyes.
Thanks for the review, seems like this was not really a necessary product. I think I will keep my wallet closed for this one. Thank you for all your hard work!
In Europe it luckily contains no fragrance - I agree this has limited use ability. Unfortunately the piling makes it impossible to use under makeup, the dropper is so clumsy and messy and it tends to dry on the skin with a serious white chalky tone. Disappointing for the price ……
