It is heartbreaking for me and my family to see what has happened to Calvary Chapel after pastor Chuck's passing . God did a tremendous world reaching work through Chuck Smith and Calvary Chapel . I treasure everything that we learned during the four years that we attended Calvary Costa Mesa in the early to mid 1980s . Sadly Calvary Chapel passed away with pastor Chuck , even thought there are a few Calvary's that are still following the pattern of Bible teaching Chuck followed , and thank the Lord for them . Can't wait to see pastor Chuck when we all get to our heavenly home. Keep lookin' up , it won't be long now . 😊
After Chuck’s death my husband and I left… It seemed to us that Brian couldn’t wait to get rid of everything that represented Chuck. The feel of the church had definitely change… We felt the Holy Spirit had left the church

I weep everytime I read Pauls farewell in the book of Acts and how he warned the saints at Ephesus about the wolves that would come to try to destroy them. Now, I weep for Calvary Chapel saints who need to stay close to the Lord and each other for protection from the evl one. I went to the Costa Mesa church from the tent then came back in 76..It was right on. Greg Laurie doesn't connect with his teaching..I'll leave it at that but I sense there is something not right with Greg.
I attended for over 22 years almost every Sunday. I left a few years ago and attended a few different Calvary's trying to patch things up with my wife. It didn't work out and she left me. I went back to Harvest once... there was an empty feeling. It no longer felt like home. I was just a number in some corporate organization.
I'm hearing major issues that these huge ministries are having. you not only have no real fellowship you wind up noticing all the silly theology of others and no fellowship at all. I'd stay far away from any huge Harvest or calvary, I personally think they are falling into the health and wellness business and just stroke people for $$$. They all earn up to 500k per year in salaries. They have their circuit of Calvary speakers and no one really new, they all must be on the payroll to keep the Coming Apocalypse extravaganza money coming in with a new talk every month. Wow ... I knew I felt it gone ...it's actually began quite awhile back. I hadn't been to Harvest after moving and when i went and saw the sanctuary was darkened without windows .. NO !! That's wrong to shut out Gods beautiful light I thought. But not only that nothing was the same and then here in Oregon I noticed John Coursen was different and I felt funny around him. Then Ben took over as of recently and let people know that Bethel Redding wasn't bad at all , intact they just worship differently he said ..I said WHAT ... oh that's it .. then I saw Greg and Him at different conferences and cruises with prosperity preachers. It just kept getting crazier. I then see Greg preaching in Australia and his eyes , they looked demonic and all the Australians were pointing it out as if was plain as day and I took a screen shot and I couldn't believe this manifestation was in our faces , then after Peter John Coursen died they really let loose .( I think Peter wasn't apart of it ) now I see John on RU-vid looking not just way aged in a matter of months but features that looked like manifestations and I felt sick. I know this sounds maybe crazy but it was a process I watched over time and not something I accepted at first glance. John side hugged me one day and his grip felt creepy, his wife , well I wont say too much but how about 1 kings 18 ...

In 94 I started to listen to Chuck Smith, the teachings was always free. When Chuck passed in 2013 I watched Calvary chapel church turn to the evil ways of this world. I no longer have anything to do with Calvary chapel church, the worship with their lips but their hearts are far from the true and loving God. I also had my own personal bad experience with the Rockingham Calvary chapel church here in New England, Plaistow Hampshire. Please don't turn away from your faith, turn away from those wolves in sheep clothing

That's pretty sad how they got rid of Paul, Chucks own brother! That says a lot and this makes sense now as far as Brian and his wife I never ever could figure out why the Holy Spirit never spoke to me through them i tried many times to listen and it left me feeling confused each time. I thank God that my Calvary chapel home church is sticking with the pure Word of God. But I'm keeping my eyes open.
I accepted the Lords invitation while listening to Chuck, I wasn’t from Costa Mesa so I followed him from afar. But over the years I have been blessed by many different pastors from the Calvary branch, but just like you I have listened to Brian a few times and I just don’t get feed by the Holy Spirit. I pray that he would return to the original Calvary ideas , but all I see is a further split. So sad but it has happened to many churches and denominations over the years.

Had Pastor Chuck's tapes with me, as I had to travel from the Kenia to Anchorage. Many tapes! Of all things, Pastor Chuck was teaching on the signs of a cult...Dah! the church in Soldota fit most every point! 4 hour drive, one way.. So thankful I moved the tapes to Alaska with me! and his teaching...! Blessings...

If necessary the elders and the board of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa need to meet and discuss this matter. Issues with Pastor Brian need to be resolved as equitably as possible. The calling of teaching the Bible chapter by chapter, verse by verse. This goes above Chuck Smith and lies at the feet of our Lord.
They divided the church in court already. One is Calvary chapel global Network with Brian and modernism versus the Calvary chapel council association which holds Chuck Smith beliefs.
I agree! I was born and raised in Calvary chapel ways. But since Chuck passed and Steve May's past, I had to find a new home. CC South Bay has a different feel. Wanting to be modern over a great message. I just realized there was dissention within the leadership. I don't feel the new messages are inspired. What teaching is better than reading through the Bible?
Chuck Smith's verse by verse teaching and attending Calvary Chapel, Colorado Springs, is what allowed me to grow in the Lord and accompanied me on my assignments overseas. Chuck's teaching was a comfort for the loneliness. When Pastor Chuck went to be with the Lord, I felt like my father had died. I knew that Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa, would not be the same. The fall from grace, left your first love. CC needs to return to the verse by teaching. Feed the people the Word of God. Your topical sermons are boring. The power struggle needs to end or Calvary Chapel will join the list of apostate churches.

When Pastor Chuck passed, it was like losing a good friend I sat and talked to each day. I was so used to hearing his voice in my home through the radio. Immediately the station changed, it just isn't the same. It lacks the Word, it seems.

@Aubieone --- Hello. If we read the whole Bible, from Genesis onward, it is very often that families / family members ARE the problem. Joseph was not liked by his brothers and The Lord Jesus Christ was no believed to be the Messiah by his family members until after the Resurrection. The first murder was done by a brother to a brother. Lots of family squabbles and "backstabbing's" in Holy Writ. The Apostle Paul made a warning that after he was dead, there would be many folks that would try to change the path and cook-up "new" stuff. I used to listen to Pastor Chuck's cassette tapes thru the "Tape Lending Library". I attended one of the outlying branch Calvary Chapels and then another two later on as C.C. C.M./S.A. was too far of a drive. Chuck Smith's teachings / ideas were his own (he was ordained as a "Foursquare" church pastor, but he left them and came up with his own flavor. Even back then I was a new convert / Born-Again believer ....(from 1979 to 1989).... there were Calvary Chapel associate pastors at smaller and large Calvary Chapels in southern California that were NOT teaching / believing what Chuck Smith taught at "Big Calvary". When I complained about one horrible "new" Pastor to Big Calvary, the phone lady said: "We are NOT a denomination! Each Chapel can do what they want to do!" Ugh! I replied by saying that they had a Bible school, a bookstore and a directory of other "Calvary Chapels" and a church camp in the mountains for all "Calvary Chapel" affiliates chapels/members. She did not answer me, so I hung up. I left that smaller C.C. that went bad with a new pastor {C.C.L.M.}, and attended then joined a traditional denominational church with an elected "Supervisor". If there is problem in the congregation with the Pastor, the member can call or write the District Supervisor/Bishop. This bad thing (mentioned in the video by Paul Smith) with son-in-law Brian Broderson and also the problems with his son (Chuck Smith Jr.) are the problem when there is an "Association" of churches/chapels/assemblies instead of a Bishop led Denomination style group that has a set down / printed set of By-laws and "Beliefs" that must be adhered to. There are/is either an annual / bi-annual or 4-year convention where attenders discuss and vote on rules/regulations/by-laws/finances/leadership/Mission activity. Independant groups led by self-anointed people often cause problems.

I'd be interested to know how Skip Heitzig, Raul Reis, Greg Laurie, Robert Furrow and Terry Long (my pastor) feel about this issue. Personally, I'm appalled about this, but I haven't heard the "other side" of the story. I will say this, if Calvary is moving toward Reformed Theology, my 30-year search to find a church whose theology lined up with mine (which ended when I found Calvary in 2000) may start again..
Calvary Chapel Association is a good place to start. CCA has carried on where Pastor Chuck left off. Brian B. removed himself and started Calvary Global Network. The CCA has not wavered from the long standing tradition of teaching the WHOLE Bible scripture by scripture.
CC Global Network (Broderson's group, not CCA) reminds me of RINOs (Republicans In Name Only). They are CCINOs (Calvary Chapel in Name Only). I've heard that because CC Costa Mesa owns the rights to the logo, Broderson will soon "remove the dove" from CCA churches that don't join CC Global Network. Church splits can be nasty and this one is turning out to be a humdinger!
I know Dave very well.He picked up his first Bible for study 65+ years ago. He's probably studied it a lot more than you have. He's a true Biblical scholar who has taught the Bible to more people than I could count, all the way up to the university level. That, of course, doesn't make Dave or "Reformed Theology" right or wrong. That debate has been going on almost 500 years. No one will solve it this side of Heaven. I know Dave wouldn't say anything, but I don't think he would appreciate your condescending remarks. His post wasn't about Reformed Theology anyway. It was about the split in Calvary Chapel.
A person can study the Bible 1000 years and it means zero (except that he lived very long). Calvary Chapel is a factory of almost countless false teachings that rob naive, man trusting people of the precious truths of the Gospel and ultimately will wipe them out unless God in His mercy shows them.
I was in Calvary Chapel for about 10 years (in the 2000's) and it is sad to see a split looming like this. Still, I wish this video had contained more specifics. Why point out the existence of the problem without the relevant details?
A sad thing for what happened to take place!!! I was a lead of a home study. All I can say is, I never felt comfortable with him! Something felt off, or wrong, never accepted him as listening and accepting . Sadly what I picked up turned out to be true!!!

Chuck Smith believed that Christians can lose their salvation. All his early pastors which, he ordained, also believed the same thing. That means none of them including all the people going to the Calvary Chapels did not have the security of the believer. As the Bible says, Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you, were words that was never imembedded in their hearts.

Please hear me out I'm trying to reach your heart I heard up your brother I know what he did and I'm just trying to reach your heart I want you to understand something okay the churches are going to be judged first okay I want you to know this and I need you to understand that anyone who would put themselves under Authority is going to be judged by God more harshly so I want you to know that your brother is going to be judged by God more harshly how he handled the house of God okay that's what the Apostle Paul says now here's something very true and I want you to understand this any church or anyone who says you have to repent of your sin in order to be saved they have a false gospel I just pray that your brother was not one of them who believe such nonsense because repenting of sins is another way of saying keep the law of God because sin is the transgression of the law of God that's all I have to say to you I want you to make sure that you are believing the true gospel simple faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ that's what saves a man go in peace

Sadly, Chuck Smith denied the resurrection of the flesh of the saints. Chuck plainly taught (go check the tapes) that the "resurrection" of Christians occurs at their death. Chuck even mocked the possibility of the resurrection of the dead (its all on tape folks). Paul The Apostle, by The Holy Spirit, equated the denial of the resurrection of the saints with the resurrection of Christ Himself. Chuck and Calvary present a falsde Christ, and a false Gospel of Arminianism/Wesleyism--and worse, they conceal this fact to trusting followers who trustingly absorb these terrible doctrines. Furthermore, they add dispensationalism to the mix, to make a bunch of really messed up people. The best thing that can happen to Calvary Chapel is that it crumbles....
Pastors and speakers at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa and other Calvary chapels looked too much on Chuck Smith rather than Jesus Christ. I blame all that on Chuck Smith himself.
Calvary Chapel is not of God. It is a Decoy Church satan has used to miss-lead the masses. This will be made evident after the rapture takes place. This breaks my heart. Chuck was an awesome man. It hurts me to see what other's have done to the pure ministry that Chuck started through the power of the Holy Spirit.
The problem with Calvary mode or method is the "Moses" way of doing church,one Pastor with no Elders.CLEARLY in the book of Acts Paul would ALWAYS when forming a local Church,find suitable Elders Plural more than one,A true Church is going to have a Plurality of Elders and Deacons
@@michaelorr9253, the Calvary Chapel I went to has Elders. I know every Calvary Chapel is different, Pastors decide how they want things to run, if they want to keep total control or if have Elders and others to help run the church.
Just look at the state of CCCM and the downfall of Brian Brodersen today. As a staunch liberal, Brian is severely compromised with wokeness/wickedness, and he has squandered the entire surplus the Lord had blessed Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa with through Pastor Chuck's Godly wisdom and discipline over many decades. Personally and in ministry, Pastor Chuck Smith lived very humbly, and he was quite frugal in all areas. On the other hand, Brian Brodersen is the total opposite. The greatest loss; other than Pastor Chuck's absence (yet, heavens gain), is the loss of TRUTH.
@@michaelorr9253 You are correct. The office of "senior pastor" is totally unbiblical. The "Moses model" is unbiblical. Tithing is unbiblical. There is so much going on in the church that is not in the Bible that is absolutely mind boggling. Elders are there for accountability as well. But the "senior pastor" cannot be questioned. At least at the Calvary I used to attend.

Thank You for standing by your brother, and for all the years of faithful teaching along with him. The key element of truth is right in the title of this video.." NEW leadership TAKING OVER Calvary Chapel". It is NOT leadership, it is controlled, and the words "TAKING OVER" is just that. They are TAKING and NOT GIVING & TEACHING in humble submission to God's Will. Chuck never did that! Chuck was like a second father to me growing up. I was there when "the little chapel" was brand new. Few of us have been blessed to be there from the humble beginning. How my heart hurts to see this happen. I will NEVER believe Romain, or You were ever "senile", and testify unto GOD that Chuck was NEVER without his sound mind and heart. Chuck saw this descent coming and so did I. One day I was denied seeing him as " I was not a written member of the church and therefore could not speak with him without prior authorization!". I was furious and said so. Chuck heard my voice in his office and knew me, came out, and asked me " Ahhh Bettie, what's wrong?" I told him the church had changed. They were no longer the church I grew up in and it didn't feel like "Home" any longer. The pastors were judgmental, arrogant, and too full of pride. To deny me seeing my true pastor since I was just a child and tell me I needed to get approval to see you and get in line & needed prior authorization?" I did not feel the Spirit of God in LOVE as it used to be. I felt a heartbreaking unrest and division with judgmental confusion that had never been there. Some pastors were "bending" the word to justify their personal desires and that CANNOT BE ALLOWED! Chuck just hung his head in shame. I will never forget it. He said he was sorry. He feared it was a product of " fame and progress that may cloud our human senses and allow Satin a disguised entry. He was, and always would be my PASTOR. He was there to serve and help through the love of God". We prayed & cried together. Chuck knew things were not as they should be. Once a person has known the true leadership and guidance of God through the absolute scripture as it is written they will not forget it. When that knowledge and trust is taken away, they don't know what they are missing & it will never be replaced again. This "new age church" is NOT what GOD desires. The truth as God spoke it in the Bible states issues very clearly. You are either WITH HIM OR AGAINST HIM. I would caution Brian, Cheryl, and all in charge now to read Rev 22:18-19 and THINK about what they are doing. If any man shall ADD anything to this book, God will add unto him the plagues of this earth..and if they SHALL TAKE AWAY from the words of this book, God shall take away his part OUT of the book of life... take caution. I used to attend the main Calvary Chapel under Chuck Smith for a few years. This guy confirms my thoughts about the Calvary Chapels. They are stronger than a denomination and yes they are a Denomination and do everything they can never to say that they are in fact a very strong denomination ruled by the pastors only not by a body of Elders of each Church. They all go on a Moses Style of a Church leadership that whatever Moses says (that being the pastor) is what goes. They want everybody to think that they're freely following the Holy Spirit. Yes each Pastor claims to be following the Holy Spirit and everyone else should be in line with what he says. They don't practice the New Testament way of running a Church where everyone including the pastor is under the eldership. The new pastor the leadership of the original Calvary Chapel, Bryan Brodison, is in league and in bed with false teachers like Rick Warren and false ministries of Hillsong that have women as Pastors. In fact one of the Calvary Chapel's led by Pedro Garcia has ordained his wife as a pastor this is ridiculous.
Brian Broderson is not following the Calvary Chapel way, he is trying to change the movement which is why Chuck Smith before his death wanted to remove him. Chuck Smith's vision and others wanted a spiritual godly Christian to lead the movement and be faithful to the Distinctives. You mentioned that a certain Calvary Chapel pastor had his wife ordained as a pastor, well that pastor is not in line with the distinctives. The Calvary Chapel movement is strongly opposed to women pastors. The Calvary Chapel movement is not a denomination. You can say it is, but it's not. Chuck Smith in his early days left denominationalism because of the control it had on his ministry. The movement is a loose affiliation, not a denomination. Every CC is completely independent and autonomous, there is no one controlling CC's. We are a family of churches that have the same doctrinal beliefs and distinctives which was Chuck Smiths vision. There are other loose affiliations that are not denominations, such as the IFCA International. Your complaint about our church government was not fair. Any church government can be controlling. It depends on the maturity of the pastor. My pastor at CC is very humble and I'm thankful for that. We do see the Moses model in a modified way in the new testament. The Senior Pastor model is what we see leaning in the new testament. Every pastor is supposed to be humble and be a servant to the congregation God has called them to shepherd. There is nothing wrong with the Senior Pastor model unless the pastor gets puffed up and controlling, at that point they should not be pastoring.
Thanks Paul. I'm very thankful to The Lord that He lead me to Pastor Chuck's sermons when I was a babe in Christ in 1981. It's sad what has happened since Chuck went to be w/The Lord. It's a shame but not a surprise that so many are now accusing Chuck of being false. The Lord said it would be this way in the "Last Days". Before I was saved I was raised in the Catholic traditions which lasted for 21 yrs. When The Lord saved me the first thing I did was open up a bible to look up things the Catholic church taught me in my youth, Mary being born without sin, her being taken up to heaven like our Lord was, etc. I did not find those events anywhere in scripture and it was then I discovered I'd been lied to all of this time. After learning those lies all those yrs. and then being lead by The Lord to learn The Truth of The Word of God from Pastor Chuck and reading scripture myself I can say for certain Chuck was true to The Word of God. So for those who say these things about Chuck and for those who have left their 1st. love Christ Jesus and profaned His Word I say, soon it will be revealed who was false and who stayed true to The Word of The Lord, there is NO escaping it. Even so return soon Lord Jesus.
I So agree with you, Thank you for your words and Thank God for Paul Smith leaving us with this truth. I agree that it is not shocking how the torch was shamelessly taken. Most anyone who served and/or attended CCCM b4 Chuck's passing knows, and more importantly God knows and sees all. Please pray for Brian and Cheryl to come to repentance as he openly supports the lawlessness caused by the "woke" movement today quite openly here on youtube. Jesus was angry with the lawlessness in His Father's house in His day on Earth and we all know He is the same yesterday, today, & tomorrow. By the grace of God go we all.
Dear Pastor Paul.. it’s heartbreaking to see what’s happening, but I’m not surprised, my husband and I followed Chuck for years, I considered him my mentor, I’m so very thankful for the solid teaching of the word. I lived in Arizona and attended a small Church there, they had a great little library filled with cassette tapes thru the Bible with Chuck, I moved to the Midwest and never found another place to belong, every church seemed either cold or lukewarm, I just didn’t fit! I still listen to Chuck and love the Lord and His word, and it’s been almost 50 years since I trusted Jesus to save me and was baptized in the Holy Spirit!! It’s lonely here as far as fellowship, and we still try to belong somewhere.. I just wanted you to know we love you and are praying for you! And thank God there are still men like you around! May the Lord bless and keep you! Please pray for us!

It is so sad to see Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa going the direction of the emerging (Sardis & Laodicea) churches - I thank God for saving me in 1974 at Costa Mesa & learning to study & teach through the whole Word of God under Pastor Chuck & Bible School . . I'm not concerned with Broderson or the "new" direction, the Lord Jesus Christ is our 'Captain' . .
Im afraid Im very suspicious of large church organizations like Cavary Chapel. I dont like Calvary Chapel embracing hip hop and rap music into Christian music,I dont like drums,bass guitars and electric guitars being brought into church music,I dont like not singing "Wonderful Grace of Jesus" "He Arose" or "He Lives" on Easter Sunday and singing pop JUNK. The glorious olde hymns we all sang had meaning and depth and were written by Christians who went through tremendous trials and tribulations in their lives and wanted to praise Jesus for bringing them through. The writers of these hymns WERE NOT driven by making money flashing lights booming bass and Hollywood presentstiins. Folks,I for one,will continue to look for a church that sings olde hymns with a piano,organ and choir. If I wanted Peter Paul and Mary Id listen to the radio.
i listen to afew calvary chapel preachers. Ive never heard any unbiblical sermons. Maybe a few opinions here and there, but usualy pretty solid. The emergant church is really really bad.I dont see them that way so far
The very early Pastors were called by God to preach, but the new string after say 1975 that started to preach were and today are doing things in their own will. Many for ego, wealth, cars, big homes, tax breaks and some they think it's just cool to be in the pulpit. I saw it in 1983 and if just became worse when Chuck became ill. Greed doe some strange things to folks. Today you can see the false fruits of Calvary band the split of Calvary type named churches.💡777🎸

Brian has fallen away from Biblical teachings that Chuck always upheld. He did not approve of Brain and his plans. Of course, with the End Times upon us many churches will fall and will embrace non-Biblical principles leading to the fall of the church. False Teachers are upon us, and they will all have to stand before God one day an answer for their sins. Sorry to hear Calvary Chapel has fallen victim to the enemy. Brian has fallen out of favor with God.
I hate to say this but is factual Brian and Cherryl will b a stumbling block to many. A lot of believers will cease to keep serving God due to seeing the materialism in this couple his daughter even! I was never inclined to listen to either one specially Cherryl messages and comments as to say she is an accomplished author, not spirit guided at all, if they chose to sell properties that were meant for the body to go and do retreats and draw closer to God and they have gotten rid of properties, shame on them! But them two will have to give an account and oh boy! I don’t want to be in their place, they are being an instrument of division to satisfy their selfish goals, so sad.
