I picked up 2 Speed Spools and an Abu Garcia Pro Max for $80.00 from a guy on FB marketplace. All new and in the boxes.

Great video. I have the older model Lew's Speed Spool reel I bought used and a few of the newer models. The newer models are a little smoother than the older ones. They all seem to be workhorses and a great value.

Just subscribed today. So far I am pretty impressed with the content. Keep it up, any info is good info.

Lew’s has a new line of KVD series of rods and reels endorsed by Kevin Van Dam. There supposed to be tournament ready; and still affordable for anglers wanting a more durable combo. They also introduced a specialized shallow spool model made for pitching and skipping techniques.

I just bought this reel and I’m really enjoying it.

*Update after catching many huge Reds, Flounder & Specs. This Reel is extremely smooth, I haven't oiled it or anything. Just a quick rinse & wipe down. My new LFS does have the sticker stating, "made in Korea" > A great Reel! Just found a like new never used Lews Laser MG for $40. just picked up the Lew's Speed Spool LFS in July 2022, made in Korea. I chose it over the Shimano SLX. (A Saltwater Guide told me at Academy that all his SLX's squeal or make noises & you have to take the side plate off to adjust braking) He's never had an issue with his Lew's reels. I saltwater fish & love how easy it is to tune because I throw many different weight lures on 1 outing & its a super smooth reel!! I love my Abu's but this is my 1st Lew's & I'm very impressed! Holds a lot of PowerPro 20lb braid also.

That's the problem I have with some of the Lews reels. Just a few months after using them they sound a little raspy during reeling.

You must try the lews reels that have the ACB. They are the best casting reels I have ever used. I suggest the lews tournament pro. It has a very light spool and is super smooth. Casts a country mile.

I have reels that are more expensive than my LFS Korea model 5.1 and I have it on a Okuma Reflection 7’ med rod and I still enjoy using it for crank bait fishing. I use Shimano reels and love them, I also have Abu Garcia reels love them also and I have more expensive Lews reels love them also.

Teriffic ❤ when the landmark LEW'S was discoed. David Fritts bought 30 of them , I from my lower level as a black bass guy bought 5 . As the reviewer stated in 1976 review "black bass reel that must be fished to be appreciated !!!!!! ❤

I know it’s not really relevant anymore since it’s an older video but I just bought a new speed spool from tackle warehouse and it’s made in Korea. Also Debo fishing says his new speed spool lfs is made in Korea as well

The Reel Test, Please review the new 2020 KVD rod and reel or at least the reel. According to the video they released, it has many of the features of the top of the line reel at an affordable price. As mentioned in another comment they have a shallow spool pitching model. I thought of you and if it could be used for BFS fishing. Please review this one also.

They say a brand new baitcast reel won’t get max casting distance out of the box. It has a little break-in period.

IMO the SLX and Tatula CT are better than these reels but they arent horrible. I used a hypermag for a few hours and I love that reel but its $300. I also have a BB1 that I can cast a mile with. The one advantage I see with lews over diawa or shimmano is the customer service. Lews goes out of their way to keep customers happy and have proven that on several occasions with me. Plus lews donates equipment to high school and college fishing teams. I cant wait to see what the 2020 gear can do after icast the stuff should be released

I still have my original ss1h that i got back in like 2014 and with regular cleaning and yearly degreasing/regreasing its lasted me almost unscathed. I use it on a 7ft 6 flippin stick for both jigs on bass and small swimbaits and spinnerbaits for pike. Caught my pb pike (20lbs) and pb largemouth (7.3) on the ss1h. Great budget reel to beat on

I'm new to baitcasters and I find it very easy to use the Speed Spool without back lashing. Easier than my Shimano Scorpion DC and Metanium DC.

THE REEL TEST: w/Applied Physics: The Lighter Spool "Should" Let You Throw "Lighter Lewers" with Lighter Line: Farther. So your 2 grams difference is probably too small for those test. I would think that the Light Finese Swim Jigs or Light Finese Swimbaits would be a better target, but it might only show up as a 2-5 ft difference? It would be interesting to see how Light of a Fishing Line would make your spool weight shine?

In my opinion im not saying its a bad reel but its not the best $99 reel i believe the slx is by far way better now i love lews i have a lot of they're rods as will as spinning combos but ya the lfs is definitely not the best in my opinion

I'm highly disappointed in Lews. I've had the Mach II rod & reel combo for less than a year and the drag system failed. Lost me a huge fish on topwater when the drag kept running as if there was no drag!

I have one-useless for topwater, less than a month old, does not get used at all. If I saved the damn box, I would have returned it. Also casting sucks, a 40buck kastking from amazon is 1000000000000 times better. But I am waiting for shimano scorpion from Japan - got a iced bottle of water to give to the delivery person.
