The only film on this list that interests me is Norwegian Dreams (2023) because of the Polish theme I came across the film on the internet unfortunately in this version there are no English dialogues translated into Polish.
I thought about watching it, until he mentioned the crime. Look, yes it is important to make it known. But I'm tired of tragedy in relation to gay stories. There is only so much one can watch in a lifetime. Glad you enjoyed though. Hope it does well. Just not for me. Hoping for some uplifting and positive gay movies and series!
@@Meliut Indeed. It's tragic but worth watching ... I would recommend a Korean BL short drama series called Semantic Errors. It's amusing, visually stunning, and has a happy ending. I am sure you will enjoy it
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!!! I didn't know any of these titles but I want to see all of them. Because of you, I will keep an eye out for these films. Thank you, again.
Thank you Victor for this and I hope your holiday season is everything. That said, George MacKay, Daniel Craig and Jacob Elordi…yum🥰😂 I am waiting patiently for Good Grief which I already knew about. Thanks to you, I know about and want to see Norwegian Dreams. 2024 looks flush with gay projects and I am here for it. Also, thank you for mentioning Ganymede, I am always searching for gay horror👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😎
“Good Grief” was sweet and soulful…with a beautiful setting! It had the look of a Nancy Meyers movie. The script could’ve used some more depth, but I’d watch it again.
I don’t think I have seen any of her films. I will watch one and take notes. Thank you for the recommendation. And, thanks for watching. Stay tuned for more videos ❤️❤️
Thank you for showcasing these films, Victor. I really want to see Fireworks, but I am scared that I will be devastated like I was watching Fellow Travellers. I do not know how much more grief I can take regarding queer lives.
Exciting stuff happening out there. I'm particularly psyched to see Daniel Craig playing gay again after Love Is The Devil back in 1998 (and, as I've just discovered, Glass Onion in 2022!) Happy holidays, Victor!
On Swift Horses, Ganymede, and Good Grief are ones that I look forward to watching. However, all of them seem like something good to watch! Why do we always have to follow the trope of "Bury Your Gays?" Personally, as a writer, I would rather have The Hero's Journey and/or HFE as a positive template. Ii hope your holidays are treating you well, blessings and much love Victor.
@@jesswise1863 I can't remember exactly where, but I found them online a month or two ago. Neither had subtitles, but I could understand enough without them.
Thank you Victor for another update. I'm so looking forward to seeing 'Femme' here in the UK 🇬🇧 Wishing you the very best in '24 and I'm looking forward to viewing and supporting your content. All the best 😘
Thank you for including movies with such diverse actors. Nice to see movies that aren’t just about cute cis young thin white gay dudes. It would be nice to have more diverse ages, body types, abilities, etc. represented.
Always good to see your videos! I hope you had a great holiday and will have an even better New Year! Nothing really grabbed me in this batch. It seems to me that sad and tragic gay films/stories are going to continue into 2024 😩
lots of great films to look forward to. I've only seen A Place of Our Own, which I loved. It was part of last year's NewFest and I just saw that they've uploaded on their main channel their interview with the film makers
First, I love your summaries. Thank you so much for doing them. In today's post, I really want to see On Swift Horses. A couple others caught my eye, now I can't remember the names. Also, from your previous video I found Fellow Travelers. I am right in the middle of the series and I like it a lot. First, I just really like Matt Boomer, but it also really highlights a lot of McCarthy area that I did not realize. I knew that time was hard / bad, but this really gives it life. Thanks again!
I learnt about Fireworks a few weeks back...Since it is based on true life and a hate crime....This is the top of my to watch list....[I just hope it will be available where I live....it could be hit and miss].....because of the hatred I have faced throughout my life, and the need to understand ...why people hate.....the pieces of that puzzle are thrust forward into making up the entire puzzle through different human story lines.....Thus far I've learnt, hatred is a part of humanity that is recognised as a negative emotion, and some parts of religion is the one place that allows humanity the justification and the freedom to enjoy this emotion.....Being Fireworks is based in Sicily and based on a very religious culture...I'm interested in seeing how the writers and director explain this story....We ALL have a right to love and be loved....
@@WriterVicYates i tried that with another festival and it didnt work... also id have to figure out how to buy the ticket without the billing address info - maybe if they allow paypal or google pay (or maybe if i wasnt so honest lol)
@@WriterVicYates just tried and they have some sort of VPN detector and blocker. I can file a form to say why i should be able to use the VPN ("while I'm in the US") to get an exemption but not sure what reason would justify that... ugh so annoying. I hope a Canadian festival screens Desire Lines online soon!
I'm trying to find many of the films you recommend, but they don't seem to be available. Do you have any news on when/how we can stream Fireworks, Arrete Avec tes Mensonges, Le Paradis ? Thanks for your recommendations. Tod
I expected a tear jerker in Good Grief. I tend to get emotional, but I just didn't feel it. I think the death happened too soon in the movie. We needed to better understand what was lost.
Femme is available on Apple TV and a few other streaming services. I just highlighted it in my latest video. Ponyboi will probably stream soon. Thanks for watching. Stay tuned for more videos ❤❤
I miss my life in JAX. I lived in downtown on Adams. I would eat dinner at Bistro AIX, lunch at an English tea cafe in Riverside and work at the main library. I had a charmed life. I hope you are living life to the fullest there. Big hugs ❤️❤️
I’ve been waiting for Norwegian dream and Fireworks for awhile now, they’re at the top of my list , but Femme also looks intriguing, I’ll probably watch that too
Ganymede sounds interesting. It will either be good, or another bad Here movie. I am hoping for the former. Also, is it just me, or does Jacob Elordi seem to be in a lot of gay movies where he is either gay or confused? I can't help but wonder at his or his agent's choices for projects. If he isn't actually queer, he is in danger of getting typecast.
Such an incredible and important film. It is not streaming as of yet. But TLA Video is selling DVDs of the film. I don’t have a portable DVD player though ❤️❤️
Are you familiar with the story by Colm Toibin called "3 Friends"? It was made into a short film and is included in an anthology with other shorts that I saw at a film festival a while back, but I can't remember the name of that film. Do you know?
They all look interesting . Wasn’t aware of any except for two . Most interested in the fireworks love film . However I think I would rather have not known it was based on a actual event . Oh well I will so hopefully get to see it stream it or get the digital version .
Please do us all a favor and save us lots of frustration. When you discuss a gay-themed video/film and mention which streaming service it can be watched on, mention whether it's included in membership of that streaming service or if you have to rent or buy it. You've mentioned a number of gay-themed films offered on Prime, for example, but the vast majority of them can only be watched if the viewer pays to rent or buy it. That sucks! I pay enough for Prime Video; out of principle I don't want to pay even more to see a movie on that service. So if you mention whether or not each film is free to watch or not, you'll be doing us a big service. Thanks.
Thank - always love your recommendations - can't believe Irish actors names are not tripping off your tongue - it looks like were in everything! Best way to pronounce it is 'ruar-ree' - and it's in Irish not Gaelic - there are three Gaelic languages: Irish, Scottish and Manx, his name is in the Irish language
Fireworks is really good. Burt, I Love You More is actually not as good of a movie. It lacks something that i cant explain.its actually kinda depressing.
Not sure which film you are referring to from the video. There are several. The titles are at the beginning of the section. Thanks for watching. Stay tuned for more videos ❤️❤️
Swift Horses - yes Good Grief - big pass (looks too saccharine) Norweigan Dream - yes Fireworks - yes Queer - pass I love you more - 100% yes! Femme (revenge?) - yes Driveaway dolls - hard pass. Love the Coen Bros, but this looks pretty passé Sebastian - indifferent Frida - pass. Art > Artist Desire Line - maybe A Place of our Own - yes Fairyland - yes Ganymeade - hell yes
'Stranizza d'Amuri' is an incredibly disappointing film, for a contemporary Italian film the acting is above average but the screenplay is rushed and superficial and the ending is poorly staged. It really felt like a missed opportunity, not nearly as godawful as Ozpetek's 'Nuovo Olimpo', but the director seemed not entirely comfortable with the subject matter and stylistically we are in movie of the week territory.
