Liara has had to mature quickly from her quiet dig days, so much has happened since she first met Shep. I think she is quite amazing with what she has been through and the challenging roles she has taken on. Clothing is practical but also symbolic! I do hope you are right and it is only a short time after ME3 ending so we can continue the story with Shepard and team. It would be nice to have Liaras other mother involved too, she was a good character and it would be sweet if they had a nice relationship. It was so funny listening to their interactions. I like to think Liara won't be bad though, just doing what needs to be done for a good reason, as her mother, Benezia, tried to do. Great theory as always! However, I feel like the role of Liara means she has become a Spectre. Two reasons why: 1) Spectres in general work undercover, not revealing their spectre status unless absolutely necessary. This is why her new role could be "redacted" 2) "How did we miss this? The council will be furious..." from the relay teaser could mean the Council has sent her as a Spectre to investigate shady actvity, or even the "anomalies across space", hence her being surprised as to how they could have missed a potential lead/clue. One think I also noticed in the new design is the gold on the inside of her hood. It looked reptilian and reminded me of a Krogan neck. And she also happens to be 1/4 Krogan.

I think she is going to be a type of cerberius, what she thinks needs to be done, even against the council, etc. Makes sense with the intercepted message and what she says in it.

Also the gloves on liara look like Andromeda designs though could be common in mass effect universe. I also assume there's not gonna be a huge time jump maybe 2 or 5 years or so not 600 years.

Maybe the hood is to cover her face to not be detected. Could be in the beginning of the game, there is a reason why she has to remain hidden.

I personally think that we are a kidnapped shepherd at the end of ME3 No matter who you romance, she has a gift for you. And she mind the melts with you.

That hood could also be related to that Cerberus color scheme we see on all the new tech. Could be a part of the uniform for whatever agency that is now, that she might be a part of, if not leading herself.

so what i’m hearing is that this means shepard n liaras hoard of little blue children is incoming 👀 but also, it never made sense to me that the time jump could be 600 years plus in the future, like the amount they would have to gloss over to get there. so to have a small time jump would make more sense to me. we get to experience how the galaxy is coping/ dealing with the aftermath of the reaper war and now there’s these new issues coming for them. so now they have to figure out what they need to do (and who to bring back to help 👀 because who else is gonna save the the galaxy from high level threats)

Interesting theory and it could be true. However, knowing how chaotic game development process is on the inside, i always tend to be more careful about assuming that the creators planned things forward so much. I have my doubts that Matron would be that Redacted word. Seems weird to include it in a description. Too personal. But if they actually remember about asari stages, that would be cool. Agreed that Liara may has already been a Matron in ME3.

I'm glad to see people talking about Mass Effect again. As far as I know im the only person wearing an N7 hoodie where I live. It's kinda _lonely_ sometimes. I get compliments for it but they dont know what Mass Effect is. I hope that changes! I need some kind of escapism that is completely devoid of reality. Mass Effect is one of the few things in my life that brought me that.

I have been thinking that based on what has been released so far, that there will be a new trilogy released. The first one will be only a few years after ME3, the second will jump ahead, and the 3rd will also jump ahead. I don't necessarily think Shepard will be the main protagonist, but he will be an integral part of the story at the beginning. Question...how do you incorporate Shepard without just bringing him/her back (as that has already been done). There has to be a reason to search for relics beyond nostalgia

She could also have become more influenced by her parents now that she's had time to think about things without the war going on. She did say she'll remember her mother as the woman she was, has had discussions with her other parent about what her mother, and she was raised solely by her, so it'd make sense that she'd take on some of the positive traits of her mother to honour her memory. And with her having learned about her "father" we might see more of her in Liara too. She started off as a young scientist who hides away in ancient ruins, but now she's grown and understands herself better, and has been able to figure out who she wants to be and how she'll live her life, taking what lessons she can from the lives of her parents. She's like a person in the mid 20s or so establishing themselves in life having finally figured out what they're gonna do with their life

This is a good shout. There is a codex entry or some lore tidbit somewhere in ME1 I swear it says maiden Asari tend to wear white/lighter clothes and move to black/darker clothes as they mature to matriarchs but oh my god i can't find where it is I swear i'm not crazy. Personally, I would take it to mean we're 600 years later and she's a matriarch, as the original trilogy put a lot more emphasis on the matriarch stage than any other and it would just feel weird to me for Gamble to be like coy about Liara being a matron with the [redacted] bit whereas matriarch is a role that comes built in with its own sense of respect or even power and makes sense to list alongside doctor and shadow broker, but I can see either interpretation.

Have you already noticed that in the teaser poster with the Cerberus-colored portal, there are two invisible ships at the bottom left in addition to the one visible approaching the portal? They appear during the first few seconds, noticeable by the faint lights of the 4 engines. They are practically invisible but they are there if you look carefully. They appear in the second 0.3, at the bottom left just beyond the description writing, they also head towards the portal. Don't find it strange if the English is a bit clumsy, the comment was written with Google Translator, I hope it's understandable XD congratulations for the channel anyway, it's a nice channel.

In Andromeda she sounds like an AI/VI. It sounds assembled, not quite as obvious, but reminiscent of the South Park episode where they cobbled together a voice performance for Chef after Isaac Hayes left the show. Now...why would it have been performed by Allie to sound like a composite rather than a contiguous recording? Anyone's guess.

Technically for Asari the Matron stage can also happen mentally, not just biologically. And its often been thought Liara was already a matron mentally by the time of ME3 as in the case of a romance with Shepard, she felt ready to start a family and have kids after the war ended. So for her to be a Matron only 4 years after 3 makes sense.

I like the idea of everything Liara going through throughout the trilogy maturing her faster. Unfortunately, in Andromeda I just found her voice to be robotic and choppy. Don't know where the voice director was going with that.

I just watched the end of ME3 because I had another crazy idea. When the Normandy is in mid-flight through the Mass Relay and the Crucible energy is closing in on them did you notice how the Crucible energy turns into a - or what appears to be a black hole and the Normandy's engine exhaust is being sucked into it, what if that actually slowed time down for them while 600years passed on the other side. I'll need to read the lore entries in ME again about the Mass relays and the Crucible to confirm this theory. I thought I'd run it by you Paragon7 get your thoughts on this theory.

What if liara is the villain in the next game?

It's not true in ME Universe that "each stage can be started whenever an asari feels that she has reached the correct level of maturity". This fragment DOES NOT come from the Codex and was probably written by one of the wiki's authors, who seemingly incorrectly interpreted this Codex fragment - there's no basis for that interpretation. This is the original Codex entry from Mass Effect 2 (Secondary, Council Races, Asari:Biology): "While each stage of life is marked by strong biological tendencies, individuals do make unexpected life choices. For example, there are Maidens who stay close to home rather than explore, Matrons who would rather work than build a family, and Matriarchs who have no interest in community affairs." Based on that fragment one would need to conclude that the stages of Asari life are indeed biologically determined, yet they don't have to dictate any concrete way of life to an individual Asari. Can an Asari at the age of 100 become a Matron? No. Can she start a family? Yes, since their life choices aren't biologically determined. They are merely influenced by biology and individuals choose their way of life based on other factors as well - psychological, sociological, economic, etc. Liara is one such case. She doesn't need to enter the Matron stage to be a reponsible adult. She already was one way back in the Trilogy - at the very least in Mass Effect 3, though many would argue she grew up as a person even earlier. Like in case of other Asari, biology doesn't dictate who she is as a person - even if it affects her personality. She is after all, a freewilled individual shaping her own character

Given where they seem to be with the next game so far (practically nowhere?), everything we've been seeing in all the N7-day reveals for the past few years seems to be just fluff - with probably nothing much to do with what we'll actually see in the game (if they can even produce and get it out the door, with the studio they've got left). Historically it looks pretty clear that N7-day drops have always been over analyzed hype that has been grossly over interpreted - and may not ultimately have much to do with the next game coming up at all. BioWare made a huge, critical blunder with Anthem and because of Andromeda's somewhat unjustified, poor reception - haven't really recovered either the ME or DA franchises at all. The huge question for the past few years remains, can they? How will promising IP's like Exodus impact BioWare's audience's expectations in the future - and will whatever they deliver be worth the tremendously long wait? In my opinion the reasoning for Liara being a matriarch instead of a matron is more hinged on their likelihood of bridging the two galaxies in the narrative. Since any involvement in Andromeda would put her as an early Matriarch (earlier if she didn't have kids frequently, according to the lore) based on when it happens in the timeline. I know it's not popular, but I could see the merits of Bioware going that route for the next series when considering all of the information we have about it. 1. Liara is the only OG squadmate that could live to the 2700's. Grunt obviously could but he's always been a smaller overall character and doesn't have what other critical positioning/info Liara does. People argue that Wrex could still be around but Drack shows us that even Krogan get old and creaky, it just takes to the 1500's before parts start failing. Wrex is already 1200-ish so Andromeda would have him at 1800 which would be an insane number for any Krogan. Personally I feel like Grunt will be the new leader of Urdnot if they stick with political tradition, and most likely just the top general of the Krogan military if they transition to more of a Democracy under the reign of Wrex. Either way, I don't think Wrex will still be alive. 2. Liara is the Shadow Broker, and has more resources at her disposal than any other non-governmental entity in the galaxy. Now amplify that over the course of 600 years and she could actually do quite a bit with her power. 3. She is the only one that canonically knows about the existence of the Andromeda Initiative that would still be alive when they arrive and Andromeda takes place. All of this adds up to her potentially deciding to send out a QEC linked to the Shadow Broker HQ in an FTL probe that takes the same path as the AI did. Maybe a century or so post-war after discovering the Geth relay/scope that the AI used to see the Heleus cluster, she modifies it to accelerate the probe and "catch up" with the Initiative. Either way they could pull a Halo 2 style dual-narrative and have a seasoned and veteran Ryder discover the probe, allowing access to instantaneous trans-galactic communication with Liara. This would kickstart the ramifications from the decision to hide the Reaper war from the AI/Angara, and potentially set the stage for a political upheaval as tensions mount amid a continued (and failing) resistance against the full forces of the Kett empire. Then we have the main story take place with what Liara was doing in the meantime, focused on world-building the new post-war galaxy and the different forces and motivations. IF they don't mess it up and we get a sequel you can have them beginning a dialogue and the centuries of tech development as the Shadow Broker allows the AI to convert the Nexus into their side of a trans-galactic relay to be linked with one that Liara is building. Then you have enough potential for political upheaval from both the Angara and the Milky Way species fighting over whether they want open access between galaxies to fill that game, and the third could be the link finally gets set up and the risks of evacuating the Initiative/allowing a Kett invasion become the focus. IDK, I'm just spitballing here, but Liara being the principle character alongside their original point about the two galaxies in the 2021 trailer meaning something tells a lot. I think it's setting the stage for an interaction and the shockwaves from bringing these groups back together.

Black is the color of mourning. If she is having or had Shepard child it would make sense to incorporate some human culture in her life. So maybe the redacted title is Mother. Just speculation
