New Links & Panhard Mounts For The Axial Capra Based Class 2/ 3 Comp Rig Build - Holmes Hobbies

Some more work has taken place on the Axial Capra base build. In the last video, we assembled the chassis and installed the front servo mount and transmission into the chassis as well. This rig is being built for Class 2/ 3 SORRCA competition so there is a lot of behind the scenes work going on in the design of this rig too. But this videos focus is the new Team Garage Hack panhard bar mounts and the new links. The new links of course are to secure the only Axial Capra parts to this build, the axles. Find more words of wisdom from John as he builds and tells you about the concepts of this special build.

Thanks John,I'm now getting ready to pop some capra axles under a 10iii....this helped me figure out the panhard issue. I'll custom make the rod itself,it was the axle mount I needed....thanks again.

John, you asked us to share what we're building. To fill you in on my own initiative, I'm designing & building a Triski. Up here in Muskoka Ontario we're inundated with snow so, when life hands you lemons.... You build something with snow skis. And an aluminum frame. And a stupidly-huge brushless motor attached to leftover heli parts for propulsion. I'd leave a pic if I could. It's just too fun designing your own stuff but there comes a point where enough is enough with the numbers & the math and you just gotta build the thing.

I manufactured my own skid-plates for the axles/pumpkins on my Capra. Experience has taught me with my TRX-4 that the rocks can grind clear through the aforementioned with regular use. One 'Nit' to pick with Axial is not having the portal carriers on the front axle housings end removable as are the TRX-4's. Those carriers also suffer a huge amount of abrasive abuse which entails replacing the entire front axle housing when they finally fail on the Capra.

Having removable c hubs just creates a weak point. With a price tag of $10 for a new front axle housing they are priced to be replaced anyway. If your worried about them wearing out in the c hubs and want a traxxas bolt on style then take a look at the TREAL axial capra alloy housings. They have bolt on brass c's and bolt on rear brass portal boxes just like the trx4

@@awesomojack It's NOT pricing that bothers me; it's time, trouble, and logistics. I rent a 200sqft bedroom in a single-family home. This does NOT allow for a workbench with an 8000-lumen work light and every other appurtenance common to an RC hobbyist. Hence, RC 'kits' are out of the question, and every repair or upgrade a logistical challenge.

I just talked my self into swapping my Capra axles over to some new rock pirates rails and then this this video popped up. I was going to use the monkey skid and 10-II hardcore links but no I’m thinking I should get the Capra links?

Why do you prefer the Capra portals over the TRX-4 portals? I'm sure the width has something to do with it. Any other reasons?

Gonna go out on a limb and say.... The longest link bent on both ends in the same direction and angle. Is your Toe / Steering Link. The two odd shape not matching links: Shortest one = pan hard, longer one = drag link. But that's just my guess.

Good evening Mr. Holmes. Can you please tell me why you are going with the 3 link with pan hard bar instead of the 4 link? Please excuse my ignorance but I thought the 4 link was a more capable setup . I am building a Capra kit now with your Puller Pro 540 BL and a Castle Mamba X now. Just trying to learn what I can man. Love your channel sir.
