Hey Old fellow I would bought cheaper ones but was worried there BMSs were not good enough and when locked in the back of the 80 mite catch fire, I went to buy one then after driving in that Coastal traffic for the first time in maybe 2 years. I thought bugger coming here again, Id get another one now.

agm chargers have different charging chart .. float , bulk ect... lithium wants a constant charge chart not a pulse or other type .. yes the voltages are close but thats the only similar aspect ....
@craigtomkinson2837
@craigtomkinson2837 Год назад
Thanks rylzb5887, for that, Yes I know I need a shunt but Iam a tight ass, Ive had the batteries 8 months now and done two trips one 7500ks and the other 11,000ks on roughish roads to Nhulunbuy and up to Weipa and home I just kept a eye on the volts never had a drama, The batteries BMS cut them out at round 12,8 volts away which is good as they do not go into sleep mode, Craig

Except those that have been designed as a "Drop In" for existing Lead Acid systems, which the current range are according to Giants website, I think it's smart to use a lithium charge system though.

You'll have tonns of juice mate, with the weight saving and usable capacity better than agm its a no brainer. I hope the 'aussies' who fitted them together made em aussie proof. I got some power bolt 200Ah in the pouch config for $585 that tested at 206Ah.

Just in case anyone is actually considering buying one of these 'Aussie' batteries, go to the web site and take a look at the specs of the batteries. Assuming there hasn't been a quickie edit of it after I make this post, check out the Ratings part of the spec. Rated at X Ah discharging the battery at 10A, with a cell termination voltage of 1.8 volts. *1.8* What a joke. The industry standard for LiFePO4 is 2.5 volts. Even in the early days of LiFePO4 cells it was 2.0 volts. The general move to 2.5 volts did result in reduced nominal capacity but it took the typical LiFePO4 cycle count from 1000 to 2000 cycles (ending when the cell is at 80% of original capacity). Imagine how much worse cycle count would be taking the cells down to 1.8 volts. Do a bit of maths and work out the true Ah rating of the batteries when the cells are taken to 2.5 volts. I won't be what's on the box, that's for sure.

Great review mate! I'm a new subscriber from the US here. Always a big LIKE here for you. I'll be checking those out here. I will be building my own RV in the shape of a railroad caboose to travel and film trains for my retirement in a couple of years off. This sounds like a good investment so as to not have so many worries on the trail. I agree with a backup plan with the extra battery. I will be boondocking and relying on a small generator and solar power at times as well. Stop in and check out some of my content when you can. Stay safe! Cheers, Danny

@@craigtomkinson2837 Hi Craig! I am currently a Florida State Park Ranger at Lake Kissimmee State Park located in Lake Wales, Florida. I am just now getting my feet wet with the new batteries available. Seems as though they are advancing faster than I can keep up. I have built several solar projects at the park over the years, but we have been relying on the old lead acid batteries. I will be taking the lead on upgrading everything we have.

I purchased one of there batteries about 2 months ago, absolutely Rubbish, got home pull the Lithium 100ah battery out of the box, did I mention they are Rubbish, anyway after inspection I noticed the cheap crap casing was warped yes warped and there was no charge in the battery absolutely flat got 0.02 volt reading on the gauge, customer services was crap it took me over a week for a refund, I would never ever recommend the Giant Batteries to anyone
@craigtomkinson2837
@craigtomkinson2837 Год назад
Thats a bugger Darren did you take it back, We bought a brand new Computer off Harvey Norman it was buggered, it took around the same time for refund think its the way it is after covid. We just did a 7000k trip to York Peninsula SA and back from sunny coast, our 2 x 140amps Lithium's performed perfect in the back of the 80 series running two fridges, in 41 degree days

@@craigtomkinson2837 yes it was a bugger, I took it back the next day it took them a week before I got my refund, in saying that I would love to see someone tear down the insides of Aussie Batteries giant lithium and there atlas lithium batteries owned and built by them, I’ve always supported Aussie made products over Chinese brands In saying that the Chinese Voltx lithium battery is getting rave reviews and there build quality is getting better, I’ve also seen the tear down reviews there quality is far better than other higher brand batteries how good is there 5 Year warranty who knows they haven’t been out long enough for anyone to make a claim ???, but I think I would take another chance with Aussie Batteries before buying Chinese batteries, who knows who to trust anymore there was a time decades ago you could trust companies on a hand shake as to what they were selling was for real

@@darrenknight9661 So true hard to know, hope mine go well, I just bought off Aussy batteries as just down the road, and got mates that had the Giant agms for years. then bought the 130 lithiums off them and had them for two years no worries, I think they are all built here from Chines parts, Ive seen reviws on the Giant 100mp one like you had it tested better than the 110amp DCs batteries, seen Ytube vids of stefin from aussy 4wd with his 100 series had three lots of DCS batteries in 3 years, Anyway Your money there is a bloke down south called Power Paul he makes cracking batteries but flaming dear, hope you get a good run out your next buy,

@@craigtomkinson2837 I’ve just read that an Australian company called Smart Battery Technology now manufactures makes Australian made Lithuim batteries and supplies Aussie Batteries and atlas batteries to put in there cases WOW that’s bloody fantastic to here and they also now use a double BMS as well, I may give Aussie Batteries another go as it seems like things have changed a lot for the better. @@darrenknight9661 Ok thats great bet there dear, I live at Cooroy in the Noosa area i bought mine from Kawana, I love to buy the best but out of my price range, I had 4 x 120amp AGM Supacharge batteries for 4 or 5 years before I bought theses, Hope the Giant batteries I bought go well as Iam counting on them as I have a 4 to 6 week trip with my fam to Kalumburu and Nhulunbuy in June, July. Then a trip with the fam for 3 to 4 weeks to Pennefarther river and Cape Melville in September, then in November got a mates fishing trip to Cape Melville for 2 to 3 weeks. The two 140 amp lithium batteries have got to take the place of the 4 x 120 agms and run my 100lt trailblazer and my 55lt and 95lt upright fridge freezers and one camp light, I take 4 x 180 to 240 watt second hand house solar panels and two 40amp MPPT controllers with to charge the batteries on fishing trips, Cheers Craig
