Can you explain the power reserve complication in depth? I don't understand why there is 2 rotating discs. Shouldn't the inner disc stay stationary and the outer disc rotate to indicate power reserve? Or shouldn't the outer disc stay stationary and the inner disc move? I don't understand why need both rotate... This has been bugging me and no website or video actually explains how/why the power reserve works like this.
Great review Nikolaus! I have the Champagne dial on the way as we speak.....the 38mm plus a usable complication and see through case back won me over. I would like to see it with a tan strap as you say......?? A beautiful watch with a hint of class and old school style. Should have it in a few days hopefully 🙂 Cheers Gregg.
Excellent review of a very handsome watch. The specs suggest it is slightly on the thick side but I am interested to see it in the flesh so to speak. Longines have been doing so well of recent years. I recently picked up the Spirit Zulu Time and I love it.
Thanks very much for this review. I do like the look of this watch and I have been thinking about acquiring a Longines for some time. I agree about date windows. They're not necessary, I never adjust them for the correct date and I think that one spoils the simplicity of a watch face. However, placed where it is on this watch looks good, I think, and much better than at 3 o'clock. It really is a handsome watch, especially in this champagne colour.
Sehr schöne Uhr und Review. Was mich irritiert: Ist vom Power Indicator "Zeiger" das dicke Ende oder das dünne das was auf die verbleibenden Stunden zeigt?
I think the date is one of the features I use the most on my watch.. I am pretty sure I check that more than the time lol. Ah what day is today? I check it. Ah what time is it? I can cehck that on my phone. lol
That’s an interesting point. Never thought about that but you are right. I catch myself looking at the date more often too compared to checking the time. However I still prefer non date watches for aesthetic reasons.
I completely agree that Longines hasn't been "super interesting" for a very long time - many decades, I would even say - and that's putting it nicely. More to the point: Somehow, Longines got downright boring. This has always bothered me because I have my father's 1960 Conquest, which I had meticulously restored by Longines, and it is gorgeous! Now, FINALLY, there is a new Longines watch I want to buy, and it's this one. I think I'll sell my Rolex and perhaps buy both the champagne and black versions. Thank you for your excellent review!
Wunderschön. Danke fürs Zeigen! Longines bot früher preislich erreichbare Schweizer Uhren. Die Neupositionierung mit höheren Preisen ist sicher durchdacht und aus unternehmerischer Sicht eine gewinnbringende Entscheidung. Schade nur, dass sie damit den Ottonormalbürger finanziell abhängen.
One of my first watch brands that statred me off back in early 89s, I love Longines I currently own several. Longines doesn't produce millions of watches annually only Rolex produce over one million that's why Rolex takes up 26% of market sales leaving the rest to all other brands. Girard Perragaux for example only produces 10K watches annually less than AP, PP and VC.
Too expensive for a non cosc certified watch..The movement should have been handwound for the power reserve indicator to make sense. The watch looks very handsome though.
Young people going "I never thought of thing x"....and then 30 seconds later saying "Well, it turns out that they're a big deal". Practically a summary of growing up.
@@NikolausHirsch well compared to similarly specced Longines watches (silicium escapement) like the new 39mm legend diver or compared to the spirit Zulu time, which also has a complication, ceramics and a more interesting case, it is significantly more expensive. The case is not that great, it's thick and boring and the power reserve indicator looks like a modification of the day disc so nothing too special, leading me to believe the only reason for this price is the fact that it's an anniversary edition, and greed. I fully expected it to be around 2700 Euro and my jaw dropped upon hearing the price. And 2700 list with the expectation to get it at 2300-2500
