When hearing Louis Vuitton, most people don't immediately think of watches. Bags and clothes are the main association. However, Louis Vuitton is ever expanding their efforts in the luxury watch segment - and just now, they are releasing new watches in the Tambour collection. Is it enough to convince you and win you over? Or are you sceptical? Let us know in the comments!

Beautiful timepiece but the price is a little steep for the collector.

Good to see them stepping up with a nice movement! The watch does remind me a little about the balloon from Cartier but hey taste does diver. For me it’s nice to look at but I would not buy it. Also the price is just silly. Its the marketing of let’s make it 20k so everyone knows it’s expensive and people can use it to “flex”. Its a 7-8k watch at most.

Thanks for the video. I think it looks fantastic. It’s a statement for LV. As you say, they’ve got serious about watchmaking. Bravo.

am I too far off if I say that at this price point, it's more of a rich person's watch rather than one for the watch enthusiast ?

Elegant watch, beautiful movement architecture and finish, yet only a couple of thousand cheaper than a Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Automatic? I guess this is no issue for the dedicated LV clientele, but one for the watch-enthusiast!

Paris and fab in suisse on the same dial ? Not nice honestly but the design looks good, I think louis vuitton and swiss made was perfect , like cartier .

I'm not quite sure how LV can dictate such pricing if limited quantity is taken as a token support for being exclusive.

Thats why I love omega constellation 95. Integrated bracelet and also thin case. I kinda see this watch has a bit of constellation 95 influence. Omega really need to thin their watch to take it to next level. I keep saying…. I hope omega sees this comment.

Steel watch without any heritage without any complication...for a 20k ?? Ridiculous.

Secondary market price will most likely be less than 8000 USD.

I'm all for traditional luxury brands getting into serious watchmaking. Bulgari did it very successfully, Cartier has always been there and Hermés is also doing some cool stuff. But with this release, I don't think Louis Vuitton went in the right direction. The Tambour was a quirky, daring watch, if quite chunky and difficult to wear too. This new one is uninspired in so many ways, integrated bracelet, blue dial, come on, we've seen this a thousand times and better executed for a fraction of the price. And in the macro shots, the finishing of the dial elements is just off. The overall proportions and positions of the elements also lacks refinement. The text is too big, yes, even the Swiss Made in French, there's no room around it, it's all cramped. The movement is pretty cool, but again, nothing we haven't seen before. And all this makes the price point just insulting. They are going after the LV newly rich crowd where the price is irrelevant, in fact, the higher, the better. I understand, this is how luxury goods work. But it's not high watchmaking, it's a cash grab. A brand like Carl F. Bucherer gives you so much more at a similar price point. Or check out the independents @swisswatchgang features, infinitely more creativity and craftsmanship for the price. So while LV upped their watch game, the price is not even close to what this watch is worth and you'll be paying for the logo above all else. Which is a shame, the Tambour is just another boring, overprices integrated bracelet sports watch now.

Thank you for your thoughts, very much appreciated. While I get where you are coming from, I sincerely am convinced that it shouldn't be labelled as a cash grab. While I am personally (Timo here) not the biggest fan of this design, if you look behind the scenes, it's very clear that LV is putting in a tremendous amount of effort and work into their new watch making direction. It's still a luxury product with a premium for the brand alone, just like you say. But a simple cash grab this is not, because for that they are putting in way too much effort.

Lovely movement but the watch as a whole looks like a combination of unoriginal ideas. A watch designed by a bored committee.

Ouch! No! You NEVER take a watch into the water, unless it's a diving watch (300 meters resistance)! The meters only indicate a certain pressure resistance, nothing else.....come on! Do your research before you make a review like this!

According to Tim Mosso LV stated that you can swim with the watch, just don’t dive with, so research:✅ ✅

Man that recent shilling from the watchmedia for this brand is so cheesy and disgusting. Arnault can you at least try to make it less obvious.
@FratelloMagazine
@FratelloMagazine Год назад
Can you elaborate what exactly the shilling is? Isn't the watch media supposed to cover when a brand like Louis Vuitton is clearly doubling down their efforts to produce higher end watches?
@zikos8136
@zikos8136 Год назад
@@FratelloMagazine what I mean is that the recent buzz (including GPHG) created about this brand is rather based on (paid) nepotism than on merit.
@FratelloMagazine
@FratelloMagazine Год назад
@@zikos8136 understood. To give some context: Of course, one might argue that Louis Vuitton is buying themselves into the space of high-end watch making; however: if you look at what they are achieving with the investments they are making, it becomes clear that they take this endeavour very seriously. Otherwise, we wouldn't cover it. We don't ever sell our voice at Fratello.

Pricey but interesting. Easy pass for me and my bank account is happy with that. Still a Fashion brand for me
