Recently MAC released 46 NEW eyeshadow shades (10 of which are in an entirely new formula). In this video I'll be swatching and talking about the 36 new ones that are in the classic (but re-vamped) formula. Stay tuned for a second video where I talk about the brand new formula! thank you for the video. Im 57 and due to my old aging eyes Im not interested in palettes. Mac seems to be the only brand now that has a substantial collection of singles. kudos to Mac for not jumping on the pallette train like everyone else.

I had no idea Silver Ring was discontinued! It was one of my favourite shades during my mua days on clients and on myself. And I’m glad I still have my mac eyeshadows from as old as 2010.

Thank you for your in-depth analysis. You do this every time! Now I know I need things that I didn't know that I needed. Secondly, your skin looks amazing!! Hopefully some of that "glow" is from the glimmer of Spring that is now upon us?

Fantastic video. I love your commentary/analysis of the traditional MAC eyeshadow formula. It completely sums up how I feel about MAC shadows. I know that insanely pigmented and highly swatchable is very popular right now (and has been for some time now), but the traditional MAC formula will always be favorite when it comes to real life, every day shadow wear. It melds and translates perfectly once applied to the eye, in my opinion. Thanks for posting love 💗.

Thank god they've not gone with that powdery instagram formula. I can't get on board with that, idk why but it always turns into a muddy mess.

helen37x I think it’s because those powdery formulas don’t wear well. The more you blend, the more pigmentation you loose and then everything just looks muddy. I find I have to use very small amounts and build them carefully OR just press them into the skin with my fingers and barely blend the edges. Either way, they aren’t my jam either and I don’t think they wear very well.

You're over blending if they turn muddy. I agree you use little product, build up slowly and blend just a little. I don't mind it bc I've figured out how to use them. I prefer the MAC formula!

@@deathbeforedecaf7755 it may be my eye shape (a mixture of hooded, prominent and a bit downturned... What a joy) or just my personal preference but I like my eye makeup best when it is softly blended and I can never get that look with powdery formulas (unless I'm just using one shade or two at most).

Ooo..I spy a few that I might have to pick up. Starry Night and those 2 greeny mustardy satin shades...Wilderness and the greener one. About a year ago I had to ditch a ton of my old MAC shadows they were over 15 years old and started to irritated my eyes pretty badly. I had 3 of the old school MAC palettes full. I am still using the old ones..they are nice and slim and I am too cheap to replace them. I used to have Stormwatch! It was from some super old weather themed LE collection. Thanks for enabling me to pick up a few new shades that I probably don’t need! Lol. Oh..yea. I picked up Coral about 2 years ago and it was really bad. It had NO pigmentation at all. It was unusable. I sent it to Glambot. Hahahaha.

Hey Dustin!!!!! Love your videos, yet long time I didn't browse youtube. I'm happy yours came back up in my feed :-) I'd have looked for you anyway Great video as always. I think I was the second on earth who loved the original Crbon haha I got Glitch in the Matrix as soon as I saw the color and the name haha I couldn't leave the store without getting it. It s a very nice... color (can't describe that) Thanks a lot for your swatches/reviews I love color ... I add to my short list: fingan, libra, stormwatch (because I love Plumage and it's a greener version of it), haute sauce, maybe Starry night, L.E.E. artist and left you on red ....Thanks a lot!!

I just bought Finjan and Libra. I can not find them all in refills here in Greece yet so it's going to take sometime for me to get all the ones I want. I was gutted over copperplate! I love that shade!

It's weird Mac ignore you given you are the only youtuber I have seen discuss this. Do you think think they are concentrating on Pro MUAs rather than consumers with this launch?

Pink Hornet Thanks! What I was saying was that in all the years I have been talking about and reviewing MAC products, I’ve never had any luck getting anyone in their PR department to talk to me. Years ago (when I was more popular on RU-vid) I tried. I even got someone on the phone once. But no one at MAC was ever interested (even though I wasn’t even asking for free product, I just wanted collection information to share with viewers when I did reviews). I stopped trying several years ago though and these days I don’t think I pull in the numbers for it to make sense for me to receive PR. I DO consider myself knowledgeable and I think I give a fair (and hopefully entertaining) review. But I don’t bring in the audience like I used to so I haven’t tried reaching out - as much as I would love to (not just from MAC either). This is partly why I’ve decided to split my content into three separate channels, to see if I can build those numbers up again. I hope that made sense! 🤗

I have loved Motif for years. I think I'll stick with the one I have. I don't admit how old some of my shadows are but some have twist off tops.

It does make sense. I love your reviews. I'm still a Mac girl at heart. My oldest shadows are some of my faves, maybe I'm just used to them. PS I like how Carbon can be built up too.

Dustin Hunter it’s so weird. I recently saw a RU-vidr with maybe 12,000 subscribers who receives PR from Colourpop, Anastasia Beverley Hills, etc. I’ll never understand why companies don’t send you PR. Your videos are so informative and entertaining. ❤️

I wouldn’t pay attention to Mac whatsoever if it wasn’t for you! They should definitely do you right. also, I just remember a recent trip to sephora where I was debating one of the girls there about how shitty aahhhnazzztahzzzzia shadows are LOL. Unfortunately, as I have told you before, my skin tone and eye shape are made for a taupe family of shadows and maybe jewel tones. Those are so rare to come by. I did like Les artiste and Show biz and some of the old ones you showed like that glorious discontinued silver!😭

I haven't been excited about MAC eyeshadows in a long time but I'm seeing some nice colours here :) I would love to see and hear how they perform on the eyes. I'll have to get Glitch in the Matrix sooner or later just because of it's name. Probably won't be getting anything else because I am already drowning in the deep oceans of all the eyeshadow palettes I already own :))) And yeah, I kind of miss the days when I just had my MAC ones and knew all their names off the top of my head, it's all gone pretty downhill from there...

I bought Purple to the people. I feel like MAC shadows are sheerer than the super pigmented new generation ones on the market and you need to layer them but once theyre on they always last better on my eyelids.

I just got 4 shades in the mail at the beginning of the week: Coral, Left You On RED, L.E.S. Artiste and Mo Money Mo Problems. I love all of them so far but Left You on RED was a little difficult to work into the skin.

Ahhh!! I used to hit up the Southcenter MAC when I lived out there...waah... I hate the midwest!! p.s. I hate the functionality of these "new" pro pallets, I always end up digging my nail into the shadow if I need to move pans around.

Copperplate was neither copper nor plate-like BUT it was my Favorite crease shade EVER!!! I still have 3 pans (all revealing various amounts of pan bottom) in different palettes; wedding palette, Halloween/FX pallete, and Prom/Dance palette. I thought Greystone would be a close dupe...not even close...way darker. I like Greystone and I use it but yeah...no. Thanks for this video Dustin!!!

Hello Dusty! I have never used enough mac shadow to become a fan or non fan. I am a fan of looking at duochrome but not much of a fan of using them only because I'm older and I have hooded eyes and very dry skin. That said, that green duochrome was beautiful! I wasn't a fan of the one that looked like you had scratched it on a piece of toilet paper and somebody had used it for its intended purpose. I thought, why in God's name would you make a shadow look like that? But maybe it doesn't look like that on the eye. I was not impressed with the I guess it's the frosts? Is Frost the same as a shimmer? I usually call a sparkly but not glittery eyeshadow a shimmer. I do, as you have seen, used a bit of Shimmer even leaning towards glitter just on my my mobile lid, here again because of the hooded eyes. Also, I'm finding just this past six to eight months that any actual Shimmer Shadow is killing my eyes now that I have been diagnosed with dry eye. That sucks! I bought a Carli Bybel palette because the shimmers and Glitters were so gorgeous and they made me feel like I had rocks in my eyes. Bummer!

Some of these shades were released previously in the Art Library palettes that launched a few years back, they just hadn’t been released in Pro Pan Refill format yet (which is pretty much the only way I buy shadows). Did you see the comparison between Glitch in the Matrix and Knight Divine in the video? Because I compared them for viewers who were curious.

Yeah it's hella annoying that the website doesn't have the shade description. And you can't tell from the pictures!!!????! So what? We're just supposed to return them? Dumb as hell decision. I'm not bitter. Just fermented 🤣
