Keep in mind, last years MacBook Pro 2015 was a performance laptop, strong and compatible. This 2016 MacBook beats the 2015 version in everything but ports. So, you can't say it's not a performance laptop.
This macbook pro has the best experience in the laptop game; Despite the limited ports that I don't find as a major issue, the unbelievable touch pad, the sexy design, the gorgeous screen, and the booming speakers is what makes this laptop so enjoyable. Even though the MacBook's performance is not as good as the xps or whatever (I love the xps), it performs heavy tasks smoothly. It's a sexier more slightly more powerfull macbook pro 2015. Im talking about the no touch bar btw.
Yeah I agree. I'm not much of an Apple fan, I despise iPhones, but imo this is hands down the best laptop (especially not touch bar with upgraded 16gb ram). The trackpad alone makes it just a wonderful experience, and the speakers really surprised me with how crisp they are. Is it "pro" though? Not really, but I'd argue that no laptop should really be used for 4k editing and other professional applications. That's really what desktops are for, and for me the limited ports aren't a big deal. I'm on Android so I switched to usb-c a long time ago (another reason I hate iPhones).
Getting the 2016 version of the MacBook this week (15 inch) w/ TB. And honestly I just feel like I really wanna buy it still. Plus I'm going into Audio Engineering. And these laptops are known for great performance for that type of work. So I'm still getting it!
This is my first mac book pro hell my firts mac. I can say "its not a power house" I run Wmware Fusion one Windows 7 and at the same time a Windows XP for work simulation. On the Win 7 in run 3 demanding software it still runs with some smaller lag. Im very impressed coming from PCs.
hey do you have updated comment on your use on this model? like you, im getting my first mac and this old 2016 model is getting crazy price slash even cheaper then xps 13. so I might pull the plug. but im afraid that it is not that good.
I️ have a Mac book pro and love it but If you need to runs windows its probably best to get a laptop that is designed to run windows a school in my town is trying to run Windows on Mac and it’s a disaster
I use the Mini Display Port 1-2 times per week, the USB-A connectors several times every day (external hard-drives, USB-drives, Webcam, iPod), the SD-Card reader every day (camera), and of course MagSafe is just beautiful, as opposed to that unsightly piece of plastic they call USB-C.
I got the 13in MBP no TB with 512GB SSD and 16GB RAM and it's great so far. Loving the space grey color...although I have a 13in model from 2010 and I'm amazed how much smaller it is 6 years later.
I get it that you don't plug in that much. I guess you're more of a "just look" user. But I use the Mini Display Port 1-2 times per week, the USB-A connectors several times every day (external hard-drives, USB-drives, Webcam, iPod), the SD-Card reader every day (camera), and of course MagSafe is just beautiful, as opposed to that ugly piece of plastic you call USB-C. Also a new MacBook Air has way better battery than the MacBook "Pro" 2016. As someone who doesn't plugin that much you should have noticed that.
hey a question, why do you think the 2015 MBP is better than the 2016 besides the ports. If ports weren't an issue in the 2016 model, do you think you'd get the 2016 instead? I'm looking to get a maxed out MBP for a more mobile workstation next week. but still torn between the two. I do a lot of scoring, CPU intensive production, a lot of VSTs, very huge sample based instruments (Komplete). What would you recommend? I saw someone commenting saying that the 2016 is better, one converter/dongle to the USB C and he can connect all his equipments already.
Izzy Musa I'm gunna answer you honestly. I only bought the 2015 because of the ports and the price. But as of right now it's runs smooth as butter and I bought it last summer. I'm also running NI Mashine 2.4 on it and runs smooth as well. My friend still uses a 2013 MacBook Pro 15 inch fully stocked and that still runs pro tools and maschine with no problem. I believe the 2015 is worth it and saves you 1500 bucks. But if you feel you need to be up to date with apple then by all means go and buy that cool looking MacBook because that space grey on the 2015 looks sick af.
Wow I was very impressed by the quality of this video. Don't find this quality very much outside of the big tech RU-vidrs like MKBHD, Jonathon Morrison, Austin Evans, etc. You'll get there some day keep producing great content.
The fact that it hangs just on safari makes me worry a little. But I'm not really convinced that is normal, even for the base model. It should be plenty fast enough with it's specs + the ssd. Maybe yours has an issue?
I don't see how you can complain about 6 hours of battery. That is a solid chunk of time. My laptop is terrible and I'm getting a new one, but it has 30 minutes of battery and I get by just fine.
Stuck between the 2016 and the 2015 macbook. I like how the 2015 is the last model of that gen macbook so you know most of the problems are worked out. But i also really like the design of the new one...
Not really, its gets the job done but "PRO" standing for professionals who will want to get work done without being slowed down by a machine. I'm not hating on the device but it isn't "PRO" and don't pretend it is
Morgan Freeman but professionals used the 2015 MCP for really intensive stuff. And this the non- touchbar version is faster than the 2015 version so why wouldn't it be a pro machine. Because people used the 2015 one for video editing and etc... And this is faster
ridiculous.. you buy your cheap chromebook... and try video editing... most of RU-vidrs go for this macbook pro for video editing and a lot programmers choose it too.. Chromebook?
i got the high end model and I love mine. Its now my main video editing machine even over my desktop. Da vinci and FCP are just so fast and smooth on it. Its sped up my video work flow 10 fold.
I thought it was annoying to that is only has USB C ports. Then I thought to myself. If you're a photographer majority of cameras have wifi and Bluetooth now. So you can send them to your phone or mac. If you need to sync your phone you can do that wirelessly now.
It is kinda dumb to get the non touchbar model. You either get the 2015 pro(duh it's cheaper) or the 2016 touchbar. It's insane to pay that price and only get 2.0ghz of performance. Plus 2 ports is too little. 4 is just nice. At least the touchbar version is 2.9ghz and higher than the 2015 model. I have the 13" touchbar 512gb version and it's wicked responsive. I could play X-Plane 12 on that machine to max it out. Some other light games like Rayman Origins runs very smoothly on full resolution. It's powerful enough for most things you do, video and photo editing works fine. Any more and you'd want to get the 15 inch
Nice review. I upgraded to 16GB on same device and definitely recommend the same. It still shouldn't be viewed as a "pro" machine, but really makes a big difference.
I think something is wrong with your macbook. Macbook pro 2016 version should not show you any spinning wheels on safari. I use a 2012 macbook pro with an upgraded ssd and use it for browsing a lot . I doesnot show any spinning wheels for me.
Not a professional laptop? It has a Retina display, superb sound, small form, on average 10 hours of usage, usb-c, lightning fast storage, an i5 processor that goes up to 3GHz and an optimised os to make the most out of the hardware. But it’s still not professional? Just because there are higher spec models of this laptop it doesn’t make it an average machine. Yes, the price is a bit much and you can get better specs in that range from other manufacturers but that is what they focus on, bringing better specs, while Apple are focused on making optimised and reliable products. Lovely video but half of it didn’t make much sense to me because I use the same machine with Ableton and Photoshop and I don’t have any of the issues mentioned in this video.
i have the same computer and the battery life isnt good but i use it at home all the time and putting it on the charger while using it for an hour isnt a problem especially because it charges really fast
What would be a better choice? Future usage: Installation of Windows, Adobe Photoshop, Video Editing software, pictures, videos, documents 1. Macbook Pro 2016 without Touch Bar 13 inch Specs: (a) 2.0GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz (b) 16GB 1866MHz memory (c) 256GB PCIe-based SSD 2. Macbook Pro 2015 with Retina Display 13 inch Specs: (a) 2.7GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz (b) 16GB 1866MHz memory (c) 256GB PCIe-based SSD
I don't understand why people are saying this is not a pro machine. It's faster than the 2015 MacBook Pro and I don't recall anyone complaining about the performance of that model. It's definitely not an air. It's much, much faster in every way.
+Oreo Cookie In my experience it hasn't had strong performance, and honestly in comparison to my 2015 model, that didn't have strong performance either...The 15" is a muchbdifferent story.
Nice video. I'm still debating between me and myself. Meaning, should I buy the $1799 touch bar version or the Dell Inspirion 7559 for $799? I'm a Apple guy but the specs on that Dell seem more reasonable.
I primarily use a near-full specced windows desktop pc for photo and video editing. I need to pair my pc with a well specced laptop to do photo and video editing. I think to buy a new macbook pro, mid-range 13" (the one with touchbar, at 1799$, that here in Italy will cost me - aaahrgh - 2099€). I will buy a dongle to connect external ssd and camera memory cards. Is worth buying it or I should add more ram? and maybe the i7 processor? My main uses will be in studio connected to a 4k dell monitor, to do photo-video editing and music production. And I'll use it also when in my travels through Europe, to edit and upload my photos. Is this a good choice?
I suggest instead of one MacBook Pro, go through two MacBook Airs. its very counter intuitive, but you'd pay half the price today and pay half the price in the near future. Hope this helps!! :)
Sultan Abusaif I’m a sophomore and got a Mac book because I’m already doing some things because I️ plan to dul enroll next year like my brother did he got a MacBook Pro his junior year (14-15) and he is a sophomore in college and it still works great :)
Great video! What do you think about the upcoming 2017 mbp without the touch bar in the fall? It should have more reasonable specs with Kaby lake and hopefully ddr4 etc...I'm feeling hopeful and if it looks good enough I will consider buying one in the fall but I've learned my lesson buying apple products in the first year of a new design
Honestly, if not for iPhone development, apple laptops probably won't sell as well. The dell xps does everything better for the price but can't build iPhone apps.
No, the dell xps is a better performer, but the macbook has better experience: Speakers, design, touchpad, screen. Personally I don't find the ports a major issue.
