Just in case anyone didn't catch on, I first dunked it in the water. You saw me pick it up and drain it, and then not 30 seconds later it got ran over. Tough truck! Also, I have already bought the new body and tires (direct from Traxxas), $208. We should get them in this week. -Tad
Well one thing is for sure that is one tough truck and Tado needs his RC license suspended 🤣😂🤣 I'm kidding, Trust me I know shite happens to the best of us, hey and at least it survived well other than the body and tires lol Thank God it didn't go under the tire huh!?!?!
@@EJ-74 LOL! You're probably right! We haven't posted video of me crashing the drone getting those sweet chase shots. 🤣Sooo glad it didn't go under a tire, that would have been the end of it for sure.
Wow this car survived being dunked in water then driven head-on into a Mercedes. Now that's a challenge I'll let you win buddy. Fantastically strong that Traxxas.
Hahahaha, oh man we weren't expecting the hit by a car part either. That happened while we were trying to get some footage with the last bit of daylight. Sometimes the universe just drops an unforgettable moment right into your lap.
Ahh you can’t blame the driver because we’re in street , I had a ladie who tried to run over my slash , I couldn’t get out of her way because the snow banks , anyway the ladie ran my leg over and this what police told me 😂
@RcPlayer-tt2vw oh no, this was our fault entirely. We made sure the driver of the car didn't feel uncomfortable or cornered over it either. He was very friendly but he sure wasn't thrilled.
Same, I tend to prefer Arrma for bashing, but I can't deny the speed, and durability of the Maxx Slash blew me away. It was also just fun, I was having a blast the whole time.
6:41 Definitely this truck has got a terrible behavior on jumps. I watched a ton of videos and it’s ALWAYS the same : IT CAN’T JUMP. Completely unstable take offs, completely unstable landings. I’m very very disappointed. I don’t understand what’s happening with Traxxas, the new models are big fails, the RaptorR, now the MaxxSlash… It’s like they don’t test their models before selling them. Then what, they will drop V2 without a word or info after customers struggling AF with their cars? Finishing the test protocol ??? …….Oh wait…………
It's not perfect by any stretch. But no RC is. I'll say this for it, it's ferociously fast, rock steady at high speeds, it's tough as can be, and you can always just tune or upgrade as you please to change the handling.
Last July I bought a new traxxas slash 2wd truck well & as I was playing with it around 3pm on August 31st a lady drove by my house and ran over it causing damage to my slashes body and left front tire, at first I thought it was just the axle pin that was bent but after checking it out further that's when I saw the rim was bent so I bought a new replacement tires, so yeah both slashes (regular and maxx) are tough trucks
Thank you sir! Tado made this video spectacular! We have tons more footage that we didn't use because we wanted to stay under 20 minutes. I might make a crash compilation for this truck, it's been through a years worth already hahahaha
I’ve yet to get it😭I didn’t know it was being released and I bought the Rlaarlo Terminator carbon fiber on pre order. Great buy but I would’ve put my money towards this. Gotta wait till next month now. Good luck guys.
You made our day with this comment. That action footage is our favorite part of filming a video. It's just fun to do, and it usually makes for a good ride for the viewers as opposed to just watching an rc run toward and from a stationary camera.
Very awesome.. is that at Taylor Farm park in Paulding county? Sure looks like it. I used to live right down the street, i go there and run my trucks sometimes. that truck is tuff...
I'm curious how other tires that aren't belted would change the air control as well. It has tons of power so I imagine it would give at least noticably more control.
I like the running footage you got with the drone! Great video!!! Also even thought the tires are belted, check your glue beads. At 15:15 it looked like they were letting go. 👍🤙💯
I will take it to the skatepark eventually, but so far it's been so insanely tough, I'm more worried about breaking the skatepark than I am the truck hahahaha
I can't believe it was able to still win another drag race with ease, AFTER getting smashed up like that! It's not a perfect truck, but it's a 57 MPH brick
Great video! Very nicely done! The Maxx Slash sure proved it's tough, no denying that. That is indeed the TRX "plastic fantastic" at it's best!! Even the Mercedes barely phased it!! Wow!! Seeing is believing!!👌😎
@@Rek_Rc Yessir! While I do like my Mojave, it cannot withstand that many bad landings without at least destroying the body..much less get run over by a car! LOL. I stand corrected, the Maxx Slash is a tough son of a gun!!👍😎🍻
Damn! That thing is tough. Glad it wasn’t any worse! Traxxas should really be sending you out a new body and some tires for all the exposure. You just gave them… But they seem to be pretty money hungry and I don’t know if they will hook you up. They would do good to work with a channel like yours! I think you’ll find those. GPS units have nearly identical speeds unless the mini doesn’t get enough time to register and it’llread slower. I had a body that used to run them both at the same time as well!
How does a truck with 3 differentials blow 7 diffs ? That's weird. It's almost as if your fanboyism caused you to forget how to count. Or you never learned. Hard to say.
So far we've heard smashed slash, I accidentally called it a smack slash after the accident, and now you dropped "mashed slash", they're all good, and one of them will be its official nickname on the channel. I can't decide which though.
I looked at the cost of the body and got sticker shock. Hopefully you get her fixed and still have grocery money. lol It reminds me of the RC I bought for my Grandkid last year. Arrma Vortex and it was wedged under a parked brand new Corvette. I had to pry it out with my bare hands. Destroyed the body and servo. Oh yes and the DR-10 I wedged under my own car. Must be a common mistake. @@Rek_Rc
@@RCRoads my very first hobby grade RC I ever had in 1987 was a Tamiya grasshopper, first drive, drove it directly under a moving car. I guess it's like some kind of right of passage hahahahah
I get why people say that, but on dirt it actually drives great. The belted tires make it feel different from other short course trucks I think, especially coupled with its weight. It's really heavy for a plastic chassis truck of its size.
Wow 😳 Cant believe it survived being crushed under the car and drug 30ft, Holy shite!!!!! 😳 When I started racing hardcore back in 2000 we had a saying, Only a idiot would buy a Traxxas 😂🤣 Well I have to say that is no longer true, Traxxas has really come a long way, This thing is super tough and mainly it handles really well for a short course.. Awesome review guys!! 🔥
This video was so much fun to make because the truck was fun to drive, it's fast, so tough, and people have been complaining about the handling, but I thought it drove just fine. It drives like a big heavy SCT with a big body and belted tires hahahaha.
I was so confused at first. It took me a sec to even realize what happened, that's why I panned the camera over slowly, last image I saw was the Maxx Slash on the opposite side of the road from the car, so when I heard the noise I thought it was just the car making the noise, then as it passed I realized I didn't see the Maxx Slash anymore and said very my first thought out loud " I guess we'll so how tough this car is now" turns out it's super tough hahahaha. New body and wheels are on the way. I can't believe it still drove like it never happened afterwards. That's the part that amazes me the most. Some RC cars would limp away after that, but the Maxx just drove like it never happened.
I had both the Maxx slash and a UDR with a open rear diff and traded my Maxx slash for another UDR flat out imo UDR handles better and was just as quick with a 31t pinion on 4s while the Maxx slash was on 6s
I like the UDR too, but it a bit fragile for heavy bashing. It's an awesome truck, but they can bend and break somewhat easily compared to other traxxas stuff.
@@Rek_Rc huh I hit 20-40 ft gaps with mine and in 6 months I've only replaced 1 rear axle housing which was 10 bucks I have another UDR that's gonna end up all vitavon already got a carbon body and aluminum chassis and rear axle for it lol she gonna be the expensive basher lol
I let my neighbor drive my slash Val 2wd and the first thing he did was drive it into the street and right underneath a car😂. It’s survived with some minor body damage.
I noticed the noise too in post while editing, that's why I didn't add music to that part because I thought it would just be overwhelming sound if I did. We were trying to film the review and action footage at the same time, lesson learned, we'll just have to plan better moving forward. I appreciate the comment
Thank you, we appreciate you saying that. The truck was tough, fast, fun, who cares if it doesn't handle like the SCT equivalent of an F1 car (whatever that would be). It was a blast and I'm glad you joined us for it.
OMG I know! That would have been epic. Actually, for the first second or so, I didn't even realize the Maxx slash was under the Mercedes until I was right on us and I didn't see the Maxx slash anywhere else. The only person who saw the Maxx slash get hit was Tado as I was turning back towards that direction after complaining about people driving their cars back there, because there is a "no vehicle beyond this point" sign posted. I thought maybe the cars manifold or exhaust had been dragging. Turns out the manifold was dragging, the Maxx slash down the road hahahahaha.
Amazing video!!!!!! Subbed and liked!!!!! Decided on Xmax for my next RC. I have the XRT Ultimate and Sledge. Looking for advice. I want the Xmax solely for skatepark/ramp bashing. My XRT Ultimate handles amazing on ground. Out of all the three options for the Xmax: regular Xmax, newly released Xmax with overdrive gears and belted tires, and Xmax Ultimate, which is the best for skatepark bashing? Thanks!! I don't care about price. Or price to performance. I just want the best one out of the three options for skatepark bashing.
Belted tires aren't so good for skateparks and big air. Honestly I'd get the regular XMAXX, and just upgrade as needed or desired. Basically let a part break before upgrading. I really appreciate that you enjoyed the video and subscribed, welcome aboard!
@@Rek_Rc thank you! You are insane with your content!!! Absolutely love it!! As far as big RC like the xmax, do you recommend another rc that is comparable? Big like the xmax though.
I nearly tried that. My Senton 3s could do 56 MPH without the body otherwise bone stock. I figured the Maxx slash could break 60 easy without the body since it did near 60 with it on.
They couldn't have been nicer about it. They were just minding their own business, and our maxx Slash ruined their Sunday drive, and quite rudely I might add!
That makes two of us. You think traxxas would approach a channel with just under 3k subs with their newest 700 dollar car, and a written script? Would you like to buy a unicorn? I'll sell you one!
@@HtownRO nahh, I've just become jaded towards traxxas due to high price for low quality, lack of updated electronics, lawsuits against other manufacturers, not a team player, poor warranty. I mean, there are simple things they could do especially for 300 dollars Canadian which is their lowest priced 2wd model, like use the decent GTR shocks they already make instead of the 30 year old design that they already know is a weak point, and those crappy drive shafts. And stop using weird shaped propriety crappy servos. I know this plays directly onto their profits but they are playing the make money game instead of the support the hobby game. It's supposed to be fun!
I don't want to pay a premium price for a "brand name" RC only to hear from the local hobby shop that I should really buy the upgraded shocks and driveshafts before I even leave the store, or buy the ultimate version for 800$ and still be told that it doesn't have the latest updated axles in it and that the crappy slipper clutch should be updated with the "optional" center diff that seems to come standard on every other RC now days. You got me ranting again lol
@ib4217 huh? This truck has a center diff. I'm not sure what truck you're talking about but the Maxx Slash has a center diff and is tough as nails. But of course, you're not obligated to buy one. Also, it seems your hobby shop could use more knowledgeable staff.
I've seen a lot of maxx slash videos and dollar for dollar and I would bet head to head that the 1/10th slash will dust un asked for maxx in drag. It only looks like a slash until you take the dress off. Yes it is sexy underneath but a slash it is not even close.
@@Rek_Rc most would, I had a ecx torment 4x4 get ran over by a minivans tires and it was toast after that, going under a car is not getting ran over and is nowhere near as bad.
It does nose dive pretty bad unless you really commit to the jump. I think non belted tires would help with that. But for high speed stability, those tires are awesome, they aren't bad on dirt either.
It's not the smoothest flyer that's for sure. I think the belted tires are somewhat part of the cause, less centrifugal force, less air control. It's also very heavy for a plastic chassis truck,.
Honestly most of the RU-vid videos don't make it look that great , but when you drive one it's a completly different point of view . I got one because I wanted one , and it's so much fun to drive and drift it around , it looks good it feels good . I'm glad it wasn't a let down concidering I bought one completly blind and luckily fell in love with it.
The first reply to your comment sums it up for me too. I bought it full price and I like it. But it does fly badly I agree to that, I think it's the belted tires now allowing for as much centrifugal force.
@@ConchadoKing well, I'll agree with you that there is quite a difference between those two titles. I'll give you that. They sure are different. Really very different from one another. You got me there
You make a couple valid points, but don't forget the part where the price difference is only like 50 dollars or so if we're talking 6s for 6s, the Maxx Slash is certainly faster, and seems to be tougher than Chuck Norris Beard clippings. Don't get me wrong, Arrma makes my all time favorite RC, and the Mojaves are both incredible trucks without doubt, I actually think the 4s is better overall than the 6s Mojave. But let's not pretend not to notice how fast the Maxx slash is, it doesn't parachute, it's rock steady at high speed, and in this video appears to be as durable as you could ask any RC to ever be. For about 50 dollars more brand new. Does it really seem that much more expensive than the 6s Mojave? Really?
For that speed and durability, I wouldn't call it a waste of money. If I want to change the handling, I can just get different tires and tune or change the shocks. No RC is perfect.
@@RC-Closer1313 I don't disagree that they could have tuned the handling a bit more to accommodate the belted tires and other things. I'm with you there. But I'm just saying the price between it and a Mojave 6S is less than a couple McDonald's meals nowadays, and who really leaves an RC they drive often in stock form? We all tune and tinker no matter how good an RC out of the box is. So basically people are just going to tune it to their own liking anyways.
That’s just dumb you have to be more responsible who cares about the RC you could’ve caused an accident you can’t just run high speed RC’s on the public roads!
This isn't a public road, it is inside a park. The section of road we are driving on is restricted, check the video at 11:21. There is a sign "NO vehicles beyond this point". It gets regularly ignored, and we keep an eye out for this. In this case I had the sun directly in my eyes and didn't see the RC drift to the right. There was no danger to anyone or anything except for the Maxx.
Man that ☀️ 😂looks up “ cloudy 🌥️ as heck “ traxxas different kind of tough , rubberized plastics. My first hobby grade rc , Blackfoot maiden run got run over by a bmw , totally destroyed, we bought traxxas bullet , thats there first tough rc I think
Man the bullet DNA found its way into the Maxx Slash I'd say. I can't believe how tough it's been, especially with how fast and heavy it is. It's surprisingly heavy even considering it's size.
@@Rek_Rc for sure , the bullet looked similar to rc 10 but it was very durable for the times . Same with the traxxas maxx you wouldn’t think they weight so much for a plastic RC , they’re a solid design for sure. Probably used some science to come up with good HCG chassis . Watching You guys with sct , I got both my Mojave’s up and running, I’m trying to save the 4s guy keep it shinny but I want put 6s esc in really wake it up . Once I do that shelf queen days are over . You should try fix that body for bashing , save the new one for when you put it away . Drill holes and use zip ties to stich like repairing dirtbike fender . Body probably still looks good for videos and bashing
