This trip was to New Melones Lake in Angles Camp, CA. They offer a variety of recreational activities such as camping and boat rentals. We have camped at New Melones Lake serval times, but this was our fist time on the Glory Hole Side. Normally we stay at Tuttletown, but it was closed because of Covid so we tried something new. Unfortunately, things didn't quite go in our favor. The water was out in the entire campground when we arrived and had to drive 5 minutes to use a bathroom at a trailhead down the road. The next day they were able to open the women's bathroom, but dropped off an outhouse for the men's restroom. So half of our stay we didn't have a bathroom. Luckily, we were issued a full refund through recreation.gov after our trip so we got a free camping trip out of it. Also the weeds/grass was severely overgrown and the ranger told us that they were scheduled to mow the following week.
The lake is beautiful and the water is clean once you get away from the shore. We will keep coming back because we enjoy ourselves here every time. Maybe next time we should get a houseboat and see how it compares to Shasta
