New Mercedes G63 G Wagon vs Ineos Grenadier: They Are The Same. 

G wagon started out as utilitarian, now a pavement princess. I had one and sold it. Much preferred comfort of range rover. Grenadier looks great.

Nobody goes off-roading In a G wagon.

Both designed by Magna Steyr in Austria however the Grenadier is half the price of the G wagon which will cost you nearly $200,000. Also, you better have $30,000 in your bank account when they go wrong as they are extremely expensive and most parts need to be shipped in from Germany. Good luck if you are in Africa or Australia. Even in the USA some parts can take one month to be flown in, at great cost. Fantastic vehicle though until it breaks. Greek car for a millionaire though. If you’re not a millionaire, go for the Grenadier as it has the same capabilities but at far lower cost for initial purchase, maintenance, and ownership in general. I have a Grenadier and a Mercedes GLS 400 D which has the same engine as the G wagon and although mine is new and only has 20,000 miles on the clock it cost me over £5000 in repairs already. Some of the parts had to come from Germany and I’m based in the UK it’s crazy. I love the simplicity of the Grenadier.

Owned a G wagon, driven the Grenadier… Buy the new defender. For what you use the car for 90% of the time it bests both of these vehicles….. Especially if you can spring for a V8 Defender. It’s superior on road and has better interior space to both of these vehicles… Unless you are rock crawling, the defender will do everything you need off road and is excellent on road in inclement weather….

I had associated the Ineos with old defenders but seeing it side by side with the G the similarities are striking

If you are worried about depreciation then a used gwagon vs Grenadier would be a better comparison. Lets be honest if you are looking at any of these vehicles you should have some type of money on the side for when life hits you. Price for any repairs shouldn't be something that should worry you if you choose to get a used Mercedes. Showing off is an expensive sport lol.

Grenadier is the best suv

I want the Grenadier as I would go off road, and the G wagen has street wheels and tires, with side exhausts that would get trashed. The thing is the G wagen has lockers and all the stuff that would make it great off road, if they didn’t then go and design it for pretty much just road use. Even the ‘professional’ version they sell which is meant to be the off roader is basically a trim kit. But at literally double the power and a waaaaay nicer interior that frankly makes the gauge cluster and info panel unit on the Grenadier look stupid, you can totally see why it costs double the money! All Ineos has to do to improve the Grenadier is ditch the dumb warning light cluster and center info panel and do something more mainstream like the G wagon. Or even Rubicon! No-one is going to say they much preferred it when all they saw in front of them were 30 little warning lights…

The Grenadier steering is horrible. The g wagon finds aswell a home on the race track. You can‘t compare that utility car to a premium g wagon. Just saying 😅

The silly Mercedes tires and stupid tire cover along with running boards vs rock sliders are all you need to know, you can stop right there.

Love the look of the Grenadier, but needs traditional gauge cluster. Also, I'd prefer if your camera covered a slightly wider FOV. Your behind-the-wheel view, for e.g., cuts off the top of the windshield and looks a bit claustrophobic

These are both cool, but almost no one is going to wheel them harder than what a stock Subaru can do. And parking at a trail head for a few hours, you’re probably going to be the first target for a break in vs all the poors’ cars.

Nice video. I owned (and sold) a Grenadier. The on-road manners of the Ineos are not good. From the turn in which you mentioned as well as the constant adjustments driving at speed. It's just tiring to drive. If you buy a Grenadier for off-roading I think owners will be happy, until they go through the contortions required to lock / unlock the differentials. If you buy it as a daily driver as I did, I think you will be disappointed. The G Wagon, a new one anyway, isn't going to see much offroading but it has much better driving dynamics on the road and I would argue very capable off-road right down to the push-button lockers. Finally, I would say that most of the Grenadier quirks are really annoying and the G-Wagon quirks are really just quirks. The fun comparison would be a new Qreandier and a 2017 G-Wagon. Roughly the same price point and you're starting to get into the range of a buyer that would take it off-road.
