Brian Bruce's book was inspired by his Uncle (great Uncle??) who was in that regiment. He's discussed it and his writing process on his RU-vid channel (Bookish) which has been fun to watch. I'm excited for him to have this book out in the world.

I'm mostly into World War One. At least as far as book collecting and reading. Can also be distracted by American Revolutionary War, Civil War, and Boer War. Heck, WWII is interesting too, but life is short and it seems like such a huge topic that I usually just leave it to other people to explore. Would make an exception for Brian's book, though.

I was one of those girls who also read a lot about Amelia Earhardt growing up and beyond. Added a few more books to my TBR, Battlescapes and Fury and Ice. Love seeing the military history videos! Growing up a Navy brat in a historical city (Charleston SC), you could NOT get around knowing at least a little something about military history from the American Revolution to the present!

Battlescapes looks like an extremely intriguing book Peg. Great pickup! I love that aspect of history. It’s probably the geography teacher in me. LOL. Awesome d-day books. Thanks for sharing.

I am glad Operation Bagration is getting more attention, the Germans saw over 27 divisions simply disappear in the first 5 days of this operation and over 300,000 were killed or MIA in the same period.

Peg, I got introduced to your channel by Steve Donoghue. Trully find the Civil War and WW I and II fascinating. You introduced me to a great series of books on the Overland Campaign by Gordon Rhea. I have bought the one on Cold Harbor but am excited to get the other books in the series. Thank you for bringing interesting books on a wide range of military history to the masses. Casemate seems to fill those niche key hole subjects. Thank you Peg. Keep up the exciting, entertaining, and informative videos.

Thanks so much, Christopher! I'm glad you found your way here (with a hat tip to Steve!). Gordon Rhea is the best! I hope you enjoy that series...engrossing and a joy to read. Welcome again, and thanks for your kind words! 😁

I never miss your military history videos, Peg. They are my favourites although don't try and mail anything to the UK, it would bankrupt you !

Afraid I can't check out the D-Day books until later, but I've just gotta say that I love that shirt. Seems very much in the spirit of Kilgore Trout's envisioned future tombstone from Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions: "SOMEBODY/Sometime to Sometime/He tried." 😂 Later Edit: Hey, that Empire Javelin book mentioned a thing I know. I feel so adequate! However, I didn't realize Company A rode British craft in. On the one hand, British involvement at Omaha is often overlooked. On the other, they're getting scolded for shoddy designs. Poor Brits can't catch a break. 😉 Why do I like military history? I'm not sure. I suppose the whos, wheres, whens, hows and whys of humans murdering each other in a quasi-structured and ritualistic manner holds a morbid fascination for me. I doubt I'll ever have quite your appetite for it, but after the history of science, it's probably my favorite branch of history to learn about.
