A short student documentary from 2010 on the growing town of Milton, Ontario
Milton is a Southern Ontario town that has gone through significant changes over the past decade. Due to its close proximity to the city of Toronto, and the convenient commute with the 401 passing through town, Milton's population has seen a massive increase. In the 2006 census, Milton was officially named Canada's fastest growing community with a 71.4% population increase from 2001, when the population was 31,471. In 2010, the population has exploded to approximately 98,500 people. Recently, it was published in the Milton local newspaper that by 2031, Milton aims to be built-out with a population of approximately 240,000 residents.
Many people talk about 'Old' Milton as a nostalgic term for the good old days. However, there is no going back. This 'New' Milton has become reality.
This documentary shines a light on the development going on in Milton. It is my hope that this film will help new residents better understand the town they have moved to, and hopefully together we can continue to make Milton a great place to live.
