In most of the side by side comparisons they appeared to stack the deck against the opponent machine. It would've been smarter to make the opponent machine just as fast as the battery powered or in the case of the hand looper utilizing a compound looper to make a better comparison. Milwaukee doesn't need to show they're so much better than the competition - they need to show the ease of use for these machines. No pulling to start, no oil gas mix, no headache with a machine that has sat through the summer/winter and needs to start. Batteries are very consumer friendly and that should be the focus of all of the comparisons.
The blower demo had several issues. The obvious one was that the gas blower wasn't running at full power for whatever reason, and for some lawn companies, this actually might be an issue due to poor maintenance. They needed to use the same box for both sides which they didn't do. This affects the surface area being blown as well as how slick the corrugated is on the wood. Also, they double stacked the gas blower bricks while the battery one was not stacked, which profoundly affects the friction co-efficient on the boards by concentrating the weight on one area of the box as opposed to spreading the weight out. Finally, even the alignment of the blowers can affect how well the box slides, to which, no legitimate attempt to align the blowers equally was really made. I''m not sure most of this was intentional but it all seemed to be stacked AGAINST the gas blower.
couldn't have said it better, great comment. I would also add that in order to prove something like this we need a more controlled environment test, (lab, or done like a lab). everything needs to be controlled, didn't sound like the blower was at full throttle, and possible was using old fuel, based on how little they run the blower just for comparison, that fuel could be months old. They should have poured it in fresh and taken a battery off the charger to show how quick and easy fuel to go is.
I was impressed with the M-18 tools but the gas equipment wasn't set up right. Cordless has its place and I'm a Milwaukee Tool fan. There were some very good points made. Thanks Stan for keeping them honest.
I believe they did use gas powered equipment that wasn't well maintained or just had carbs out of adjustment. But Stan, I've seen your own comparison videos so I'm quite impressed with the battery powered saws. I did like that you compared wood chips. But one recommendation for your chainsaw cutting, if the bar is long enough and the power is there, don't rock the saw, just let it go straight own. Good demonstration video with plenty of information, thanks Stan.
Awesome video Stan. Yes more of this and all of your tool/trailer reviews are so informative. Just keep doing what you have been. A nice mix of jobsite, a little business, jobs gone wrong, tools to make jobs more efficient etc.
i thought the same thing. i literally thought to my self, that throttle was NOT opened all way. Im sure thats not a coincidence given the test they were performing.
I don't have the ears you do, but I was asking questions in my head already. . . "Who put the gas in this last?", "Is the throttle locked?", "If I power it down and take this thing apart I am going to need to clean the whole thing out and check thoroughly" among other thoughts because that did not sound right. In these tests you never know what is done under the lid to affect things however.
Hey Stan of course we want more videos from you. Mostly because your still the king of RU-vid unbiased reviews! Partly because your comical! Thanks for taking us to the Milwaukee hq!
I feel like Milwaukee Tools have been dominating the tool market lately... I personally have a few of there tools and am very happy with them! The things they have in the works are incredible! Hope you have a great weekend!!
I love your new tool (and trailer)demo videos. It really gives me a chance to see these new tools in action and that helps me to decide if I am interested in making the investment. Thanks Stan
Milwaukee has a great lineup of 18 volt tools. The thing to keep in mind is gas engines are repairable. When the battery powered tool stops, it goes in the trash. Would you buy a gas powered tool knowing it's going to the dump when it stops working? Prolly not... And knowing the price of Milwaukee tools, they most likely cost similar. Thanks Stan for keeping us informed and keeping the manufacturers honest.
I used to own a lawn care business and don’t need or want gas powered equipment. I bought the Milwaukee string trimmer a year ago and love it. There is one problem though, when the temperature is hot outside and you use the trimmer to long the battery over heats and starts blinking. Other than that it’s a great tool.
Exactly. She is a product manager and knows how these machines work. She knows damn well that a 4 second warm up is not enough time to get to operating temperature, and is obviously only running at half throttle.
Awesome video! Thanks for asking great questions!!! As for the gas powered tools, they are that finicky when you are not a small engine expert or you don't use them often. My wife and I helped my dad take down 3 acres of large cherry trees a couple years ago. My wife and I each used electric DeWalt chainsaws we had 18 batteries as we own quite a bit of DeWalt power tools. My dad spent quite a bit of time struggling to start the 3 Huskavarna chainsaws that he was switching back and forth between as problems arose. Aside from the fact that the chainsaw stinks, they are way noisier (I didn't notice it as much as a kid when using a chainsaw before electric was available). Our DeWalt chainsaws also worked with canola oil instead of chainbar oil which is cheaper as well and doesn't stink or give you cancer, lol. I spent at least 2 hours a day cleaning spark arrestors, oil tank filter, air filters, spark plugs on my dad's chainsaws as his farm is far from the repair shop and I am sort of handy. Electric is expensive upfront but wow do you avoid so many headaches early spring, late fall, and in between compared to gas. I am a huge fan of Milwaukee, Lowe's got me started on DeWalt, so all my landscaping equipment is DeWalt and home repair/construction is a mix of Milwaukee and DeWalt. Both amazing companies in product and service. Sorry for rant🙂
Always enjoy you putting the tools in these demos thru the paces. Those gas powered tools didn’t seem up to speed. C’mon now, let’s see those unboxing and tortur… I mean testing videos. Keep up the great work !
I already liked Milwaukee fuel sawsall that i just got but nowI wanna go get the 8 inch pruning saw and the nipper. Great video Stanley, and way to go Milwaukee, for letting Stanley jump in and have a go at it. That's transparency you can trust.
I like how you jumped in there and did the chain saw test Stan! No way was I trusting the Milwaukee guy putting any firm pressure into his cut! The chain on the electric saw was probably sharper too.
Let’s see that proprietary behind the scenes products and processes. The side by side comparisons were certainly performed with less than optimally tuned machines.
That 2" dowel hack didn't go well but not the fault of the system. I had a Husqvarna 272 based brush cutter years ago that would take down a 6" tree but that isn't what I see this system as and have the perfect application for it. Just signed up for a quik lok trimmer/brush cutter from ebay. Thanks for the reason to buy a new tool Stan!
I really appreciate this video I have alot of the Milwaukee lawn tools I have to say I noticed on the trimmer you can't use it as long as you can with a gas powered it seems like the battery over heats so with that being said I use them more for missed areas in the lawn. With the hedge trimmer now is my go to tool hands down lighter and gives that nice clean cut. Just trying places that can sharpen them when needed.
i'd love to see you use these tools in the "wild", I recently got a stihl brush cutter, and want to see if it compares to the preformance. would be perfect for use in the city
I’m always skeptical when it comes to new battery equipment tools vs gas demos. That blower and chainsaw sounded off to me too plus why do they cover up what gas equipment they are using? They say “top leading” but it could be a cheaper box store one underneath that coat of paint. If your going to back it up show us who it is. I’m not demeaning battery whatsoever I have battery in my lineup from EGO to Greenworks and love them. I just don’t want a rookie like I once was get taken for a ride like I did. Keep up the great content! God Bless!
Hey hey stan, busy busy week, infact, i seen ego just came pouty with some amazing new products for the 2023 season, they look amazing, they put a steaming wheal in the 42 inch lawn mower, the push mower which they have three different ones, the most expensive tho will have a screen to gie you blade speed, and you will have a personal pace system sorta like toro, and i was checking the website out and they had a. Striping kit for the 21 inch mowers, but i thought the 21 inch mower which i have lays don great stripes, but I’ll defiantly Nelly be getting that, i also seen tat they came out with a telescoping pole saw, its not part of the combi unite, its jsut a dedicated pole saw, which i actually really want to get, and i also seen they are coming out with the next generation of the nexus escape battery generator, it been bumped up from 150 watts to 400 and had pure sine wave, s this means it will be better for more tools or daily life products like a tv or maybe even a small appliance that doesn’t take much energy. But that’s what ego is coming out with in 2023, and stan, i would really lie to see a unboxing and testing of all these amazing products and see how they function, they all seem so cool, futuristic and i think its so amazing that then industry is really advancing forward. But enough of all that, hope you have a fantastic weekend stan, god bless and go get em, you pal and friend Alexander costa
I saw some of those tools. That steering wheel on the mower looked pretty cool. I reached out to see if I could do some research and testing on them. I’ll keep you updated.
I would say by the size and sound its a Stihl BG86, maybe the C-E model with the ease of the pull. It definitely sounds off, almost like its running too lean. I'm wondering if the carb screw for the high idle was "properly adjusted"
@@1d1hamby It could be a 56, do they put the throttle lock and cut-off on the left side of the handle? And it could be set rich but I would expect to see some extra smoke or someone going on about fumes.
I believe that’s the base model stihl blower, which I have. Mine sounds like that when I’m in the first few minutes of running it. After 5 minutes or so of use it really opens up and sounds totally different and also puts out a lot more air. I’m also curious if they’re using stihl moto mix or not, as in my opinion that is the optimal fuel for it.
With the leaf blower one that leaf blower isn’t running right it isn’t hitting the max rpm I think it’s a poulan pro I have the same one and it runs great
i'd like to sharpen the gas powered blades and give it a tune up.. then see the comparison to the battery powered. that leaf blower was not running to maximum RPM, no way ... thanks for keeping them honest Stan
Great video Stan! The chainsaw demo seemed sketchy, but that 14" looks like it has decent power. Comparing it to an unknown gas saw that barely started and they could only keep running on full throttle...seems a bit fishy lol
@@AndrewShafer it’s hard to make a saw like that underperform because it has an electric carb which you can’t tune them, they do it themselves, so maybe a dull chain?
The trufuel I bought at my local menards is junk. I filled up my new Husky in the winter and it wouldn't even run. Dumped it out and put mixed gas in and it started right up. This summer I cut down a cherry tree in the yard running trufuel and the saw didn't have the high pitched whine or sing from something running amazing. Dumped it out and put standard handed mixed rec fuel and 2 cycle oil and it runs like a champ.
Thanks Stan, I really enjoyed this Video. Can you show more video's like this and maybe compare the difference between other electric power equipment. Great work and thank you for your channel.
oh man at 10:00 you and MR. VCG Vince taking video of each other in the peripheral. Blower looked like it was a weak running Poulan style we used to carry at a farm store. I spent way more time googling gas blowers than I should of instead of working but the layout seems backward of many blowers pictured. The one used had pull start on the left hand side where many online pull start on the right. As someone below mentioned I'd go with the Stihl BG 56 C-E as the nozzle attaches with similar features but there is not a switch in the top of the handle so possibly an older model. When standing on the pull side "left" you can look at the upper part of the nozzle and it looks to have been ground on or shaved, I believe that is where Stihl is embossed in the plastic.
Would love to see the plant tour video . The blower sounded off ??? also the gas chain saw??? Could not tell the brand of chain saw but I would saw the blower was a Stihl.
It's Milwaukee........'nuff said ! And yes, I'd love to see Milwaukee's new, U.S. facility. Thanks Stan, as always, another informative, and educational video.
I love my M12 Hatchet saw. I do most of the limbing in the bucket with one hand. The only thing I'm not crazy about is how it leaks oil. So I only put in what I need when I use it. Great otherwise, I like it. This M18 is something I will have to invest in !
i would love to see a video with all the attachment it would be a good alternative to replace my brushcutter with harness for around the house anywho have a good day and i love the videos!!!!!
#1 Once you pointed it out it sounded like that blower wasn't tuned up correctly. #2 I am not sure about that chainsaw. The gas chainsaw was cutting like the chain was dull. I have used chainsaws enough I can tell when a chain is dull and even with RU-vid videos you can tell when a chainsaw is dull by the way the chainsaw is cutting. #3 You said you would take a battery chainsaw up in a tree to cut the branches. I was laughing. You are a funny guy. (Goodfellas) You did follow up by saying you wouldn't climb a tree. That was a true statement. #4 Not sure about the presentation. I got the feeling that Milwaukee set it up so only their tools would work. I kind of liked the hand tree pruners but I wasn't convinced on the other tools. I will take my Sthil tools any day. I just felt by watching this video that Milwaukee had this set up and to me it was obvious. #5 I noticed that everyone using the chainsaws and those type of tools nobody was wearing eye protection, hearing protection or any other protection. The only person I was using any protection at all was hottie Katie. She put on safety glasses at the end of the video when she was using the hand pruners. #6 I am sure Milwaukee has some good tools, but I am not going to go out and buy a Milwaukee tool because of this presentation.
Impressed w/ those pruning shears and if they can go thru palm fronds, I’m sold and buying, for those plants/trees in every Florida yard that ppl like having for “ornamentals” 🤦🏼, which hate cutting
Thanks for the video always enjoy the new tool videos. I’m going to check out some Milwaukee tools. I’m thinking some of the comparisons weren’t fair. The Milwaukee tools were still impressive. I did some comparisons of my own. I bought some inexpensive cordless tools to try. I gotta say there’s a cheap green works cordless chain saw in my truck all the time. It does ok but being battery it always is quickly ready to trim branches if I need. It has earned its spot
I'm self admitted NOT a landscaping or power tool pro.. But I can tell you as a small engine mechanic and general tinker of gas engines... My stihl 2 stroke blower says that demo unit they have isn't running at full chooch, and probably cost a lot less than they want you to think it does. That said.. Despite the enormous push to make everything on the planet electric, I do dig milwaukee electric tools. Just wish they weren't so damn expensive. Also that said... I have a combo milwaukee drill driver combo that I bought in 2008 from the homeless despot, that just last December 2021, I finally had to replace the batteries as they'd no longer charge. I use both those tools almost daily around the house.
I'm not sure exactly but that petrol blower looks like a Stihl model, and that test isn't accurate if it is because I'm used to the BG-86 model and you have to rev it at full power for about 10 to 20 seconds after a cold start before it runs at its full capacity and that is not the case here, you can tell just by the sound of it. As for the chainsaws, I'd have to leave that one to our two arborists as despite what my avatar pic may imply at the moment I'm not the expert on them. I do love the video though as I am a Milwaukee fan and I enjoy seeing these new electric tools. Thanks for uploading!
Nice video. Thanks Stan. Battery tools are nice but pricey I already have about $700 invested in JUST Milwaukee's batteries and charger and that's without getting the tools. But I have had good success with the tools.
I wish I could afford a nice set of Milwaukee tools specifically picked to fit in the small space of my school bus conversion and allow me to work on said vehicle and similar vehicles.
I do have to say, that was one of the best “tool review shows” you have done. I loved the way Milwaukee configured the presentation and it was all around well done
The blower sounds like a STIHL but does not sound like the top-of-the-line BG 86. It sounds like a bg 56 or 66. The blower also doesn't sound like it is idling properly. Just my two cents though.
You know its hard to say but the 2 stroke blower could just be how it is out of the box..mine was low in the rpms too until i adjusted the throttle cable...mine is a poulan pro
I think the mob just bought some of the pruners … maybe the chainsaw had a clogged muffler or maybe not … I like what Milwaukee power tools I use along with my DeWalt
Thanks Stan. Another great video. I’m suspicious that the gas powered chainsaws had no bar oil and tight chains to increase the friction and reduce performance. Is this possible? BTW, greetings from Australia. I’m a long-time fan.
That leaf blower is a stihl blower and from having experience with professional stihl equipment, that blower is not running properly. I love Milwaukee tools but I think that they adjusted the carb or put bad gas in it. That Milwaukee blower is very cool though. I would also like to see your outside reviews of as many of these new tools as you can review. If a tool works great in your tests it would be perfect in normal use.
Also after watching that chainsaw and seeing the truefuel I bet that they did some to the carburetors because stihl equipment doesn’t usually run like that for me. They do have cool tools though.
Thank you for calling them out on the tampering with the gas powered stuff. I bet not only did they tune them down if you would have switched the chains the results would have changed
that blower is a stihl blower i have that blower and use it atleast once a month that blower rather had bad fuel or something wrong bc that sounded like half throttle
