Its pretty insulting how GW couldn't be bothered to create a new inquisitor model for the new inquisitorial army, but somehow managed to drop not just one but two exlusive inquisitor model recently.

Release a game named Kill team. Precedes to never release a Death Watch Kill Team. Removes Death Watch as an option from the next edition. Like seriously, you HAVE the named Kill teams that are being removed from 40k why not just repackage one of them as sell them as a boxed set for Kill Team?
That Horde mode sounds fun. I can reach a half way point of them removing some of those less custom/specific Kill teams but if an army doesn't have one then just let them keep what they have going on.

@@somechannel8275 Harlequin don't have a codex but can have an army. Legion of damned and the Fallen are gone or count as (or legend). You can play Deathwatch army with two codex. Deathwatch players are dirty.
I'd love to see Deathwatch as a new team for Kill Team. To me Deathwatch makes more sense in Kill Team than they do in regular 40k. edit: I'm not condoning what GW has done. I'm not saying Deathwatch shouldn't be in 40k. GW are a bunch of assholes for how they treat factions. I'm not even talking about the lore. I'm talking about their function and capabilities.
It's a popular take on that, but actually deathwatch is one of the few armies that makes sense in a 40k context. Is it lore accurate that you see roboute girlyman with two dozens of space marines and three tanks?
Ever since their rules got axed, a bunch of people have been coming out of the woodwork and saying that the Deathwatch never made sense as an army even though it was one for 3 editions straight. What part of the lore says that Deathwatch can't deploy in a serious force, as much as other Marine chapters? Individual watch fortresses are smaller than chapters, but it's rare to see an entire Space Marine chapter show up to a warzone anyway.

At least to my knowledge, deathwatch were just marginally worse, since it was even more of an outlier for them to deploy in truly large groups, where marines at least more often deploy whole companies (and a few chapters the whole chapter) as a more 'standard' deployment. 1000 marines still isn't an army though, it's just a group of elite infantry

It's just annoying to me to see a bunch of people who never collected Deathwatch come out and tell the people who have thousands of points of them that it's ok they can't play their army anymore because "it never made sense from a lore perspective" even though it did, and the codex supplements proved it. Simply because "it didn't happen often" doesn't mean it didn't happen.
So how am I supposed to play a death watch kill team in the game kill team if the compendium teams are disappearing, guess I have to wait 493 days after release to get an update
That new inquisitor makes me remember that in their "How to start an Imperial Agent army" they recomend the Eisenhorn Omnibus, just as he got removed from the game... why recommend booka for an unplayable character?
I think what makes Deawatch going to legends so much worse is that they gave no warning of this. At the start of 10th they should have been saying "Do not buy deathwatch it will be getting a huge shake upthis edition" but they didn't. They kept selling deathwatch stuff and didn't give any idea of what was happeing until the reveals for imperial agents. I know a guy who bought a deathwatch combat patrol wanting to get started but I had to tell him the faction was shit canned. Thankfully that combat patrol doesn't have any DW exclusive units so he ca atleast play SM or a divergent chapter.

The way GW has treated deathwatch is making me reconsider investing in the game further. I don't want to buy an army and get destroyed like this ever again.
More and more stuff is being consigned to "legends". The sculpts are getting worse, price is just going up and up...Pretty much done too tbh. Just not worth the investment any more. Blood Angels will predictably become the flavour of the month until the next release and they get smacked black and blue with the nerf bat.
At this point Warhammer is in desperate need of a Community Edition. Of course, the problem is people will feud over which edition they like best and then develop competing standards, and then someone will suggest Grimdark Future which is great for tournament players but worse for people who prefer earlier more flavorful editions.
At this point I suggest just kinda keeping up with 40k exclusively from a lore perspective as (while very imperfect) is the only truly great part of the game right now. Instead play Horus Heresy or Sigmar in-till we see if 11th edition is better (just don’t forgot to keep up with lore) it’s your best option currently.
Its not about the lore use your head. The game cant have hundreds and hundreds of datasheets. Its needless bloat and makes the game harder to balance. Every card game is like this you retire old cards from competitive and make way for the new. No ones taken the old from you you can play them casually. You would screech and complain if they didnt release any new stuff for you, you will now get new Deathwatch stuff for this new edition.
I'm an Iron Warriors fan and there isn't just a tremendous amount of GW product featuring them. But Warhammer Plus made The Iron Within, which I very much approved of, so I continue to subscribe. I believe you have to support the things you really enjoy.
The problem I have is that none of those are GWs own projects. They stepped in and strong-armed independent creators into signing contracts and have either mothballed their projects or made them designed by committee levels of bland.

The app has locked the imperial agents data sheets that can be used in other imperial armies behind a paywall (buying the imperial agents codex). Which means GW will probably do the same to knights when they get their codex. Therefore, in order to know what is available to my Dark Angels I would have to buy 3 codexes (Space marines, imperial agents and imperial knights) and the DA supplement! Which is approximately £113 from a discount site eg Wayland/Element Games
Barely anyone plays compendium, It was more of an index, now that most factions have multiple fun bespokes there's no real need for it, GK, Nids, and Custodes are probably getting bespokes this edition, so it's totally warranted to remove it
Also, if they're compendium teams, they're at least all things that were originally just intended for 40k, as opposed to being legends-ed in the system they were originally released for like we've had in AoS, 40k, etc recently. Still sucks for the people that had got them specifically for KT, but probably less people affected. Interested and concerned by what exactly they're meaning when they say they'll support almost every team released in a boxed set. I'm hoping it just means something around making the Ashes of Faith teams more streamlined. Otherwise would suck to be one of a few teams that are just straight up cut.

GW really shat on the floor with what they did to Imperial Agents, I am actually flabbergasted that they thought this would be even remotely close to a good thing. Not only the whole "well, lets get rid of Deathwath and put Grey Knights back into a White Dwarf Codex" shit, the "lets make everyone either play the (really shitty) Imperial Agents detachments or pay a points premium thats somewhere between harsh and ridiculous to field them as allies. I was one of the few people that were happy to use Imperial Agents in my lists, although they would have made it significantly weaker, just because I like the models a lot. But now...nah, fuck it.
The weird thing is they had the examples *right there* the old Codex: Witch Hunters and Daemon Hunters (and the unreleased Alien Hunters). Allow armies that can either be All that one faction (like Sisters were for Witch Hunters and Grey Knights were for Daemon Hunters) or you can sub in units from other Imperial Factions like you could field cheap basic Imperial Guard squads, Inquisitorial Storm Troopers (aka Tempestus Scions) and tanks to provide fire support to an army otherwise lacking in Anti-tank.
The way deathwatch has been treated is sad. A friend of mine has like.. 10k points of deathwatch, it's his main army. He has other armies of course but he loves deathwatch. As I get to a stage where I could actually maybe finally learn the game properly, the deathwatch news comes out and he just doesn't want to think about 40k at all because of it.
@@grimm697there's two main issues with legends: 1) if points are bad, they will be bad for the entire version as there is no point cost update, unlike the other main stuff with new point every three month and for a new codex that comes out, which is more balance. 2) they are no longer sell. So even if you find a cool unit (for is datasheet and/or for it looks like) you won't be able to get one, unless you're okay with owning an illegal 3d printing copy. 3) more minor because this is more for a minority, but you can't play them in tournament
@@elvadrieclya People play what they want, and the units that nobody played were moved to Legends where they wouldn't have to be considered balancing as outliers. It sucks, but some products die off when they don't sell, and minis aren't excluded from that. 3D printing and recasting are both viable options in this case, because you can't justifiably argue against it while it's the only option available. At the end of the day, if people cared, they wouldn't have been moved to Legends. For the few people actually affected (me included), homebrew balancing can take over like it does in every other game.
I really do love the new Inquisitor sculpt, but it's a bold move from GW to kill Eisenhorn and then make a completely different new Inquisitor in plastic.
Ive played a deathwatch themed army before they had there own codex and will still play it now the legends stuff only effect competition play and 99% of gw players don't play at competition they play it with there mates and a few beers give me the salt of the upset geeks it fuels me
My friends and I rallied around Killteam 2nd Ed. and the Compendium was the perfect entry point for us to play with our existing models from our vast and aged collection of 40k (which we haven't touched since 7th and 8th edition). It's a shame to see that those teams won't be supported anymore. I know the Compendium was not the optimal way to play KT, but it gave us tons of variety.

Having mixed kill teams again, like KT Justian would make for a much more interesting game, I think. Much more like mini 40k armies, rather than a single squads vs other single squads
I much prefer killteam being its own thing, I don’t particularly want mini 40k. Boarding patrol or combat patrol fill that role. Killteam works best with bespoke unique teams not a mish mash of 40k units
14:55 there was a pretty cool short story in Victories of the Space Marines by Ben Counter where it switches between Justicar Alaric fighting and the ordeals that go into making his weapons and wargear. Like a guy who had been running from priests who wanted to sacrifice him giving himself up so they wouldn’t kill his wife instead so they could sanctify the bolt shells-cut to a scene where Alaric is blasting a daemons’ back out with his storm bolter.

For folks upset about Deathwatch: This isn't new behavior from Games Workshop, its just the latest large purge. It also wont be the last. GW is pivoting 40k to 28mm true scale. I suspect it's an effort to stop third party manufacturers and 3D printer owners. Thats why Primaris were created: to replace the old style Marines. I would caution anyone with Power Armor based armies in purchasing anything non Primaris. Unless they are wholly unique, like Wulfen, you should expect them to be cut. This scale purge also hit AoS with the rotation of the Stormcast range. GW is streamlining scaling for profit folks. If you hate it, take your models to a different game system and stop buying GW. Don't reward their behavior. They will change course once their $$$ is affected. The transition in GW's disposition between 7th and 8th ed shows that.
I'd believe you if the only deathwatch unit that remained after the purge hadn't been the old marine mold. If they actually cared about scale they'd update the kit, but that was too much for them. It's just lazy game design.
@@resmues I get that. However, if you have these models, place a Deathwatch Marine, old Marine, and Primaris Marine together. While the Deathwatch isn't as big as the Primaris, it is closer to it than the old Marine.
They are just pushing lots of players that care about how their minis look and love to have customised minis (like the old Death company, Blood Angels tactical squad or Deathwing terminators) to turn to 3d printing. The new Deathc company and Deathwing terminators boxes are a joke and luckily for us there is 3d printing.
I feel a bit sad. My beloved Sisters are now down to one team, which are the rather mediocre looking Novitiates, while Tau and Guard both have 3 cool teams each. At least with the compendium you could either play 10 battle sister or 5 sisters and 5 arco flags...
really hope for a power armor and a penitent themed killteam for sisters specifically for that reason. Novitiates are cute imo but without the compedium the unarmored, inexperienced intern theme will feel too forced upon, not to mention that many dislike their design.

Since Warhammer plus launched, I’ve gotten the 40K mini, then the AoS one for the following year, then AoS again the year after. This year I’m getting the 40K one
Anyone continuing to give GW their money, need to give their head a wobble. A community-wide boycott is the only thing that would force them to take notice to the various issues pissing off their customers. Unfortunately there are too many simps out there for this to happen.
Not sure whether GW just takes the 40k players for granted (i.e. they will buy whatever GW puts out and will continue to be sheep so doesn't matter the quality/quantity/etc. that GW gives them) or whether GW is intentionally moving away from 40k for the long term because they have some kind of market data showing them that people prefer AoS (i.e. they think the new D&D may not be as popular as WotC hopes) and KT (i.e. shorter game), as well as Old World (bringing back in a lucrative group of previous, older players with $$$$ to burn). I read somewhere their profit statement this past quarter listed Old World as its own main line...
Luckily for us there are tons of older editions with books, campaigns, missions and content that will be enough for me and my gaming group for the next couple of decades 😊
Has someone who plays dark angels and Necrons and then said F it got some chaos space marines only to find all of there units increased in points pretty significantly when they moved out of the index phase… Pretty beyond frustrated at this point, but I’m happy for the bloody angel players that their rules appear to be good. It shows Obviously GW doesn’t have a problem using the advance and charge mechanic, but for some reason it’s not available in the annihilation Legion. I don’t know what they were thinking when the design team created a close combat detachment that is worse and combat compared to each other detachments it might as well not even exist. It’s beyond frustrating because you know that the design team isn’t going to go back and do any major overhaul to any of the original factions that released at the beginning. I wouldn’t consider the dark angels supplement solved at this point as well. All they did was update two of their dark angels data sheets so that they were what they should’ve been…
The other day I finally got my S.O. interested in trying kill team, as they're overwhelmed with full scale 40k games. They wanted to go Tyranids, and about two days ago the Tyranid Warriors and guants we ordered came in. The wrapping is still on the box because we havent even had the time to build them yet. Two other friends of mine who picked up the Grey Knights and Custodes combat patrols respectively to get into 40k and were interested in trying out Kill Team with their compendium teams while they built the rest of their combat patrols. This is getting absolutely ridiculous.
Compendium was never really the main thing with killteam 21, it was pretty obvious it was going to go away with the new edition bc it was really just an index to start the edition off so they didn’t jsut have 2 teams
Again, it's very curious that the Index PDFs for Deathwatch and Agents of the Imperium, last updated June 2024, remain live on the website despite us now having both a Codex AND an updated Legends PDF for the Agents. Their pattern in the past has always been to promptly retire Indexes when replaced by a Codex. (And it seems that in the App at least, those Indexes HAVE been retired.) It'll be interesting to see if those files stay up. Because I much prefer the Index version of the retired Deathwatch units that don't have that pesky Retinue keyword.
So the compendium stopped getting balance dataslates for quite a while so the writing has been on the wall for them for quite a while so it really is unsurprising that they aren't getting updated
Tentatively excited about a Kill Team update. A little sad to see the Compendium teams losing support though, I could get good use out of the Grey Knights team and there's no bespoke alternative for them.
I wonder what is going on with Gellexpox infected. The box disappeared from the web store along with Rogue Trader Starstriders but that came back for Imperial Agents, and now both don't get cards for kill team but do get new free online rules. Could they be repackaged for Death Guard?
How is a daemonhost, an essential tool of the Inquisition, a legends kit now?! And are jokaero extinct?! F this….creating custom daemonhosts was one of the coolest aspects of that unit.
Gw does everyone dirty, just paint your armies, the set up cost including resin 2as less than half a 2k army and printed 20k of points over last couple of months.

Probably because they've invested so much in Warhammer already. It's hard to stop buying anything from GW when you've dedicated thousands of hours and dollars to the hobby. There are of course alternatives to 40k but none of them scratch the itch in the same way and often the models don't carry over so they require another investment of both time and money to get into.
The issue with GW there are too many whales in the hobby for them to stop and it's really sad Was at my LGS 2-3 months ago and two things happened that kind of scared me about current players of 40k We were talking about prices mainly to do with the starter sets and how they are getting more expensive and have less models in them. To which he replied "It's bad [Price] but we have to keep buying the Product, If we don't then the company won't be able to keep making them and the game, so we need to just buy them no matter what GW does to keep them going" roughly 15 minutes later A guy came in because he needed like two lieutenants for his SM army. So he found one of them but was bummed he couldn't find another one. I asked him why he wouldn't just buy an assault intercessor box for ~$10 less and he could convert 2 guys into Lieutenants and then have 8 bodies and a bunch of bits left over to make more characters for his army in the future. The guy stood there confused like he didn't understand that you could convert miniatures. The hell is wrong with the current community?

I have not played any games of Warhammer at all yet but I managed to get my friends into the hobby by convincing them to try Kill Team since its only 60$ for a 10-12 minis to play with, We are all using Compendium Kill teams since that's what was available at our local store when we bought them, Most of us are still painting our models and I've been learning how to play 2e Kill Team. But even though the Compendium teams aren't being updated for 3e, would it still be possible to play with the compendium teams in the 3e rules even if they aren't updated or should we stick with 2e for our teams?
Well, as someone not in a country where you can get a Warhammer+ sub, I dont think my opinions matters lol... But for what it's worth, it doesnt look particularly tempting. You get 1 mini per year, access to more army lists in their App, Lore which can be found elsewhere, shows/animations I dont care about, painting tutorials which can be found on youtube, and you still gotta buy physical codexes which will clutter your shelves because they'll be outdated on release... I'm not seeing any real incentive other than the 'more armies in app' and you there are other solutions to that...
I think the 2 new mini choices are nice, the Cities of Sigmar model pairing very well with the recent updated range for those players. The inquisitor is nice as well and at least those who got into the Imeprial Agents army can actually have something else new to the range. For me though, its just another year of not caring about the model which is half the reason I would even sub for a year. I think the sub content is nearing me actually subbing for a month at least so may look into that later in the year or just wait until next years mini offerings and hoping its something Ill actually want
Most annoying bit about legends for casual play is lack of support in the app. The app is good for army building, and not having the legends models in there is a pain in the butt if you want to use the app for casual
Eisenhorn only released in 2019!! How is he legends! Wasnt Caville making an eisenhorn tv series?! Eisenhorn is a great place to start reading 40k, it was fun for my wife (who isnt into bolter prawn) and is up there with Cain and Gaunt for easing people into the universe. So so daft.
This will probably be the last year I get Warhammer+ the apps losing functionality with each codex release, so its a bit of a rip-ff & not even a good reference tool to allow you to just look at opponent unit stats and abilities. I dont really expect it to replace Codexs (without a massive price hike) but at least leave some details so its useful outside of the one codex you buy.
Someone tell GW that Inquisitors can't take Inferno Pistols any more.... So he will be unplayable next edition when his rules in box are defunct. 🤦🏼♂️
The only reason I subscribed to WH+ was to watch the animations, but there are far too few of them, and they're not released often enough to justify a continued subscription. Once a year I might do a month to watch the new ones and cancel it again. Everything else can be found on RU-vid or elsewhere.
