The pin game seems to be relatively similar because it's easier to hit but we are throwing fewer dice per unit, infantry squads have a potentially higher ceiling than vehicles, so that's something
I like the new MMG rule, I always liked the idea of seeing them on the board, and reducing the number of tank shots make sense. The loss of assault on pistols make my SAS cry though
@@ArchaiKM Yeah I'm with you there mate, two thumbs up for new mmg but the hit on pistols will catch a few people out! Keeping fingers crossed for snipers now!
@@scholaprogenium7276 Expecting assault (move and fire) to be different from Close Assault (tough fighters).... we may still get TF with pistols, shotguns (missing from the chart) and SMG's. edit : after the first day of the BAGT, Marcus from WG stated that pistols will not grant any bonus in close assault.
I'm new to bolt action, but not new to wargames. And I am going to wait and see what all of V3 involves. I'm not planning on competitive play, and am still assembling my U.S. force, but am into balanced and realistic play. I like the idea of multiple platoons, and a more company based play. But honestly, I'm currently leaning towards adapting both V2 and V3 rules into some custom house rules. Let's keep things realistic, but fun and balanced too.
It will be an interesting change, but currently Germany has always been a bit robbed on their national traits rule. Extra dice wasn’t necessary the issue imo, it’s pins that needed an update for people to take MMG and LMG.
I was playing the Dakka Panzer 3.... 3 Shots per 3MMG...than +1 because its a German MMG... 12 Shots. It was great...move and shoot, hitting on 5s. Pinning and a Casuallty here and there was good enough! I hated the Dakka Stuard. Now I can field every tank and It feels great. I had not read the NEW ANTI TANK Gun rule. Hitting with my Panzer 4 on the move on 5s. Standing still on a 4 up... But I was playing it wrong wasn't I. Standing still the Tanks now hit on 3s!!!! AMAZING!
I think the biggest takeaway is that this allows Vehicle weapons to fulfill their historic role, which was SUPPRESSION. That’s what a Pin represents. Sure, three dice isn’t likely to lead to a kill. But it’s just as likely to end up putting a pin on whatever you’re trying to shoot at, as it was previously.
Given the historical reasons provided, i think any pintle mounted weapons might still get full shots though im not sure if they want to get that specific
I am interested in how infantry MG’s are changing, in V2 they did not reflect the real life and Hollywood war terror they caused. Thanks for your chat on V3 reveal
There seems a lot of talk about losing templates for HE and going to D2/D3/D6 hits etc… but the templates are still in the new box, and they’ve even mentioned elsewhere still needing them. So I think that’s going to stay.
Very happy with these rules, i can see being able to hit being easier with range and moving being a factor but killing being easier. 3+ to kill, add 1 for soft/light cover, 2+ for heavy/hard cover with inexperienced troops -1 to cover and infiltration units adding a further +1 to the save. For the vehicles, very happy, sick of seeing Stuart spam on the table.
The Dakka Stuart isn't dead, it'll never die! Simply put, if MG's get worse for armour then they will get cheaper. Quad Mmg AA Truck for the Russians will have 12 MMG shots at ground targets and 24 vs Aircraft
@@scholaprogenium7276 I've run the Stuart M2 since the 1st edition and will continue to do so alongside a Light AT Armoured car to bully heavier tanks, You can't shoot us all! Especially now I can take 2 each of Stuarts and Greyhounds per Infantry selector now.
I know right, not the bikes! It seems dakka tanks are serviceable, but not OP by any means, I can see a platoon of 3 stuart's still being extremely effective, yet completely out of their depth against heavier tanks or a battery of guns, so it's going to be a fascinating ecosystem!
@@scholaprogenium7276 Yeah, the Previous 20 something shots for 160p or something was just shutting down tons of infantry...they at least had to go down. 13 Shoots it has now. Its still ok. And Fielding 3 ist still strong. But what if I take my Panzer 3, Panzer 4 and a Panther to the tango^^ haahhaha. I love that BA 3th Edition shows balls and really makes something new out of the game. Lets hope it is good. What I have seen so far I like.
How are dakka Stuart’s dead? All tanks got a nerf to their machine guns and this still means the dakka tanks will still be on the top. If they wanted to hurt dakka tanks, then they shouldn’t have nerfed all tanks. The tank that has the most firepower will still be the dakka tank.
I wonder if the light vehicles that have turreted machine guns will behave differently. Example the panzer 1 or various armored cars where the machine gun in the turret is the only weapon.
Halftracks will need a huge points drop to be worth it now. They weren't worth their cost before, but with half shots they're far too expensive at the current price. They need to be like 70 points for a hanomag now.
Really not a fan of the MMG change. Not all vehicles are equal - this is just a crude way to deal with a specific vehicle MMG issue. For the ‘historical accuracy’ could have added -1 to coaxial and pintle mounted, for example.
@@James_P_Wargaming Yo James always good to hear from you buddy! Yeah I see where you are coming from, if I may respectfully disagree on the specifics of including a hit modifier, but that doesnt mean I dont 100% agree there needs to be nuance between vehicles, such as SAS jeeps and truck gunners!
@@scholaprogenium7276 Fair play buddy 🍻 I suppose I was just after a bit more imagination with MMGs for a new edition than a blanket reduction in shots. It’s not as if they have had a short amount of time to think about it. 🤣
If the Hitlers Buzzsaw rule stays, I guess it’ll make it up to 8 shots to allow for halving…? Also intrigued about hull mounted OUTSIDE of tanks, so things like LRDG and SAS units etc, as this is LITERALLY their modus operandi, halving their shots is a bit of a bummer!
@@wifi_soldier5076 Aah, Okay. Means that the driver is a busy man. He'd have to turn the whole tank to aim the MMGs. They were fixed in position and so firing them would have been incredibly inaccurate. The Americans didn't think much of them and soon replaced them with storage boxes. Which says a lot about how useful they were.
@@joehendrson3815 I also just like how all their rules combine into their play style. Good ncos, more snap too, more mmgs, tiger fear, it all feels right for them!
