We looked at a 23ft boat when we first started. Having caravans i thought it would be big enough. The main bed was only 3ft wide. That was the moment i decided we're gonna need a bigger boat. Im very surprised that the internals are not completely finished there is nothing that they shouldn't be able to source easily now. The engine well maybe more difficult but it really shouldn't take this long. Its not a good advert for them. There's been two of them for sale recently both under a year old. Good luck and pester them daily.
I agree with you. It should not take this long and materials are easily available now. Not a good advert for the boatyard, particularly as the boat just looks abandoned and dirty in the yard.
@@lynziekirby8882 and I agree with you Lyn. I think this delay is unacceptable and whilst Lorna just accepts it, they will drag their heels. The boat should be covered up, at least, whilst outside - I would be very unhappy about it getting soaked internally ... ... 🥺😖🥺😖🥺😖 but mayhap it was uncovered to show us the boat?? Anyway, I would be up there every weekend chasing ...
Thanks for the update. Your lovely cat was a welcome addition. 😊 When the time comes for your boat to be moved, I'm sure that could be achieved with help from your loyal friends or subscribers. Have fun in Norwich.
In view of the delays you could ask Aintree to truck the boat south for you. They did this for me five years ago when mine was very late. One thing I would add is that it is now virtually impossible to get the 3.9kg Calor Gaz bottles that fit the Beetle gas locker. I’m not sure what the solution is besides fabricating a bigger gas locker.
Second comment …. At first i thought the cover image was a joke and you were gonna show us a playground playhouse and claim it was your new boat. PS ….. is RU-vid giving you issues? Im one getting notification of about one video in three
Good luck with the final part of your exams. That boat-building company are not doing themselves any favours by their constant failures to complete the job! If I could afford to buy, I'd not be going there!
Hmm, perhaps you missed the comment ref the boat builders being unable to source materials? Even the engine was on a "promise" ... which, as most people, except kids, know means nothing in real life.
@@t1n4444 No, I didn't miss that throw-away comment. I've had 'promises' from builders - that never materialized - hence the basic rule of "Don't pay a penny for the job until it is completed". If you look on a different vlog - Ship Happens - also in Liverpool, (I have no connection) they walk into a timber merchant, who has vast stocks of materials looking for buyers, and the couple can order just about anything from nuts and bolts to adhesives, as needed. So if an ordinary couple can do it, a proper business should be able to. I suspect Lorna fell into that trap, and paid 'up front', so is now tied to that builder, or will lose her money.
Hi Lorna, Shame about the continued delay to your boat being launched, hopefully it will be sooner rather than later. Pleased your course is going well, how do you like Norwich? I often go there to our favourite model shop. Take care, Jon B.
Shockingly poor service from Aintree! Engine availability aside, it should be more advanced than that and I would not be happy with it sat outside. Hope it comes good soon 🤞
Hooray 🎉👏🌟. Haven’t looked at the vlog yet but I do hope you won’t have to wait long for launch day. You lucky girl. Our boat is now up for sale 😢 narrowboating over for us now 😭. Joan. ( I must admit, maybe logistical problems, but I really thing they have been badly letting you down. Certainly no advert for Liverpool boats!!!)
Hopefully your boat will be in the water with enough time for you to spend a few days and nights with her before you get to the marina - an abridged version of the trip you were planning. Time does seem to open out when you're doing something different, and running a narrowboat is probably different enough at this point for you to realize that benefit. Best wishes on this and your LPG efforts!
That boat is going to be adorkable!! Study up on Rv/ van life hacks, and tiny homes for ideas! And if it is to costly to ship closer possibly talk to narrowboat RU-vidrs who are currently with out a narrow boat for help to get it to the home marina
in the storage lockers in the bow, I noticed that the paint doesn't cover the whole locker. I'd ask for 100% coverage just to help prevent rust in those places. I'm assuming that the white color is primer and from my experience primer isn't very good against rust. Otherwise looking good!
I moved my boat from London to Leeds which I did in three weeks (excluding the two week stoppage at Thorne where I couldn't move at all). It was horrible. I wouldn't do it again. 6am to 6pm cruising with hardly a break for 3 weeks on the trot. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Not what cruising is about!
I apologise for the negativity, but, I think the boat builder is basically taking the piss. If we accept that there is a delay on the supply of the engine (which could have been ordered months and months ago) - there is precious little excuse for the lack of progress on the rest of the boat, I would not be able to accept the ‘difficulty’ of supply of materials - they are just not trying. The engine room and the engine does not impact at all on anything forward inside of the boat or the exterior of the whole boat. Personally, I think they are taking advantage of your good nature.
Lorna, this boat should not be outside until it is painted and watertight. These guys are stringing you along and taking the p!!!!. Time to demand your money back!
Glad the boat is progressing. What about planning a launch somewhere that will give you a relaxed 2 week trip to New mooring. Have fun and shake down the new boat to make sure all is good. Enjoy your upcoming trips
Once you actually take delivery of the boat (which is going to be darling!), I suspect you'll feel it was worth the wait, even with the change/s in plans. Thanks for the update!💖
@@lornajaneadventures. This might be an apposite moment to explain about the different phases of applying the different paint films to a bare metal shell.
Hi Lorna, great video, nice to see you are joining the Aintree family, we had our 35ft beetle built, Lazy Trumpeter built nearly 2 years ago now. We also filmed the build journey and now we vlog our trips on our boat. Unlike yourself we were new to it all and your right you can get really frustrated with the build process. Our boat to was held up re the engine. Good luck with the build and hopefully we will see you sometime on the water.
Nice one Laura they aways look smaller on fit out once it’s all in you will get it same in caravans I look at them in fitout and think how can you live in it but it all makes sense in the end have a Top week 🙂😾✌️
All moving in the right direction, and it will be exciting when you're on board. Good luck with your course, and enjoy the homeland. I'm currently in my first bout of covid 😮 weather 40° here I like to do things right 😂😂
So glad to see progress is being made on your lovely new boat. How exciting and it sounds like you have a busy few weeks ahead. Look forward to your next update and safe travels.
