Hey guys! Today I'm sharing my first impressions, swatches and palette comparisons of the new Natasha Denona Mini Xenon Eyeshadow Palette! I was super excited to see something so different from Natasha even though I thought it was quite dark at first. However, after playing with this palette I do have some interesting thoughts! I am disappointed. If she was going to do such a basic smokey eye palette, I would have hoped the formulation would have been spot on. I don’t understand why these mini palettes have such inconsistencies . I thought she had solved the issues with the last few minis. Oh well, I am looking forward to her holiday collection.

Once I’ve had not so good mini from her and since then I just stopped buying from Natasha Denona. It was a mini star. All shades except brown was literally horrible. So dry and dark and all of them looked different in a pan. To top it off the shade cosmo that I was the most excited about turned to be the ugliest. Total waist of money. ☹️

Hmmm…on the rare occasion I need to make an icy smoky eye, I think colourpop’s smoke show/ blowing smoke will get the job done for me!

Im a goth and even I do rarely looks with all black, grey silver. I have the colourpop palette too and I think you’re so right. Usually eyeshadow is the first item I want high end but with this color scheme it’s just not worth it for me personally.

It is, but I don’t believe it’s actually the original formula. I have the OG Purple/Blue palette and Chromatic is an amazing 🤩 rich Chroma-Crystal sparkly glittery shade. The shade called Chromatic in this mini seems to perform similar to the rich metallics in her Circo Loco palette. I was quite disappointed given that Circo Loco is her full sized palette and comes with her full sized price I expect that she would put her impactful chroma-crystals in them. That’s what I come to Natasha Denona for those spectacular impactful formulas. And I expect to see them in these palettes especially for the price AND because that’s what I come to her for. Just like I expect to get Dame Mother Pat’s spectacular Blitz Astrals in her Motherships and her amazingly magical creamy dreamy blend on their own accord mattes. So if I’m short changed on that (I.e., we will only be getting 3 Blitz Astrals instead of her standard 4 in her new Huetopian Dream palette, humf!) I’m quite deflated. So, Chromatic may be the same name but not the same formula.

I love your channel. I am going to say this just in a totally positive way, and if your loving the way you do your eye makeup and don’t want to try this that’s fine makeup is super individual and you do beautiful makeup. I do think that you could maybe try when working with such dark colours to blend them more in a gradient along your eye from outer to inner and not just up and down in order to not have such a have line between light and dark. Just a thought if you were interested in trying it. Again I love your channel so much 💕

Thanks for your awesome review! I was on the fence about this palette. I wanted it because it was so cool goth looking and I have all the minis except for sunset. But I am also 46 and neutrals are more my speed now. While I was watching your review I was going through my palettes. If for the 1 or 2 times a year that I really wanted a black smokey eye, I have black shadows. PMG Subliminal, Marc Jacobs Steeletto & Extravagance, Tom Ford Double Indemnity, Charlotte Tilbury Super Easy Nudes Palette, or any one of my black gel eyeliner would work. The greys might be a little harder to find an exact dupe. I have Bobbi Brown dove grey or cement, so those might work. Long story short, it’s a I love the palette but know I wouldn’t use it enough to spend money on it, even at $25 plus tax. I love your reviews!

Hey Jena! I finally tried the smash box eyeshadow primer you mentioned is your favorite. It does make the eyeshadows stick to your eyelids but the issue I found with it, it makes the shadows extremely hard to blend. It was like I was fighting with my brush to get the shadows to move. I’ll definitely use in areas where I want a punch from a shadow but definitely not an all over base. Some of the shadows you mentioned that are tricky to work with in your videos have you tried them without that primer? I think that could be the issue.

hey Jena thanks for the candid review. I used to work as a district manager for an upscale department store, I was in the cosmetics area and saw a customer asking for a fragrance around the holidays, I mentioned to her that for the same price she could get the gift set with lotion and shower gel, she told me no, it isn't as good, it doesn't smell the same or last as long. I checked the box and both were listed as the same product, but she refused and bought the single bottle. I asked my regional manager about it, fragrance company's will reformulate a fragrance, sometimes after the launch, and they have gotten great reviews, and sometimes for big push campaigns, if you read the fine print, it will state they have the right to reformulate and not declare having done so. so that customer was right, I could not believe it, I suspect cosmetics are the same, when asking for customers to pay hundreds of dollars the formula is wonderful, when asking for a few bucks, much less quality...

So true! I’m glad you found that out. And this palette has also another shade inferior to the original and that is the silver Chromatic. It’s also in Natasha’s OG big Purple/Blue palette. I was astounded! She said they make an inferior version in the minis though they label it the same and it looks the same! And you wouldn’t know it unless you KNEW the perfume and KNEW what they do to the kits or minis just like that customer KNEW her perfume or a wonderful salesperson like her gave me the inside scoop. Crazy what companies do! Bait and switch indeed!

Natasha put out a quick 30 second intro of the palette and I noticed that she used the black eye crayon first on the outer corner before she applied the black shadow. That kind of told me that the black couldn’t really stand well on its own. The look you created turned out really pretty…it was a daytime smoky eye. Thanks for the in-depth review.

I got the YSL Couture Variation nr 4 that is 8 grey scaled palate, + 1 primer and 1 black creamy liner that is actually awesome. So I think I’m good. Oh freaking GREAT!! I love how I've checked sephoras new section, just dropped and even natasha denona section 3 times today and never saw this or even knew about it. Sephora decided to put it at the bottom and I missed it, only to see it now after I've already spent all I wanted to spend... thanks sephora... I do wish they were all cream to powder, that and her metallic is my favorite formula... her website says all of them are CP except the black and the metallic, I feel like the black definitely should have been because the CP is smooth and has NO FALLOUT WHATSOEVER

I have noticed you apply the shadows differently than Natasha Denona does or recommends. She goes in with the dark color first, meaning the black first. Then blend the edges of that out with the next lightest shade and so on.

Yes she does. You can do it either way it just depends what you prefer but you should never have to switch up your technique to use something. Ease of use is like number 1 on my list.

Yes! She does have an awesome way of applying but I just went in the way I normally would :) you can do whatever works for you! I’m not sure the black would do so well as the first shade, requiring so much canvas to blend out. It really let me down but I will certainly try it that way as I continue to test it! 🥰

That's how we learn how to do a smokey eye in makeup school! We start with a black pencil then we set it and blend with a black/dark eyeshadow! :)

Have you seen the dupe for Natasha Denona glam? It’s such a beautiful colour story and that dupe brand is better quality than most brands. It’s alter ego. Btw I know Allie Glines is like watching paint dry but if you jump right to her description box she has a coupon code. I won’t be trying it as I have ND Glam but I do love their formula. I miss Bad Habit. Stone Cold Fox and the taupe , coconuts , and smoke show from colourpop would also be superior choices to this , imo.

Did you get any of the Mac Holiday single eyeshadows from last year? I wonder how the silver compares to the Mac Extra Dimension Foil Eyeshadow in Silver Bells compares to the silver in this new mini Xenon palette. The Mac is very sparkly and beautiful! And Mac also released two palettes at Holiday and the larger one has a very sparkly silver, maybe little lighter than silver bells. Lots of sparkle in them! Thank you for the video and showing us what this palette looks like! I think I’m going to have to pass on this palette. Greys do not look good on me. I think I have lots of similar greys and I know I have some good blacks, and I’ve got some beautifulsparkly silvers that look like they’ve gotta be almost the same, and I just don’t like wearing the greys. Maybe I’ll try similar look but blend the darker grey and black out with a brown instead of a lighter grey (mist). Thanks again!

I really appreciate your unbiased reviews, Jenna! When I first saw this palette, I was rather uninspired. I have to say that your eye look is beautiful, and it changes the way I feel about it. My favorite shade in the palette is Chromatic. I personally love a foiled shimmer. Since Natasha Denona has come out with the Mini Xenon palette, I wonder when she’ll come out with a larger version. Now that might be really interesting!

I wasn’t excited about this and won’t be picking it up, I know these colors don’t look good on me even though I’m very pale and cool toned. hi Jena whats the difference between this and glam , ? i use estee lauder eye primer its a beige cream primer.i do adore glam i really dont think i feel the need to buy this mini , it does have a very dark pan , oh me too Jena i love shimmers i always use shimmers .i must admit black shadows scare me its so easy to mess your makeup completely. i just wound not use it unless it were for a liner .no i feel its a miss for me as i love glam its perfect for me why would i need this mini , i actually gave away my bibi palette i just didn’t like it .

I feel that this would have been really popular last year or 2019 when the monochromatic trend was at its peak. I know this was leaked quite many times, but somehow I thought this was supposed to come out last holiday season or something. Many ppl who like the black and white theme have probably bought the Colourpop nine pan by now. I do think that for ppl who don't want to buy the Colourpop palette or think that even 9 pans of black, white and grey are too many, this is a good option. I would imagine if you want a small one and done smokey eye palette this will be great. 😊 Would have been nice to see how the shades in this palette compare to her Glam palette, since that is cool tone heavy.

Also these mattes are definitely creamy mattes not cream to powder so the label is wrong for saying Cp instead of cm as they’re creamy mattes not cream to powder.

Wow you are so fast! I always appreciate your reviews. The performance is disappointing in comparison to other palettes by her. Okay this colour Story is nothing for me but I know there are many people out there who would love this.... so this quality is really a bummer

I don’t understand why it’s so important how it swatched? The most important how it works on the eyes. I can’t believe really that the blackest black formula that bad as you translate it. The shadow which Natasha Denona produces for many years, is proud of it, and there is a strong idea she created it for. Simply cannot be true according to your first impression review. The highly pigmented eyeshadow are naturally very very dry and maybe bad at swatches.

I got my hands on the palette before it officially launched so I got to play with it more and have absolutely no issues with any of the colours, they all performed fine even though they indeed don’t swatch that well 😊 It’s not my all time favourite black but with a bit of skill and patience, I can work with it. Best black I used so far is the one from the Melt Gemini palette 🖤

Hello Jena! 🥰 i've been waiting for the reviews on this palette but haven't expected one from you so quickly - yay for that! As a fellow beauty lover (not a pro in the slightest lol) I'm in awe how you made such a nice look despite the.. questionable.. quality of most shadows😅❤ I do think i'll be skipping this release when it finally comes to the EU because I can't justify it if only one shade is creamy and standard ND quality. For some reason the formula reminds me of the mini Lila palette. The mattes in mini Lila are very powdery and swatch terribly. I know many people didn’t like that palette and it was on sale at Sephora forever. Despite this I love the mini Lila but it does take some extra work to get the shadows to blend right.

This is a pass for me. I already have the Natasha Denona Blackest Black single and I have similar shades. The single Blackest Black is very black and rich. It truly performs. I will probably have it forever as I usually only use it as a liner. The look is really pretty on you👍🤩

Oh boy… it just seems so basic. I like ND- love Glam and Lila, but I dislike super dry mattes, and I also feel like most people have many dupes for these. I know I have at least 5 palettes that would dupe the exact look. Further, the thing that makes her minis worthwhile (for me) is when there are 2 shimmers , with at least one being a panty-dropper, show stopper, or beautiful duochrome. This is Not it. Most people don’t even like wearing silver, and even if they did they likely already have numerous palettes with it . (Huda 9 pan, colourpop smoky, bad habit smokey 9pan, sultry, becca volcano, ND glam etc!!

Tnx Jena, I skip this one. I'm not wearing dark tones often, I'm pale and it will be to much very easy. Blacks, I have. Silver maybe I can use Sultry palette for it. The Myst shade seems more unique but not enough to get excited.

I got this on order. I almost got the CT 1 that has greys (bcoz I plan to retire UD Naked Smoky), but I am glad I waited!! $25!!! 😳 I just got Melt gel eyeliner does any1 know how they compare Melt va. ND Gel eyeliner in the pot? It’s a hard thing to find a decent gel eyeliner. Sephora basically has melt bcoz bobbi brown all 3 colors has been OOS for a hot minute. Nordstrom has nothing much neither. It’s like u hv to go to Walmart dot com to get anything! I was dealing w freaking “MAYBELLINE!!” til Melt came. I’m obviously not born with it, Maybelline. …Eeek 🥶 I also got a pretty big CT haul coming. I am most excited for my CT mystery box !! But I wanna see how ND gel performs. No1 has gotten ND Nude gel eyeliner yet I think that would be amazing for waterline (???) I’ll wait & see how the black performs. Great video Jena looking radiant as always!! You seem to get the faulty palettes lol; remember the ND Love fiasco? Do u think u got a faulty 1? i was a little unclear. I cannot wait to get mine. Seeing videos like yours, seeing beautiful people, makes me wish mine was here so bad!!

I just fear a repeat of the Jeffree Star Cremated palette. If she makes a large palette, I hope to goodness she puts more interesting pops in and not all grays.
