I tried the Z6II and compared it myself to the Z6III. If you are thinking about upgrading, do it. The camera is awesome and has so much to offer. I love the Nikon color science. They are very close to natural colors.
Your second spider is a Salticidae (jumping spider) and is a marvel of evolution, 2 of the 8 eyes are used to focus on prey at large distances (the 2 large frontal eyes looking at you in the second picture). The spider can jump it's own size several times and usually leaves a thread to secure itself or uses a thread to glide in the wind, but I'm going off topic 😅 Great comparison and review as usual! I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think this is the one that's gonna convert me from Sony. I would love to see how well the FTZ adapter works, just wish they also made a screw-type version for the vintage glass :(( Another really great and informative video, thank you!!
@@FMJP I actually did the same, sold almost all F mount lenses and stick to Nikkor Z only. The only F mount lens I kept is my tilt/shift because its just great plus a couple of Carl Zeiss lenses with F mount. They are irreplaceable for me :)
Being that you review Leica’s and Nikon’s, you have the ability to make some real world comparisons to share with your audience! As such, I hope you offer those sort of comments in the future. Your video was timely because I just ordered a Z6iii after deciding the Q3 wasn’t a good fit for me. Can you make a RU-vid suggesting how you set up your Z6iii for stills and video and which CFexpress B you are using, etc??
As my patience ran out waiting for the Z6iii early last year, I bit the bullet and supplemented my Z6ii with a Z8. I use the Z6ii as a travel and landscape second body; the Z8 is usually dedicated to birds and wildlife. Having gotten used to 45 MP, it's hard to say if I would have chosen a Z6iii over a Z8 had both been available at the same time. I don't think you can go wrong either way.
Thanx for a good overview, nicely done. Always enjoy watching your videos. Between my zf/z8/z9 bodies, I don’t need the z6iii, but happy for wedding photographers and videographers that it is finally here, a very solid option.
Thanks for the comparison Math, very well done. While I do think the Z6III would be a nice upgrade over my Z6II - the “flippy” screen is a real hold up for me. I find that screen to be harder for me to use for street photography when I’m just glancing down to see if I have the image in focus. Having the screen off to the side often results in some tilted shots. Maybe I just need to practice a bit more because the features are quite nice with the new Z6.

13:09 why the viewfinder is so bright, while screen display is still dark like you don't need that bright viewfinder when you put eye enough close to block additional light from coming it. Anyways, thank for the best review of this camera that I saw
It’s not bad. No modern mirrorless camera has bad dynamic range. It’s just less than other traditional sensors. With noise reduction it’s not even worth talking about. If you’re bringing up shadows by 6 stops, picture won’t look great no matter the camera.
That's why Nikon offers you creative lighting systems. You use flashes to prevent too many stops of underexposure and prevent highlights at all costs. Don't shoot the picture if you can't use flashes period. I used the camera and the dr is actually not bad.
I am sure Nikon will issue improved firmware but actually its not that bad. A lot of people hunt for clicks with seemingly "bad news" for new cameras but in real life you hardly notice what they are reporting on. And with a little post-processing these type of issues can easily be controlled.
Both cameras are great. Why I recommend the Z6III is because its just a smaller version of a Z8 with a little less power but still powerful enough for any pro shooter out there. And then, if you got organised your workflow with the Z6III, its very easy to upgrade at a later stage to a Z8 since its essentially the same handling and workflow.
Lower Dynamic Range.(fact) only small but it is there also articulating screens are awful in my opinion. This is more aimed at video size is great though
And then some people are making noise why brand are coming out new camera so quickly. Because people are buying and “upgrading” 1 version after 1 version. Surely. If thats the case. Brand will just release quicker and make more money. Simple. 1 version after another the changes is so small. Upgrade the person not the gear/tools. Easier said but most people dont get it.
I agree that the photographer makes the image and not the camera. The progress & improvements from the Z6II to the Z6III are significant though. Its not a small upgrade in my own humble opinion :)
Wrong ISO performance is better in z6iii. At least no color cast in high ISO. DR is very good in both cameras. Don't listen to those keyboard warriors rent one to try.
See my reply in another comment. Spreading "bad news" about a new camera is typically driven by a strong motivation to hunt for clicks and views ;) The DR on the Z6III is actually doing well and don't underestimate Nikon's regular firmware updates where some so called "reported issues" can be fixed easily.
Sorry but this is unbelievable. Everybody agree with the fact that the DR and Ido performances are worse compared to the z6iii. Everybody. And this is not an issue to fix. This is a consequence of the stacked sensor
@@emilianorusso3571 go look on DPRs comparison tool. There’s no real difference in iso performance. Dynamic range is a difference but it’s such a small one it’s dumb to talk about. Z6iii seems to have cleaner grain pattern at high iso and less color shift.
Z6III was suppose to come out more than 12 months ago it fabricated and was made almost two years ago and the delay was all due to timing from the canons R6 R 6II , but R6III is imminent will be better than Z6III, R6III will beat Z6III and come with a fully stacked and no rolling shutters and around same price .
@@bsc001 I use Nikon. The price of the new Z6III is disappointing. Nikon are charging too much for the Z6III especially outside the usa where people are over paying up to 40% especially in AUS, UK, NZ , due to US exchange rates. It cost too much if you don't buy with American dollars . The Z8 is is the better option now as it has been reduced to a more realistic price point and is an excellent camera.
@@destinyangel5 I fully agree. If I could advise, it would be to hold off on buying the Z6iii for the next 6-9 months, after which the price will drop. I live in Australia, I followed the same protocol when first buying my Z9 at $7,200, the Zf at $2,900 and recently, the Z8 at $4,950, all in AUD price. So personally, it didn’t make sense to me to get a backup body to the z9 in the z6iii, when I grabbed the z8 at only $450 more. If peeps are able and willing to, hold off, prices will drop. I will imagine that the z6iii can be had for $3,800 end of this year, which would make it a much better option.
@@bsc001 The asking price $4499AUD in Australian shops is unrealistic and is oddly just completely priced wrong in Australia . Its just nuts if you pay this. yes hopefully Nikon Australia redo pricing. This level of camera should be no more than around the $800-$1000max AUD more than the older model Z6II , not the $2200AUD more we are seeing Australian retailers trying to get now.Nikon not getting my $4500 AUD no way.
