Dude thanks for your channel, it’s been very interesting during long boring airline flights watching your channel. My experience, I tried this driver yesterday and ended up rolling back to the driver that came with my Asus 4090 this past August when I built my i13900k machine specifically for MSFS/XP12, and I deleted Nvidia experience as well. My old driver from close to a year ago just works and works smooth, and looks great .. no frame gen .. just the stock MSFS ultra graphics settings that use TAA, all I’ve done is turn on V-Sync and bumped the LOD up to 205, then in the Cfg file bumped the shadows to 8192, and turned off the dirt, lens flare, etc. settings that you told us about. The only reason I even tried this driver and Nvidia Experience was to try Nvidia Filters .. and after trying all kinds of filter settings including various youtubers settings I kept going back and preferring the stock MSFS look. So I have a question, when I updated my driver via Nvidia Experience it put it in my Windows installed programs list, I used the Windows 11 rollback method to get my old driver back .. but under installed programs it still has this new driver version listed .. do I leave it alone or can I uninstall it? Thanks man for sharing all your findings and observations 👍 Chris
@@IslandSimPilot I've just finished a flight with the Fenix, and it was perfect. Don't use FG, and for this flight, did not use AutoFPS which I normally use. I did clean all my Nvidia folders though, but no issues, no stutters and good FPS.
Is this the best current driver for an ancient 3060ti? I've yet to find one that is stutter free. Seems I get a brief stutter every half second, regardless of the FPS showing or what/where I'm flying. It's so consistent, like watching a metronome.
Wonderful video as usual, fell out of bed and installed the new driver, saw there was city update, the MSFS into gear and was stuck with a black loading screen, no game sadly. After some googling found out that Xbox was down, issue identified fix pending, it now says resolved, but still no go but black screen, and i see on steam that i am not alone, so hopefully a fix will arrive soon for everyone affected. As usual thanks again for being our Nvidia Guru. Pete
I installed the 556.12 one day after release (after skipping the prior version after your concerns about it) - and it didn't disable the FG Mod/Reg entries (I still had FG available and enabled in the sim with my RTX 3080). But I don't get so smooth results when turning FG off. It performs "ok-ish", but it's only "guaranteed 60fps" with FG mod 🙂
Why not use the Universal version of the old FSR Frame Gen mod? It removes the need for the registry edit to remove the nVidia Signature check. Its this check which gets reset if you do a clean install of the driver as it restores the Registry entry. I stopped using that mod when lossless scale came out since it can be run on DX11 and reduce vram usage. Cant say I have ever really noticed performance differences between drivers. Are you not getting smooth performance due to being surrounded by water? Not very taxing on performance
Can you please confirm if you are using lossless scaling together with FrameGen or just FrameGen. I tend to loose track with so many tweaks. May be worth a summary video, i.e pros and cons of each.
Hey! You can use both together for sure. Lossless scaling works entirely separate from the sim and Frame Gen (either native with a 40-series card or the FG mod).
I'm confused, you're talking about the 556.12 but I'm running 560.38 (downloaded within the Nvidia app) according to my NCP info. I cannot even find 560 on the nvidia downloads site. Rel 24 Jan 2024?? dont normally see jumps that big in the release numbering.. Seems pretty smooth to me.
uh oh another video driver update , guess I'll pull the covers over my head and listen to another Awesome video from IslandSimPilot due to the hurricane where are flying on Wednesday if we are July 3 2024
@@MartinGraeff Apologies, correction: I use the FG mod all the time, and I have my DLSS set to 3.7.0. If that makes sense. I found 3.7.10 a bit stuttery.
After watching your video, I instaled the new drier with no apparent issues and the framegen mod still works fine. Maybe it was doing a clean driver install that caused your issue. I also did a cleanup and deleted temp files along with the DX cache with no problems. I enjoyed the video though.
Ugh. All was working great yesterday, but I just did a CLEAN install of 556.12, and now bluetooth doesn't work (I know, probably not related to driver, but it was working yesterday), AND MSFS won't start, either. MSFS gets past the initial loading screens, then the window goes completely black with the progress wheel at the bottom/right, and it stays there forever (well, 20 minutes, so far). We are not amused.
Replying to my own comment with an update that I think is important to VR users. MSFS finally broke past the black screen, after about a HALF HOUR, and it presented me with a 5-step first-run 'wizard' that I have never seen before. I went through the wizard, started up a flight through Melbourne, Australia, and switched to VR. Something felt immediately 'weird', but I kinda put it down to having a bad sleep last night. But after 5 minutes of flying, I got really sick, really quick, and I haven't experienced that in over 8 years of VRing. I ripped the headset off fast, to avoid going over the edge into full barf mode. Between the new nVidia driver and the (unannouced, lengthy) MSFS update, something is REALLY wrong with VR now. I can't put my finger on it, but something just felt 'wrong, wrong, wrong' about the VR experience. I'm going to be on the lookout for others' experiences with this... Oh, and Bluetooth...dead to the world now. I can't get my 8BitDo controller to connect to my PC anymore. It's fully charged, goes into discover mode, but the PC will not find it.
@IslandSimPilot what aboit lossless scaling + holy grail? Im doing a flight right now with the lossless scaling, holy grail and also the framegen and is pretty smooth. RTX4090 user. I only wish there was no ghosting at all on the PFD, ND and MCP.
@@PepuDrummer527you don't need lossless scaling with the 4090,just turn gsync, ultra latency in nvidia control panel + vsync on in nvidia control panel and off in the sim = smooth af
@@PepuDrummer527 tried it too with my 4090 fg on and Lossless_Scaling but I had a few ctd and terrible input lag at landing. got without lossless scaling 100-140 fps on 4k. thats enough
