Thanks for testing run time. Approximately 50% more runtime for a slight lumen drop. I still can understand one’s preference for the old model, but it is not all bad news with the new model.
@PardonMyEnglish
@PardonMyEnglish Год назад
I agree. It’s fantastic to be able to get an extra 10 mins on high mode. This even beats the high mode runtime of a standard AAA by about 10 mins. Having a lower low mode might also be appealing to some. 👍

Thanks Boss! Just bought myself the i3T, and this video was really helpful. You answered all my questions, Subbed. Clear audio/video, nice focus, Good Job!

Most likely olight found out the community is using 10440’s and improved the efficiency and reliability. Everything is a trade off, most likely the change is to support the 10440’s.
@PardonMyEnglish
@PardonMyEnglish Год назад
This could very well be the case. The runtimes are better on the newer versions and the output is highest on the older versions. I agree, it’s a trade off and comes down to the preference of each user.

Same here. But I can definitely see why the newer versions might be preferable for some 👍

@@PardonMyEnglish👍love both versions. I only have 1 at present, a solid copper one and haven't tried a 10440 yet, but soon 😁.

I've heard you say in a video a few months back that you think the i3T's the best from Olight, I didn't get it at first, but I do now, you got me into using 10440s and can't look back. Wish my i3Ts were older, just got into it in November and they all seem to put out the same lumens. Thanks for all the videos.

Thank you for the kind words! And I’m glad you like the i3T & 10440 combo as well.

Hello Mr English how are you doing today!? And I was wondering can you make a video on using your 3.2v cell in the donut version maybe the output changes a little as well and therefore maybe the heat on it is not so bad!! And maybe the runtime is a little different!! It's just a suggestion so it is entirely up to you my friend!! So thank you again for a great video and God bless 🙏….

Hi Marc, yes I conducted the high mode test with 3.2v LiFePo4 batteries and here’s what I found: The older i3T ran for 46mins and the newer i3T ran for close to an hour, so the newer i3T won by about 15mins which is good!
@Kinetic79
@Kinetic79 Год назад
Very good detail :) question - did you say you’re running a 3.2v LifePo4 that’s in a size similar to AAA for the i3t-and if so, two questions: what’s the battery #, and does it charge with the same universal lithium/NiMh charger? .. or did I misunderstand that you’re running the 3.2v cells in an AA equivalent size on the Olight i5t/i5*? Thanks!
@PardonMyEnglish
@PardonMyEnglish Год назад
Thank you! Yes, I am using LiFePO4 batteries from Soshine in the 10440 size for the i3T. I am charging them in the same charger I use to charge lithium batteries. It has been working so far but it’s a good idea to ensure that the charger you use is rated for 3.2v batteries. There are also LiFePO4 batteries available in the AA size from other brands as well if you’re interested 👍

I have 2 olight i3T bought on the same year & the other is really really brighter compared to the other one with 10440. Even the tail switch behave differently since the other is soft while the other is opposite. Both have their strong points. You didn't include on how to tell if your i3T is the earlier model or the later 1s.
@PardonMyEnglish
@PardonMyEnglish Год назад
Aside from using trying a 10440, I’m not sure if there’s a reliable way to determine the old vs. new models. With a AAA they both seem to behave in the same way.
@bernardtan1
@bernardtan1 Год назад
@@PardonMyEnglish Mine both behave differently in AA BATTERIES just like in 10440. Must be manufacturing inconsistency.

Maxlvledc got a bad light apparently and now says there is no changes in the i3t. Maybe they are having some QC issues.

Great review, thank you! How can you tell if you have an old version of the i3T? On your old model, what does the serial number on the barrel begin with? I think I saw KA on the brown one.
@PardonMyEnglish

That’s a good question. I’m not sure how to tell for sure but checking the serial number is a good idea. Mine is L32303131. Hope that helps!

Has Olight actually come out and said anything? Did you put some yellow on the knurling on your DT i3t-eos? Just double checked my Donut light & mine has the same kick as the older version. Just an FYI.

As I just shared with MaxLvlEDC: Damn… I fear that this ‘throttling’ seems to be real, as I have a brand new brown (military sand, or something to that effect) color i3t that I received from Amazon last week. It does not present any issues at all with the mode memory effect-in other words, always defaults to low intensity and switches/alternates to high as it’s supposed to. I have swapped out 3 different LiFePo4 3.2v 10440 batteries properly registering about 3.3-3.5v on my multimeter, and I get no perceptible increased output on either low or high mode. i tossed them into another, lesser flashlight that has only a single mode, and the intensity improvement is noticeable. it’s highly likely that the light rep was either uninformed, or misspoke. The fact that it’s on a color that I assumed would have a legacy chipset vs the pink donut model strikes me as a pretty bad sign. The LifePo4 cells were harder to get man hands on, and are actually safer for the health of the flashlight all around vs Li-Ion 3.7v, so that’s unfortunate for me.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing! I got my 3.2v LiFePO4 Soshine batteries on AliExpress. I just checked and was able to see them in stock, so I hope that helps.

At least it didn't completely nerf the flashlight. I still think they are awesome little lights with 3.7v batteries. It's hard to beat that size to light output ratio.

Does this work with the i3t plus ?
@PardonMyEnglish
@PardonMyEnglish Год назад
Good question. Unfortunately using two 10440s in the i3T Plus makes the voltage too high for the light to support. That’s what I’ve heard, anyway. I’ve never tried it and don’t have an i3T Plus, myself.

I'm new to this olight model is it pretty obvious to ditinguish between old and new model? I just bought the desert tan model from Amazon.
@PardonMyEnglish
@PardonMyEnglish Год назад
I think if you get the desert tan one, there is a good chance you will get the “old model”, as I call it. Both versions are fantastic though and operate the same way using AAA batteries. The difference just appears when using 10440 lithium rechargeable batteries (which are not recommended since the light can get hot when using them).
@gilbertrios5283
@gilbertrios5283 Год назад
@@PardonMyEnglish OK well the desert tan model is the one I have... I also found a copper and donut model. I fell in love with this model immediately. I've ordered 10440 cells so I can compare to AAA cell... I doubt it will get hotter than my tiny Fenix E16 which gets vert hot, not very warm but very hot in turbo mode! Thanx for the reply, I've been out of the loop in the flashaholic world and this model has dragged me back in. Lol
