Did you ever have issues with the light not turning on and you'd have to remove and re-insert the battery? I have that issue and it's the only gripe I have with the original S1R.

I've never met anyone disappointed in their Olight, and I'm guessing you've never owned one. I own several SureFire lights (including an M600DF with pressure pad), and a few Streamlights, and I absolutely adore my Olights. All high output lights step down, but go ahead "sTiCK wiTh oTHeR BRaNDs".

I have one too! Great light. Only complaint is that If you get metal across the metal switch on the tail it can freak out. Working in a fab/ machine shop all the metal airborne particles get stuck to the tail switch and cause a short :/ Need another smaller more compact light for work. Any excuse to buy another!

Yea my exact concern. I haven't bought a light yet but almost considering getting a previous version with the 300 lm spot to pick. I would like something in between 60 and 600! And I don't want to keep hitting 600 waiting for it to drop to 300. Killing battery etc

What have you purchased given this issue?

@@SimplifiedTruth I ended up just getting a tan one of these. Originally I was looking for a work light though. I'm an autobody tech. I don't like this lite for that but it's a sweet little edc light. It's to small to hold over an engine every day. I feel like I'll drop it and lose it in an engine bay. But I've been carrying it in the bottom of my pocket all week. I don't really use it accept to find dogshit in the yard at night and if I drop something under the couch. It's great for a tiny light to always have on you. If your looking for something for a more serious long term light maybe get something with an 18650 like the s2r?

@@SimplifiedTruth I will say that medium is plenty bright for the things I use it for. So if you want tiny and aren't going to be using it for hours at a time this thing is pretty sweet. It's impressive on high and turbo for such a small convenient light.

Yes, there are no real lumen numbers on most of them. I had a cheap 800 lumen light that was brighter than the more expensive 1,000 lumen light. That was about 4 years ago. Same issue came up with the 2 rechargeable spotlights we have at work.

This particular one is listed with a 1,000 lumen, 600 lumen, 60 lumens, 12 lumens, 0.5 lumens modes in the fine print. Both the 1,000 and 600 lumens, auto dim to 300 lumens after 1.5 minutes (or probably whenever the thermal trigger kicks in). Olight is reputable enough that their figures probably are correct. I have their PL-2 Valkarie weapon light and it compares with a 700 lumen UL labs tested light that I EDC. During continue use (600 lumens), the PL-2's light volume isn't quite as much as my EDC. The PL-2 is a 1200 lumen "peak" mode (1.5 minutes) and 600 lumen continuous mode light. The peak mode can be accessed as long as the light isn't thermally compromised. If you're using it a lot, that 1200 lumens mode lasts far shorter than that 1.5 minutes, from not being accessible to about 10 seconds in my experience, It's practically not usable in that situation. What I don't care for are the "turbo" and temporary peak lumens that have cropped up. Olight isn't the only one that does this, pretty much most of the major brands do it.

@@MacTX Personally, I'd rather have the turbo option than not have it. What are the drawbacks you see in having it? I have a foursevens mk2, and while I don't use the turbo very often, I sometimes use it and find it useful.

Yea, as far as I have seen it is backwards compatible. I used it to charge my H2R and S2R just fine!
