The boutique had one for display, I placed an order and I was told it might take a few weeks. I was the first to see it, but I’m not their first deposit. It’s not a difficult watch to make compared to the snoopy or the Ed White so the wait won’t be as long. It’s about the same price as a normal speedy and its dressier so for a speedy collector or for someone looking for a dressy speedy, it’s a good option. The dial is very white, great contrast with the hands and indices (even more than in the case of the white seamaster…I have that watch). Putting it on Daniel Craig was a cleaver marketing move. RJ Broer called it the Daniel Craig, maybe it’ll catch (RJ baptized the rising sun).
I'd actually wear this white one as a more sporty piece. A white dial Omega on a black rubber strap is just perfect. The Seamaster Diver 300M with the white dial and the black rubber is the best configuration you can get that watch with. But I see what you mean. Craig sported it perfectly with the formal attire.
I would go for this. I like white dials, and I love the pop of red on this. Being a sapphire sandwich means you have something nice to look at when you flip it over as well.
I’ve been handling Rolex, IWC, Cartier and JLC watches over the last few months - trying to decide on my next piece. Held this at the OB this weekend and immediately put down a deposit. Amazing construction, perfect symmetry, iconic design, and absolutely beautiful dial in person. Love the black indices and red pops.
I have the white Seamaster and absolutely love it, honestly gets more wrist time than my Rolex Sub or GMT II. Having said that, I just picked up the new 3861 sapphire sandwich a few days ago, then when I saw this today definitely had a bit of buyers remorse… but after further thought, the black 3861 will always be a classic and I think a must for my collection. Will have to keep on loving my white Seamaster till the watch fund gets replenished enough for one of these bad boys! Omega is killing it!! Oh, and their customer service at the ADs is way better than you know who… ;)
I love the Speedmaster heritage, and the only thing that has stopped me buying one is that I already have a chronograph watch, and only want one watch in each 'category'. Mine's a Zenith El Primero Class Sport Automatic, made around 2004 and bought as new (discontinued) in 2010. Can't fault it, looks really cool, no wish to part with it. I spent a fascinating few minutes comparing movements with this Omega (both have see-through casebacks) and was surprised by how much was similar!
One key difference other than the red accents and white dial is that the hour markers are applied and not painted like the black dial version. Very nice. I’ll wait 6/12 months and pick it up for a bargain. I assume the weight difference is from these hour markers and unlikely to be the dial lacquer.
I think this watch is going to take awhile to go below retail. How long did the Green Seamaster 300 take to go below retail? It's barely there now. I say 18-24 months with barely a discount for this Speedy. Buy it new and don't worry.
@@roamy3605 only difference is that we are in a downward trend on the watch market . I have 3 AD’s and they have all told me ( Omega boutique, Ben Bridge and Fortaine) that the demand is not there where it was before. I see it as a good thing because those of us who really like watches and collect them will be able to get the watches we want . But it may be a while until the price does drop , I agree
Never really been interested in a Speedmaster. I’ve been a Daytona guy and didn’t see the need to add another chronograph variant. However, this one has my attention. This is going to be a winner for Omega. I don’t think there’s a watch Omega has put out in recent memory that I thought I had to have. I may have to have this one..
I have an 1861 Hesalite bought at retail for nearly half the price of the new white dial! l love it for what it is and would keep it and add the white dial to the collection.
I was at the boutique today that has one in. I was told the white dial is slightly harder to make and this adds to the cost. As a Speedie owner of various special models, I like this white dial version. I always loved the white Snoopy model. I’ve the 50th Snoopy but find it less legible as the blue hands get lost against the blue sub dials. The 321 remains my favourite and the most legible. But this looks smart. And legible. It might be a good alternative to the unavailable white dial Daytona.
What a stunner. I was about to buy the regular black Speedy, but upon seeing this, I'm going to add the white one to my collection instead. Well done, Omega 👏
Don’t want it but I love it!,❤️ nice fit in the collection. I remember paying £1100 for a speedmaster in 2003 they have come along way 😂 and the snoopy was in the window for weeks! 😂 still prefer the black dial 👍🏼🎱
Hey Oison. You're one of the few watch You Tubers I frequent any more. You're down to earth and honest approach has always appealed to me. I appreciate you cover many of the affordable models which is great for a guy who sports AP's and Daytonas in his collection. I own two Speedsters one of which you own the early caliber 861 from 1985 and the latest 3861 co-ax both hesalite old school purist models. Like the new white dial but not for ninety one hundred Euros. Have a good one my friend.
Just been to the city today in Melbourne.. Popped into Rolex AD store hoping that they had some Rolex to sell but to my disappointment again nothing... its been over 18 months waiting to hear from Rolex AD Store, I'm just starting to collect Watches, Because the boutique only sells Swiss watches I had a look at the omega speedmaster because I hear that every watch collector should have this one in their collection.. So to my surprise the boutique had the omega speedmaster white dial to show me and wow, what a beautiful watch... it is... the one they had was already allocated to customer but told me that they could probably get one in for me in the next 4 to 6 weeks hopefully.. So I told him to go ahead.. Hopefully you do a full review on this watch anytime soon because I would like to know your thoughts..
Picked mine up yesterday at the Omega Boutique in Zurich! A beautiful Timepiece ❤ Thank you for making this wonderful review! Certainly supported my decision making process 🙏🍾🥂
I was also told there is 3-6 month wait! I got mine because I wrote the boutique on the release day & express my desire to add this to my 1998 Hesalite & Tokyo 2020 limited edition, in which the general manager reserved this for me! Sometimes reaching out & describing your quest to do something pays off 😂
I have the black moonwatch. It’s by far my most expensive watch. I love the white moonwatch but I won’t be in the market for one. I don’t have a Rolex yet so until I get one I will be saving for that day. Afterwords I would love a seamaster.
Relax on the Rolex. I've owned several and somehow the thrill of ownership doesn't match reality. But as a Watch enthusiast I know the lure of Rolex. It's unstoppable! Get your Rolex, find out where you are at, and then adjust/or don't. I'll definitely sell my Big Box Speedy hesalite to get halfway to this white dialed speedy. I think it's that good!
@ no problem dog! I'll be heading to Ireland end of August. West Coast for a wedding. If you're there let me know and we can grab a bite and talk watches.. cheers.
I have had my eye on the white dial Seamaster 300m, but this probably changes things. Price is a little hefty mind, but great looking watch. I have the MK40 speedy, mainly because I wanted to be a little different. Id keep that, sell my Omiwatari and add this. Thanks for the video Oisin, you know as much as I like Adrian and the likes, you are so easy to watch, with genuine, natural content. Adrian (sorry to pick on him) just sounds the same in every single video, a little staged, whereas you are far more relaxed and natural 👍
Very nice. The seamaster 300m white dial is also terrific. In a slightly related matter Tesla made white cars fashionable. There is a certain technical modernity to white. Like spacesuits.
The white dial looks gorgeous. I have the black sapphire sandwich. Will still consider this down the road to have a Ying and yang collection of speedy's...
I have been waiting for this release. Will definitely be picking it up in the white dial. Love the pops of red and now I want this over the white dial 300M
I think it’s a great looking watch. Love all of the added details but it’s not enough for me to get rid of my 3861 for a white dial. I can’t wait to see one in person.
Love it, already own the white dial SMP and the black Speedy… this is the offspring…..I’ll be buying one, not sure if to wait until they hit pre-owned market though as Omega lose too much value due to all grey marketeers saying they can get 30-40% discount, when they probably can’t 🤦🏼♂️👍
The question will be how much will the discount be in a year and not only that what will be the Greymarket price on this since it’s going to be a mass produced “Not Limited Production Watch”.
@@chrisjones6439 because unlike most Rolex sport watches Omega tends to lose its value on the secondary market after the initial hype . I have a speed master and want to get the new white dial but since it’s a non limited edition I can wait for 6 months to a year and get it cheaper . Think about it this way . All the people that went gonzo on the omega swatch hype and paid 1000’s over the retail price just to be the first ones to get one . I don’t see the advantage in that . First of all I am a collector and I don’t buy any watch to flip or sell. I also want to get the best price for the watch I want to buy. I got my speed master four years ago and paid $ 3800 for it while it was selling over $5900 from Omega and I bought it box and papers too . That’s saving almost 2k that I can use toward another watch I want to buy later . It’s just simple economics and not buying the hype .
I'm sure the slight weight difference and likely the price reflects the applied markers over printed. And the Canopus gold is really a silver dial, not really white.
35 seconds into this video and I’m already declaring this white speedy looks cool 😎 what have I never seen a white dial one before ? Seems such an obvious thing to do
It's funny, in central Europe the regular moonwatch is 8900eu, while the new white dial is 9000eu. Why Italy has 100 extra euros? 😅 Btw, 2 grams difference, maybe the applied hour indices, which the regular moonwatch doesn't have?
Damn, I've owned so many white dialed watches that I had to let go of because of the lack of contrast, dial/hands. I do own a Hesalite Speedy, and yes I will trade it away for this one. This looks like an instant classic to me. Whatever Omega does in the future I think this one will stand the test of time*.
A few interesting bits: no Hesalite version. 2 new straps available along with the bracelet, that should work on all 3861 Speedies. Perforated black leather strap gives Speedy more racing vibes. Black runner strap must be comfortable, but I don’t consider it to be a good fit for this dressier watch. I do own a Hesalite 3861. Speedy has been a grail of mine. Now that I got it I don’t feel like collecting the model. There are other great watches out there to be enjoyed.
Nice discussion as usual. I think the extra weight is coming from the applied hour markers versus the lume-only markers on the black dial version? At least part of the weight difference should be explained by that.
Been thinking about a snoopy as the prices are coming down. Might this cause the snoopy to come down more as an alternative panda dial? Albeit the snoopy is a silver dial
I Was never a fan of the white dial seamaster (purchased in black). It just made it look so much bigger on the wrist. Also never a big fan of the Speedy……..until now. This white shimmering dial makes it look slimmer, not as chunky and more sophisticated, dressier than the black. The contrasting black indices and hands are not overly heavy on the eyes like the newer Explorer II bringing a satisfying depth of concept to the wearing experience. Still at 42mm it may make the overall case seem larger than it really is in person but will give it a try. Perhaps the svelte 20mm bracelet will make it feel smaller on my wrist unlike the fugly seamaster choking wrist piece of s#@t (Geeeezus Omega can you taper that thing please). Nice vid. Thanks.
Human Nature is interesting, isn't it? If, since 1957, The Omega Speedmaster had always had a white dial, and then in 2024, they issued it with A BLACK Dial, everyone would be falling over each other to get their mitts on one !
In my humble opinion, it is much better to wear a promaster and enjoy it to the fullest, than wear a speedmaster on special occasions because it is too precious to bang about as a daily.
Not sure if I can justify to get this when I have the hesalite 1861 (in my mind, a better choice than the 3861 for many reasons).. so yes... this white beauty... maybe... It is rather clean and lovely looking... the new bracelet does pinch hair though...a bit of a shame (if it's the same as the one on 3861)..
