20 years since I bought this single as a young pup and listened to it on repeat for weeks. 3 kids, a marriage, a house later and I'm still listening. This song has been my longest love affair.
Hard to believe this performance will be 18 years old this October. New Order were in their 40s and I was 36 in 2001...Where does the time go? "Keep it coming."
Such a great comment Ben and we totally agree! Where the fuck does time go?!?!? What the fuck is life about?!? But whatever be strong in a mad crazy (beautiful at times) world and hey like you and New Order say Ben "Keep it coming!" Thanks for the comment :-)
One of greatest tracks ever FACT & this is one of greatest live performances ever FACT. Everything about this is pure class & genius, the backing vocal, the rhythm, the drumming the energy on this one is insane..its going off massive for the whole performance..it gives you goosebumps, the beginning, the outro & that BASS is off the scale of class.Even Bernards screams are spine tingling. They way they take it down at 4:05 then hit you again BIG at 5:12 as if to say we haven't done with you yet guys it gets better, is a beautiful moment & Hooky at 4:28 saluting the backing singer✊ Oh what id give to of been in that studio to see this one.👏👏👏
Nope it's not a "fact" that this song is "one of the greatest tracks ever." It's merely an opinion. And guess what else? Calling an opinion a "fact" doesn't change what it really is. It's still just an opinion.
This performane of "Crystal" is amazing! It's as if they really wanted to prove how powerful of a performance they could pull-off, and the whole band was phenomenal.
Seattle and Manchester, two beacons of dark light for a nineties kid that loves rain. It hardly gets better than this, this is New Order at its finest.
This band has an energy unmatched by any other. There is so much movement on the stage, everybody respect each other's role in the band and in general, you can feel the good vibes they radiate! They were in fact such a positive influence in my life that I started singing and playing the bass guitar, 'cause I wanted to be as energetic as Barney and as cool as Hooky. I owe these two so much! Playing bass and singing makes me just happy, especially when I'm doing New Order stuff. It's hard to put in words. Did I mention that Hooky rocks the show? Always drawing attention to himself, knowing how to make the audience freak out and still looking this composed and relaxed. That's what I call a bass player! Not somebody who stands in the shadow of literally every other instrument in the group, but somebody who proved to the world that bass is just as melodic and virtuous as guitar. Change my mind😂
@@ivanjulian2532 Anyone who reckons that this band doesn't have an energy umatched by any other clearly doesn't understand New Order in the first place.
Full circle, when this record came out I thought this track was a little cheesy, after some time really started to love it, and seeing this performance 20 years later, my god they destroy. Love the aggressive guitars and bass. Legendary.
The first time they were on Top of the Pops they were told that they had to mime, Hooky said " were not fucking doing it, we play live or we fuck off" lol Great live performance
How good are they ! I'm always amazed how good a band they are and they can always transport me out of my mostly mundane life to the pure enjoyment of being alive .
PS Mc Grogans English Services love you profile pic and hey the next video coming up on the channel will have a similar image! So look out for it especially if you like Krautrock ;-)
It's remaining exactly 9 days and there´s still time people !!!!! For those ones who enjoy all the amazing work in each song from this outstanding Band (Including the Joy Division period) I´am hopeful that until April 28th with the dedication and help of you (fans around the world), the amount of votes that are been collected (in each 24 hours a day - is possible to return and vote everyday) on Hall of Fame´s homepage; can make New Order get into the 5 indication positions for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame´s ceremony this year. Let´s share the "word" on your social medias and give our retribution to all great moments that these legends has provided in our lives for everything they represent to the history of world music (specially Rock and Dance). Congratulations New Order for your indication among another 14 bands this year (2023). You guys really deserve it for all effort and work to create, develop and share amazing songs in each album since the starting point. Long life and holpeful that you guys can return/visit my country with a new tour as soon as possible. Best regards from a nostalgic fan from Belo Horizonte City - State of Minas Gerais - Brazil !
I can't believe this song is 21 years old. In my mind it's 7-10 years. It has to be up there with their early classics in any review of their back catalogue. Peter Hook is immense on this.
Love it how they kick it off again at 4:30: Rythm section only, wide open spaced and building up again: goose bumps and eargasms all over the place. the best drug there is
Totally agree...this part is pure class, its as if they built it up in a box & BOOM opened the lid &let it go again on full power, it is absolute class...what a moment, imagine been there to see it live WOW!!👏👏👏
