If you want to see your favourite band and they are playing Scotland, see them there. The Scots know how to have a party. Personally travelled up from London for this gig, 3rd best ever ally pally 98 is 2nd, Reading 98 best ever. ( I say that having seen N.O. 131 times)
Don’t leave the Uk ….this group is a reminder of what your southern neighbours can do. This is one of the best ever performances/ versions - well done Glasgow audience
I must of watched this video a 1000 times,I never tire of it,Bass, Lead,Drums, Keyboards,Vocals,it’s probably one of the most perfect live songs I’ve been privileged to listen to.Immense Choon
This song live... I was honored to see NO perform live a few times - next coming up in September and I always get teary eyed from the pure pleasure, energy that radiates like the lights from the disco ball when this song is performed.
Bernand´s voice was better than ever at this concert, also the whole perfomance is delicious. Fuck, someone can borrow me his time machine? And some money for flight and tickets
In my home city of Glasgow where all the artists have always said they get the best audiences in the world. New order said that this was probably there best gig ever. If you ndon't believe me just look at the audience.
To be fair, many Scots have a long standing affection for New Order, rooted way back to the days of Joy Division and their live shows. So this is always awesome to see these Glaswegians singing along to all of their favorite tracks. Also...Temptation is an amazing New Order song. Man, I wish I was there.
soulminer 1970 I’ve been listening to it since the 80s and it’s still a thrill every time! I love Crystal too. And Bizarre Love Triangle, and Isolation, and Slow Jam and and and... But this is definitely the one!
glasgow has the best crowds in britain...full stop, the barrowlands is an inspiration when yer laggin on tour then the tm says "dont worry lads, glasgows in 2 days!!" lifts your soul, god bless glasgow! x
If only the young people could experience the 80s like we did! In 1987 New order could be heard in every bar on my college campus Univ of Cincinnati Any 80s kids miss the hell outta being young n free sunny days life was so much easier.. and new order the cure the fixx missing persons .. life was wonderful Hoping new order can tour usa this year god knows we are all getting older😎😎
They played this 1981... YES, this was released as 2 versions in 1982. I have that 7" (and 12" on cd & vinyl -SUBSTANCE- NYC-gig from NYC/1981 is on DVD. Also that's (or just version of Temptation) easy to find via YT.
A heaven, a gateway, a hope Just like the feeling inside, it's no joke And though it hurts me to treat you this way Betrayed by words, I'd never heard, too hard to say Up, down, turn around Please don't let me hit the ground Tonight I think I'll walk alone I'll find my soul as I go home Each way I turn, I know I'll always try To break this circle that's been placed around me From time to time, I find I've lost some need That was urgent to myself, I do believe Up, down, turn around Please don't let me hit the ground Tonight I think I'll walk alone I'll find my soul as I go home Oh, you've got green eyes Oh, you've got blue eyes Oh, you've got grey eyes And I've never seen anyone quite like you before No, I've never met anyone quite like you before Bolts from above hit the people down below People in this world, we have no place to go Oh, it's the last time Oh, I've never met anyone quite like you before Oh no, I've never met anyone quite like you before
Agreed. I’d love to hear a mix where that was brought to the fore. It’s the best. Someone once said (about ‘Temptation’): *THIS* is on Gods’ iPod. I totally know what they mean.
Yet no-one has ever done the perfect mix. I know exactly how it *should* sound (in my head), and it would devastate the world - tune of the future millennium - all I have to do is reverse engineer what’s in my head so that the mix could be achieved. Mad, or what? The ingredients are all there - it just needs the right production and mixing: sequencers upfront. Masterpiece.
@@stevearkwright Have you heard this? This is the precursor song to 'Temptation' from '81. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SwWp-27P0gA.html
Who's listening to this great song in 2021? I'm listening to it now in October. I laugh every time I hear Bernard Sumners at the beginning of this performance who has to try to dampen the enthusiasm of the Scottish crowd with, "stay calm, you know"! Only the Scots can make an English band feel so welcome unlike any other...
This is why live music is better that the studio. So much energy and passion. Love New Order and the Scottish crowd. I saw Alice In Chains (yes I'm a metal head as well) and the crowd sung right back at them like here. This is where the gems are.
The Scots have been trying to keep the English out for a long time but, not this lot. This sounded and hit me emotionally so hard. We Scottish Americans pale in comparison you all!
How I would wish to be one of the lucky ones in that night. Fingers crossed for an opportunity to see them playing alive in a new tour after these hard times. Long life New Order and thanks for everything that has been shared since the start point.
does anyone key in on Barney's guitar parts in masterpieces like this imagine if he'd never grabbed a mic, and just stuck to guitar and keys? such a underrated, creative instrumentalist!
Watching and listening and loving it from Melbourne Australia Just saw the Thamesmen reaction to this, brilliant seems I missed out on New Order when they first came onto the music scene but better late than never
This is wonderful (DVD)... Had watched it 10 years couple times a year... But they were awesome here in Finland too 2016. Waited it 20 years. They we're pisssed last time (1982)... I have bootleg, they don't say a word. P.A.-cable got whizzfuzz and it rained. Now 2016 we were inside. And it was warm and beautiful night. And it was a big tent. Nearly 15 000 ppl. We were front with my dear ex gf. Oh I miss her. Real fans was maybe 3000-5000 and biggest "Wow" was Blue Monday. Probably rest was just listened it or True Faith with their cellphones and had heard that band was a pioneer, legend and their past was dark. Or listebed Music Complete ... Hipsterfest, what you can expect x). We only went to see them. Sia sung when we left area (It was our [both] decision, 200€s felt then nothing.. I payed whole trip because I wanted her to witness something unusual/unforgettabe). I recorded gig with my olympus WS-650s recorder. Biggest thing (Ok, I guessed first song; Singularity.) to me was first encore: Decades. Quite rare! I'll try to find it. Here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GhO3m4TvNQ0.html That gave me chilĺs. Temptation was wonderful, also Your Silent Face. Plastic better than on record, BLT superb and It seemed that they enjoyed their reputation and even crowds reactions. Never forget...
@@johnpenabare4447 look up specifically Rush in Rio performance. And yes, to some extent, they did lolz.. Considering it's an instrumental, it's quite a remarkable feat haha
2:27 I've been fortunate to see new order twice in Sydney both times they sadly this masterpiece wasn't played but Hooky came out with the Light final song of the gig was this pure joy i could've walked out on to George st and been hit by a bus but would've died happy
Egos, fighting amongst themselves. Sinking their early earnings into a club. They didn't like touring especially to the states. Ironically they seem to be touring more now than then. They left alot of $$$ on the table for sure. Their library isn't as deep or up to the quality, longevity of Depeche Mode. Hence why Dave and Martin are worth about 200 million.
