My grandma grew up in New Orleans and surrounding areas! She has had 2 strokes and since stopped cooking and baking. She’s finally getting better and today I decided to surprise her with the idea of us baking this together! Thank you!!!
I am sorry to hear about your grandmother. Glad that she's doing better in her recovery. That's awesome. Let me know how the king cake turns out. You're welcome, not a problem!!
I’m a Baton Rouge native living in New Mexico and I just made this for my friends yesterday using your video and recipe, and it turned out amazing! They LOVED IT!! They want me to make another next year 🥴 yikes lol. But thank you for this!!! ❤️
Wow, that's cool. Happy to hear that the King cake was successful and that everyone enjoyed it. You're welcome, not a problem. Thanks for leaving feedback! :)
@charlieandrews you can probably do a virtual calendar with you doing taste tests with all your foods and winking or a photo calendar and people will buy it because that’s the world we live in today. That wink is sort of sexy. 😂 Keep doing you Charlie!
Best recipe ever!! Made this to take to work and everyone raved about it! The Baton Rouge native said it was the best King Cake she's ever had in her whole life! Charlie you are the KING of King Cake!
I made this King Cake. I had never had it with the cream cheese filling. I only added some chopped pecans. Unbelievably delicious! I'll never make it any other way. Unfortunately, I didn't have anyone to share it with so I ate the whole thing and enjoyed every bite! I can't wait to take this to someone's celebration when its safe again. Thank you for this recipe!
Can we all take a moment to give some love and respect to Charlie's table? I am always amazed at how it hasn't broken yet. I made this and it was oohh weee smack the table good, as was the king cake pound cake recipe. Been watching your channel for a few years now and you never disappoint. Always coming with the good stuff. Happy New Year.
Happy to hear that the King cake was successful and that you enjoyed it. I know right. Everyone has been waiting for years for my table to break. Thanks for leaving feedback and Happy New Year to you as well.
I left a comment a year ago and never ended up making it... until now! Still cooling off but looks good! Stole a small bite of the bread cause it broke when I moved it off the pan. Braids pushed back together nicely though. Yummy yeasty dough, definitely fluffier than the king cakes my family usually gets from Tubbs hardware in shreveport. I did one exactly like you did, and did one with a can of strawberry pie filling lined next to the cream cheese. I will say that using a fruit filling definitely makes the dough wetter and not bake up quite as beautifully, I might have also overfilled it. Hopefully will still taste good though, and will look fine once I do the icing & sprinkles. I'm excited to bring these to a boil & cut into the fillings!!! The braids are beautiful but I think next time I'll just do the simpler donut shape, easier to fit more filling in then I think. Thanks for the recipe! You seem super chill btw, like I'd wanna smoke a j with you hahaha
Hello there! I'm happy to hear that the King Cake was successful. Yes, the king cake is moister when filled. There is a limit to how much filling you add to a King Cake. The Simpler doughnut shape will work as well when filled. You're welcome, not a problem. I know right. lol ha ha ha Thanks for leaving feedback! :)
I'm going to introduce my Michigan co-workers and friends to your recipe so they can experience our New Orleans Mardi Gras traditions. Thanks Charlie, you're the best.
I miss the good old days when you said OK every other sentence, but now when I catch one it's that much more exciting... your humanizing qualities are your best characteristics, keep it up!
DeMink DeSigns and Brody Nola Wow that's something. I never knew people actually missed me saying all of those phrases. It was a habit and unfortunately I got rid of it. I was saying it wayy too much. I could always bring it back but I would do it less. LOL
I also live in a Mardi Gras city (Mobile, Alabama) that king cake looks great, shout out to New Orleans from Mobile Alabama. Let the good times roll tide roll
Thank You Charlieeee!! Its hard being a Nola Girl that now lives in Brooklyn, around this time of the year im always craving a king cake. no where to find one up here so ill def give this a try! you make everything look so easy!
Found this today, can't wait to make it myself. The construction of your cake makes others look like beginners. Love your narration, makes even a novice like me feel like I could do it. I used to live in MS and fondly remember the great king cakes we had when we went to New Orleans. Yours looks better. Thanks for the video and work that went into it.
I rarely comment on videos but I have to tell you this. My 4 year old son loves you! I have been watching your videos since he was little and he loves it when you bang your fist on the table! He has started doing it when he loves something I make. Lol. Thank you for your recipes. I'm from Slidell and your recipes are literally the best! My husband is military so we are pretty far but thanks for reminding me of home!
Hey Kirby! I am happy to hear that you and your son enjoy my videos. Glad that you son hits the table just like I do!! I appreciate the compliments. You're welcome, not a problem!
Hello was a perfect king cake I always get my from Gambino's bakery but that's look so good and delicious and you have more icing then the bakery like I like it have a bless weekend 🙏🙌👍👍
I adore you! At 46 I've been baking for 40 years. Grew up in SW Mississippi & then Mobile. I've never attempted to make a king cake, but today, I'm nervously doing just that! You're video has rid me of my anxiety! So many people around here beg for authentic king cakes.. so, if all goes well, hopefully I will resume my baking a few more years! Thank you SO much!
In Spain it’s called “Roscón de Reyes” which can be translated as “Kings’ Cake” after the Three Kings that bring gifts to baby Jesus. In Spain those cakes are eaten on January 6th.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3hUEhU_MCBE.html that’s an easy and fast video to watch. They hide a bean in the cake. Sometimes they put both a bean and a little present. That video is from Spain.
Charlie! Oh my gosh your dough was alive! Brilliant king cake. My dad used to set up a big table in the kitchen for my Mom in NOLA and Lawd she made SO many for neighbors. My brother and I did the sealing of the strips you braided. the cream cheese you added took it to another LEVEL!
Good Afternoon Charlie..Love everything you make it's made from scratch..Love the way you explain every thing.. Delicious..God bless you and your family always..🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️
This looks like the best king cake ever, and I have had a bunch of them. He makes it look easier than the others. I can't wait to make it. Thanks for the instructions.
hey charlie is me teresa and oh my gosh your recipe for king filled cheese filling cake is absalutley delishous so what can i say about the dough well you started mixing the ingridients together with the dough atachment and stand mixer until it resembles into a dough and the good thing is that the dough never sticks into anybodys hand when its done and it never sticks into your hands and thats really impressive and when you put all purpose flour around the surface of the table people are not trying to make a mess and i love the presentation when you crossed the dough together and baked it on 400 degrees when you made the cream cheese filling it was so creamy and smooth without lumps just the right texture i couldnt imagine how good creative and honest you are with cooking one of the things that i like about you are your demonstrations the presentation of the ingridients and the most important thing is tasting the food you never know if it tastes good and i loved the way that you bring pressure to the kitchen your my favorite chef from lousiana and specially new orleans because you were raised in lousiana and what i like about your recipes are the presentations and demonstrations you always have something in comment it is so fantastic when you put the toppings on the cake it looked beautifull and when you cutted a slice of the cake on the inside it looked perfect and on the top it looked decorated you made my heart even happier charlie and made my mind blowing away with you i mean you are so proffesional and so talanted i just keep loving your recipes i will follow the demonstrations on this cake hopefully you can get emotional when i send you this message from miami to new orleans keep up the good work and keep making good recipes on your youtube channel because you are unbelieveable and so wonderfull be happy when i send you this message with happiness and joyness

@@CharlieTheCookAndrews Okay, I just have to share a picture of the final one - I made a gluten-free (well, gluten-friendly) version and it was beautiful and is delicious: facebook.com/thecgjw/posts/928141987726128. THANK YOU!!!
Thank you sooo much for uploading this ! I live in Texas and can’t get any good ones at all I’m not coming home for Mardi Gras so I was even considering paying high shipping for one till you uploaded this definitely gonna make this
I loved seeing all the ingredients and the different types of labels from Canada vs. New Orleans! We have some similar brands and some different. I love that you use all high-quality ingredients. It really does make a difference!
There's a video here on RU-vid where Paul's pastry that originated the field kingcakes came from and they demonstrate their king cakes feeling and it has a whole lot more filling to it and it tastes a whole lot better
OH yeah! Charlie, Charlie!! You have the most beautiful voice for sharing instructions! I can't wait to try your recipe! I asked a friend on Facebook who brags about her king came to give me her recipe weeks ago. I'm not waiting any longer! You have my full attention, Sir!☺
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!! Your braiding technique really helped my husband and I make our own homemade king cake confidently! Love your channel and can’t wait to make more of your recipes.

I haven’t had king cake in years. A woman who worked in my old office was raised in Louisiana and she used to have them sent to the office every February. My lord so good.
Charlie, you be reading my mind. Everytime I think about cooking something your channel pops up with what I'm thinking about, definitely making this one this week. Thanks again, Love you and your channel. Your recipes are TTTG (Tap That Table Good)!!!!
