I'm happy to say that I did get a chance to see them live...mid to late 2000's sometime. Had all of their CD's in my truck driving to and from high school. My favourite song from The Hip is probably Blow At High Dough.
Guitar is bluesy af, love it. Gord Downey was known for being a great stage performer so I have to appreciate that you heard a studio recording first. They are good live but their studio sound is excellent.
Agree and riffs in this song are dirty:) Fun fact: I saw TH live in a nightclub in Halifax, Nova Scotia while they were touring for their 2nd album. This was at least 25-30 years ago. Thanks for watching.
@@llarose BTW I also saw them at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto in the late 1980s before they released their EP. They hadn't found their songwriting lane yet, but they were so fun nonetheless.
@@djknox2 Not sure if it was related to her, but they brought a full camera crew that weaved through the audience. I could only find 1 small clip on RU-vid.
Fun fact, well I wouldn’t really say fun, but after Katrina the band would not allow that song to be played on the radio in the US or Canada out of respect for the victims. I’m glad someone finally got the lyrics, and what they meant. I especially love hey north your south shut your big mouth, like hey Canadian boy you’re on my turf let me show you how it’s done. I also believe they recorded the song in New Orleans.
Yes, I was thinking this song foreshadowed Katrina, but really had nothing to do with the sub-ocean level of the city. As a Canadian from birth, I had a few chances to 'do' New Orleans similarly as instructed in this song. Lol. Thanks for watching
You got your self a new subscriber... You are only a one of a few Reactors wwho actually reeact... ( not stopping thsog every ten seconds and giving you 1210 minute analysis... turning a two minute song into a 40 minute song!.... Thank you very much, this is a hobby-based channel re-visiting songs (mostly) from my past and yes, I agree, some of those reaction videos are cringe with all the stoppages and fake reactions. I will never monetize this channel. I think it is why I don't really care about all the theatrics:) Get that list over to me! Lol.
The emotional power of "New Orleans Is Sinking" captures the essence of their impact, carrying their legacy into the 90s, 2000s, and beyond. 🇨🇦❤️ Thank you for remembering Gord and appreciating the enduring spirit of Canadian music. 🙏
Haha, yes, I get that sometimes. Pretty dramatic win for the Bills this past weekend. They should be able to bury the Patriots next week. If you go back in this channel a million years ago, I used to publish NFL predictions, for example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IFXIU8kKySs.htmlsi=B5_BnkmhuXLG2-Hz
