"Recently, several artists started creating murals on a blighted building in the 9th Ward neighborhood, dubbed 'The Ghost Ship'. It’s been dangerously crumbling & a few beams almost took a guy out while he was walking by. For years, the Music St neighbors have been trying to get the city & absentee owner to do something about the building.
Finally, one of the neighbors (who is lovingly dubbed Mayor of Music St) began recruiting artists to paint murals on the building. It’s transformed from an eyesore to an art installation.
The day after the 'Mardi Gras Indian Queen' mural (@ 2:30) was completed, there was an Emergency Demolition notice hung on the building by the city.
Check out the beautiful Ghost Ship at Music & Urquhart before it sails away."
