In this episode of our New Orleans Restaurant Review Videos we are visiting Barcelona Tapas which is one of my all time favorite restaurants! In my opinion this Spanish restaurant is currently New Orleans best Spanish cuisine and one of the very few authentic Spanish tapas options in New Orleans which we will soon see in this Spanish food review video. Barcelona Tapas is located in the New Orleans Riverbend area at 720 Dublin Street which is about 16 minutes and 6 miles away from the New Orleans French Quarter. The owner and chef of this restaurant, Xavier Laurentino, is from Barcelona, Spain and he has a definite knowledge of Spanish food along with plenty of experience with many other cuisines. Chef Laurentino opened his first restaurant Laurentino’s in Metairie back in 2002 and that is where I first enjoyed Chef Laurentino’s amazing food. Laurentino’s closed in 2009 and in 2010 Xavier opened Barcelona Tapas in New Orleans so I have continued to enjoy the wonderful food and fun here ever since. Chef Laurentino also has skills in construction and built much of Barcelona Tapas himself so it is nice to admire all the hard work he put into the space. The transition from Laurentino’s to Barcelona Tapas did lead to menu changes and some of my favorite dishes are sadly no longer offered but there is still an amazing selection of fantastic food. There have been many other restaurants that have come and gone in the Riverbend area while Barcelona Tapas has remained with a dedicated local following. Many people consider this one of the best Spanish food options in New Orleans and they provide some amazing food options along with a lot of fun.
