@@TheLakers24788 It may seem that way, but even if they're exhibition matches, every team uses the preseason to pretty much finalize their depth charts so they can choose who will dress for the season and who is out. Practice and drills can only do so much. Playing in an actual game is a test of how hard the backups have been working and where they'll eventually end up.

Going to be a tough season for the saints. Kamara was the heart of that team

@@babyj5566 Nah. It'll be a good season. Winston is back, as well as Thomas, Lutz, and most of the OLine that was out last year. Add in Landry, Olave, and some of the other promising candidates here - people will continue to underestimate the Saints. The only reason why they struggled tonight was the backup OLine and Books. The OLine couldn't give Books enough time to work his arm, but when they did - Books did "ok". I still wouldn't rely on him though. Put in the starter squad against the Texans' starter squad and this wouldn't have been a contest. Texans D is pretty good though, but again, it was against backups. They couldn't stop Dalton/Washington much in the 1st quarter.

"As a Saints fan: I'm glad we got Andy Dalton:" Basically the same as Ian Book, except he has a stronger arm - Winston has the arm, escapability m but he has to keep INTs down. Simeon is light years better than Ian Book.

I'm also very concerned about Penning. The Saints drafted him to go LT, but he's not doing too great of a job at it. They had him in for most of the game and he allowed too many break-ins. If he plays like that again, I hope they have a good replacement, because he'll most likely end up as a draft bust.

@@SuperOmnicronsj44 Dalton showed he has better awareness than Books did. The Texans D couldn't really stop Dalton and Washington. But once they sent in the backups for OLine and sent Books out there - holy crap did the offense crumble. As for Winston, he only had 3 INTs last season. He was on pace to only have 7 if he hadn't gotten injured. He had the highest QBR in the league before his injury. I'm not worried about Winston at all. That was mostly Bruce Arian's offensive system that failed Winston.

Daniel Sorenson happened I didn’t like that we picked him up but the defense was different like we’ve always played fast but New Orleans defense was playing faster than I’ve ever seen

O line needs some work. Book is a sack magnet. Either he needs to let go of the ball sooner, or be needs better protection. Backs need to work on the fumbling issues too

I’m sorry but most of those guys playing at the end of this game aren’t going to be on the 53 man roster in a couple weeks. Brian Allen, who? Fields, who? They aren’t gonna play a single minute even if one or two of our starters miss time with injuries

Both of those plays in the 4th were blown coverages & miscommunication between 3rd & 4th string players who are hoping to make the team by playing on special teams. They're not even backups, they're reserves trying to make a name for themselves in hopes of making ANY team. 1st preseason game objectives: let the backups' backups get some playing time, see how they look & get everyone back on the bus with no injuries. Individual plays & the final score are worthless.

After Allen intercepted that deep ball he had three bad plays in a row within last 1:51 of 4th QTR (blown coverage / missed tackles) that directly caused Saints to lose... while he was just signed, it looks like he's got a way to develop into a dependable CB who plays w/ poise...

Dog the Saints 2nd team killed the Texans and got pulled after 1 drive. The only take away from that game was the Saints 3rd string is awful and the Texans 2nd/3rd String is slightly better than the Saints 3rd string.
