Hi Chan-I think that the cold water tightens the skin and makes it less sensitive allowing the razor to glide more easily.

I have no doubt that it is a quality razor, and should in theory shave as well as a quality de razor because we obviously only use one side of a de blade at a time. I was just curious how there could be a benefit in a se blade? Believe me when I say that I’m all in on a solid razor rotation! Conceivably too far in! 😂 What used to be a chore is now a passion. I have learned a lot from these videos and continue to enjoy them. Thanks.

I have an old GEM single edge razor that is much more aggressive than my other DE razors. I use that when I’ve let my hair grow for a while and need something more aggressive. But I agree about not seeing the point of the half DE single edge design unless in a shavette type razor that mimics a straight edge. But aesthetics are certainly a factor.

Hi Geofatboy, i understand that single edge blades work differently to DEs, the sharpness on the single edge goes quickly, sometimes after one shave and in some cases the Barber has to replace the blade while half way thru shaving a customer. Thanks for the video. All the Best... Btw, you didn't really smash your bowl did you, thought those ones were indestructible?

It's easier and faster to swirl the brush on the soap then go to the bowl or face lather.

Does this actually put on enough pressure while shaving since this is single edge razor... I consider double edge razors are more heavier than this! I understand blades also takes an active part for smooth shave but as far as razor's performance concern, how it is comparing with double edge razors

You do have to apply slight pressure to the skin for it to work properly since it's so light (aluminum) but it's no big deal and it shave nice!

Is the any side overhang from the blade when it is loaded? Did not look like it from what I could see. Looks like a very nice SE razor, I’m curious how it compares to the Leaf “Thorn” or “Twig”. I have both and use the “Thorn” when I have several days growth, the “Twig” can definitely by a daily driver. Cheers Geo!

I have started using warm water as everyone suggested but I didn't feel any difference. Also I don't find putting warm towel on my face helpful as it gets cold within 3-4 seconds. What am I doing wrong?

You are correct. It's the "hobby" aspect. It may not be logical but it is fun to have a variety of razors. Maybe the single edge is for those who confuse easy and can't remember which side they just used.

🇿🇦 Bad news .. saw on another shaving channel snapping a double edge blade to use on this razor. Some blades snap / break uneven and had to do a work arround to find a way to fix the issue to use the snapped blade. The issue is because of the uneven snap and because the design of the head of the razor the edge / cut side of the blade don't appear or petrude even .. blade is not seated even! Don't say it is going to happen every time but just a headsup to look out for it!!😳

@@jefife750 try the Leaf Twig or Thorn (single edge razors) .. no issues accept for the handles tend to get a bit slippery .. but .. no other issues. You won't be sorry .. 😉

Yeah, one channel is about two years old, and has said such things like “I don’t own a shop, I’m not trying to sell you anything like Geo or some others, I’m only going to be honest”. It’s an obvious backhand approach to try and disqualify guys like Geo, Matt and others. They act like they aren’t in it for anything, but they are trying to build subscriptions. Which is fine, but he shouldn’t do it by trying to knock down “originals” that made them want to get into the hobby in the first place. I immediately block any Channel that says stuff like that. It’s disrespectful iMo. And they only want subscriptions so they can get monetized. People that put down others to build themselves up are personalities that I will avoid. Geo is one of the best🙏🏼💪🏼

I'd never do just one pass - I'd just use an electric razor for that. If I shave with a blade, I'm shaving to get a very close shave.
