Uniball one in .38 Dries super quick.

A good starter fountain pen is a Lamy safari, great choice of nibs from EF upwards. Also the pilot metropolitan is a really good planner fountain pen. I don’t like carrying about anything too expensive in my planner, though I do have some high end fountain pens. Used to be able to get them around £15, but maybe more pricy now. If you get the version made for the Japanese market the nib is finer as they tend to prefer fine nibs. The downside is the refill is the Japanese style but I just refill with a syringe from bottled ink anyway as it’s much cheaper. Prefer to reuse cartridges as they hold more ink than the converters.

I use the hi tec Coleto in .3 or the uniball one in .38. I like to use purple ink💜
