This is one of the best Cheesiest Man Alives yet. Most of the CMAs seem to be moderate cheese turning into just another macro game, but that last game was proper cheese worthy of the title of Cheesiest Man Alive - cheese layered upon cheese layered upon cheese. More like this, please!
Harstem 17 hours ago: Good protoss scout the terran wall with probe scout and shade to check for early reaper or reactors. Harstem now: Never scout the wall. Take damage.
Thoroughly enjoyed today's edition of Cheesiest man alive! That last game was really fun to watch and your commentary is top-notch! You are a content monster!
For the early scout. I guess he was trying to skip the reaper from the begining. Thus sending an scv early for scouting and the baracks goes straight for reactor.
That first game against the terran player, I could feel his pain of wanting more units and have no ability to produce any lol. Reminds me of times I want to jokingly spout out no rush 20 minutes.
As a Terran this is what I was afraid of with the new Cyclone. It still isn't going to be a good midgame unit, and has completely lost that early game defender role. We're going to end up making 2 Vikings every game
@@mihairo83 Yep, I'm pretty sure completely shits on that "standard" opening, which mean the only stable opening now is blink stalkers. Any SG play might as well just be cheese since if opp has the right response, it's just as bad.
why not just build 2 base tempest and focus on denying scouting with no proxy? The surprise isn't the speed the units get across the map, the surprise is the arm composition so the extra 6 seconds are no big deal, and you get more mining the whole time
@@zardecil9419 yes you still need to proxy the batteries. The proxy still takes time to get across the map, so the difference is not much more than 6 seconds.
@@zardecil9419 I just timed it. The difference between a common proxy location used in this video and the natural is about 15 seconds. Not worth all the money you spend trying to keep the proxy alive. You can just build extra production structures and be much better off and macro out of it if it fails instead of losing all the stargates.
@@AntiDoctor-cx2jd building extra stargates means less gas for tempests, the only production you're getting with the minerals is gateways and zealots, maybe warp prism. Battery + pylon is more helpful for the push, the main cost is multitasking
to be honest that barcode hard-counter terran looks fishy to me... he starts the scout as captain throws down the 2nd gas, then reactor before scouting sees anything, and directly goes to the proxy stargate... maybe it's reasonable response out of an experienced 6k player, but it's so smooth and pin-point that I almost felt it's a hacker trying to disguise
Scouting barcode players very early is a good paranoid move imo since you don't know what they are up to. Plus if they are doing something sneaky they'll get annoyed which adds to the mind game I probably have no clue what I'm saying and this is probably just my low elo mindset
Looking forward to seeing the weird bandaid patches to address Tempest's 3 shotting this new Cyclone, which is fairly silly. But then they are already on the slippy slope of re-calibrating the whole game to suit this latest version of the cyclone, bad idea.
Yea at this point remove the damn cyclone..its the mech reaper, good early on then basically useless except for cheeses...and every attempt to fix it has made it OP or just bad.
This is not fair. Terran units are supposed to outrange the units of the other races. It's just the rule. How are terrans supposed to be competitive if their units aren't better in every way?
That poor guy. Imagine being 5k and relatively confident in your mechanics. You're just figuring out the new patch and finally finding the right answer to an annoying new cheese. Your reaction is completely fine but then you still loose, simply because you cannot keep up with a pro player. I know Harstem isn't doing it on purpose but it must still suck for those on the receiving end. Also I guess it wasn't just Harstem. At this point in time NA must have been flooded with foreign pro players. Having half a hundred pro players rushing through your MMR range must totally feel like, 'well let's try again in a week and see if they're gone'.
Tempests did not need this buff. They're already awful to deal with. What do you do against it? Only thing I can think of is kill the pylons before the first Tempest is out.
@@chloesmith4065 no need to go in blind but if you have 1,1,1 already built then you should be able to add a second star port with a reactor for vikings with your first on a tech lab for the interference matrix. If you go triple rax opener I guess ghosts for emp with your marines
Idk... marines, vikings, thors? Raven helps, cyclones help... 🤔 ... and I was so eager to try my BCs... every game. I wish those damn Tempestes were never invented...
captain i have just this very moment thought of a balance patch that could fix protoss vs terran! it involves the high templar and disruptors! what if... disruptors balls cost MANA and high templar storm was on a cooldown!?!
Early scout is likely a reaction to be cheesed so often, so not "idiotic". Getting mad about it isn't rational, either. Reminds me of this dude in a Hold'em game that called my bets with a high pair while I had low 2 pair and won and got mad because my bets "didn't make any sense" yet he lost by calling my bets LOL
On last game you were lucky he didn’t Commit whit vikings on your last tempest … you would have lost… also, should have built stalkers way muuuuuuch sooner…
I really hate the tempest buff. It doesn't really help protoss' late game. It just makes an old cheese way harder to defend. Combined with the cyclone rework, almost impossible if unscouted. Super BS. Worst change in the new patch for sure.
Yeah please change the cyclone back to the way it was. It was a pivotal tool in defense against rushes like this, void ray rush, bc rush, etc. and honestly it doesn’t feel better in battle mech after the patch, so it’s just a fail. Useless unit now.
honestly, that last game was a bit painful to watch with Harstem's *TERRIBLE control* and failure to close the game ASAP... Didn't it cross his mind when he started sieging up that STARPORT, that as soon as SCV's had arrived to repair, he should switch to A-click instead, so that his Tempest can acquire them SCVs? *EVEN AFTER HE GOT THE ORACLE AND HAD COMPLETE VISION OF THE AREA,* he STILL failed to focus SCVs once they started coming into full range of his Tempests to repair Port. 31:54 -- look at this... he sees that the oppo's Vikings have redirected northward to save the N-East base, and yet *he makes NO MOVE against the Terran's main even though it's empty... -_-* Bad, bad Harstem... Poor. Weak. :P *P.S.* EDIT: oops, I also forgot... going for *ship WEAPONS* upgrade instead of *the OBVIOUS **_ARMOR_** and **_SHIELDS_* when facing VIKINGS... it's just NONSENSICAL... ~_~ .
Is this sarcasm? +1 shipweapons vs vikings with tempest is a major deal while armor upgrades do absolutely nothing. This whole comment is written like some 3k player with no idea about anything, but I might be falling for a joke, it's hard to tell with youtube comments sometimes.
Yeah I don't get it. I tested it and it just feels useless. Now it's just a normal, cheap non-specialized unit, basically just a marine for mech compositions. It used be this expensive and situationally effective unit that worked if you used it well against certain things. Now "look at me I'm kinda shooting on the move! TOPTIER MICRO!!" While really it doesn't even matter, it's just a unit you mass out of a reactor until you get enough of real mech units.
@@Avermrathe issue wasn't mech wanted marines. It's that the specialty rush counter got changed leaving a big vulnerability for T, unless they rush vikings/raven.
What a bastard that last guy is. he's so lame scouting so early. I bet he thought he had you by the balls and im so glad he lost. Double viking production lol.
