storywise genshin is one of those games that u start like "oh, this is a cute, colorful, wholsome game!" but the more you dig into the story and the world's lore (that half the time is not even adressed in the main story, u only learn it by side quests and exploring) you're like "oh... oh wait... oh that's actually... kinda dark..." like, they dont smack u over the head with it but if you pay atenttion you realize some stuff are just... not quite right...

actually since the beginning genshin has always had a deep and dark history

About the overworld being built well and being immersive and about world quests and story quests (quests about the story of a particular character) I can tell you for sure that they are AMAZING. The world is beautifully crafted, not only visually, but it's also full of lore and the story is getting better and better with time. Character's too are awesome, they are their main selling point ofc so it's no wonder they are this special. But most important of all it's the music. Man you have no idea how good the music is: all the locations have multiple soundtracks, all characters have their own theme for the demos, different regions have different battle themes and boss battle osts are masterpieces too. Honestly you could very well not play the game if you don't feel like, but the music it's absolutely worth checking anyway. You can appreciate the ost on spotify and you tube, at least those that are posted since they've been released for a while, but experiencing everything in game ofc connects everything much better

Dude the music of this game is phenomenal, and that's an understatement. Props to Yu Peng Chen for creating such consistently epic music. He did not disappoint in the Sumeru OSTs and I can't wait to hear the music in Fontaine next.

If you want to know how the story progresses, you should watch the version trailers (there are usually event stories mixed into these trailers too, so not all of what you see there is the main story). And if you want to see more on the characters, you can check out the character demos, and collected miscellany for each character's gameplay (though the miscellany will be longer)

Hell yeah the Genshin lore is like that. Tho you have to read hella many books in game to get somethings. Or you can try and find videos on the books.

yo the lore of this game is AMAZING i dont think they have the best delivery of this lore, since most of it casual/normal players wont know about since you need to search for it youself in the books in the game, quests and artifacts/weapon lore, but there are many amazing youtubers/streamers who talk about lore and theories, ashikai and islandXD are ones i really reccomend (not now tho because most of it would be spoiler) but genuinely its very well constructed, it has references from a lot of different cultures and mytologies, just for theories i had to study deeply chinese myths and demonology. honestly the best part of the game imo

Nahida and Raiden Shoguns are what cement them as the turning point in the archon quests. That's when the themes go into some personally deep shit about grieving and being gaslit to expectations you can't even achieve.

Albedo is an alchemist. He can create things with alchemy, that's why that monster can come out from his picture. But he has a bad habit of not finishing his drawing properly, so that monster ends up like that =))

Genshin is more about lore rather than mini games haha. So the side quests are about stories about the places, goods, characters, puzzles and myths. Heck they even have books that are like novels. But they recently added mini games

Kokomi is waging a war against Raiden Shogun. Or more like a rebellion, since Kokomi's Watatsumi island is part of Raiden's Inazuma but as an autonomous region. The relations between Inazuma and Watatsumi were never warm though. Watatsumi used to have their own god that they followed and worshipped, a truly massive and benevolent sea serpent, dozens of kilometers long. But one day the serpent went mad and started a rampage, so Raiden Shogun went and killed the Watatsumi god in one blow, cleaving both it and an entire massive island in half. Since then the folk of Watatsumi while subjects of Inazuma, do not view Raiden kindly even if she had a good reason to slay their god. And when certain decrees of Raiden rubbed them the wrong way, they were more than ready to jump at the opportunity to rebel. And solely thanks to Kokomi's talent at leading armies they do so well. But Raiden herself does not participate in the war, instead letting her armies and generals to fight it out. But if she did, the war would be over in a day. No amount of planning and strategizing by Kokomi would stop Raiden from erasing their entire army in one blow like she did with their god serpent. The God of Thunder and Lightning does not mess around.

Also the regions don't fight each other, there is no reason to but maybe someday there will be a war due to something. The war in Kokomis trailer is a domestic thing for her region with a rebellion happening due to the events at the time

Haha! The Gunnhildr girl on Eula's trailer is Jean, who is technically Eula's boss since she is the Acting Grand Master. Visions are what makes people being able to wield the elements. It's not a big spoiler since you find out in the first 30min playing it. Archons are the seven ruling gods in the world of Genshin (Teyvat). There are gods that aren't archons, but all the archons (so far) are gods. Some stories can be really tragic, yeah, but some are joyful too. The overall story is a mixed bag.... we aren't even half-way through it, though, so it's hard to tell what is going to happen.

Oh yea Fun Fact in both the Japanese and Chinese languages the Genshin and Honkai VAs are the same people. Ex Otto is Ayato’s VA, Nahida is Theresa, Raiden is Mei and Yae Miko is Yae Sakura and the list goes on

Genshin is pretty dark and it will get dark from here on. The first time I played I thought wow what a lovely open-world game, nothing but fun happy, sunshine game, but the more you play, the more you discover that nothing is what it seems.

You can enjoy the game without having an extensive knowledge of the lore, this game has mf skyrim books. You can just enjoy the current story and events with character stories WITHOUT HAVING to look into the lore and story of the world most of the time, its important sometimes for more lore intensive characters though
