The president Washington is not a CB radio. In the US you must hold a General class or higher Amatuer radio operators license to use it. If it had a built in morse code keyer you could use it with a technicians license. Ten meters and 12 meters are not for CB use.. The price for this amatuer radio is from $380.00 - $400.00 dollars. The CB radio version is the President George which sells fro $280.00 - $300.00 dollars.
Yes Vicky you are correct this video was released days after the President announcement. But there is some confusion. It is actually somewhere in the middle as it is marketed as an export cb radio and a ham radio in the USA. In the video itself at 1:41 you’ll see it’s on the president website showing the radio as “CB/Ham radio” Thanks for the clarification.
FYI The Privacy Tones are not Private. CTCSS and DCS only limit what you can hear and not what others can hear. I do like this radio but I have moved on to being a Ham. This radio would have been awesome back in the 70s when a lot of people had CBs and used them mobile while walking or riding a bicycle or at home. None of us owned cars and did not need cars in New York City. It was our Facebook and cell phones of the time. Never ever t talked to a trucker.
Yes you are correct they are not fully private. I have heard this comment every so often that these types of changes to CB like the addition of FM are nice but years too late. That could be the case but I still enjoy getting on the radio and listening to radio and that’s why I do these videos. Thanks for watching and commenting.
This President Washington is a HAM transceiver that is able to transmit on 11 meter. So it is NOT a CB radio. İt is an amateur radio that transmits on 10 - 11 and 12 meter.
Yes on this one you are correct . Some are strictly CBs some are strictly a Ham radios and then there is the inbetween world of the export radio. A gray area for sure. I appreciate the clarification as this video came out days after the release from President and there was some confusion from them if you go to 1:41 in the video you see right from the President site it’s listed as a CB/Ham radio. Very true. I bring a CB when I travel and there is still some chatter on 19 but no where near what it once was. Shame. It’s One of the reasons I like promoting radio in general and CB in particular. Thanks for watching and commenting.
This radio comes from a long line of what’s marketed as “Expoet” radios which are marketed as a ham radio in the states and a CB radio in other parts of the globe.
@@Slickheadhunter if you operate this radio on the 28mhz band yes you need a license . That band is part of the Amateur Radio service . 27mhz is part of the Citizen Band and no license is required. Hope that helps .
