Injector style razors have been around for a long time but the most well-known names (Schick, Eversharp, PAL, etc.) have been out of production for years. But new players have entered the market with some great products!

I remember watching the first videos you mentioned those type of razors some 13, 14 years ago. I'd also like to use the opportunity to thank you for the passion and effort to spreading of wet shaving, mantic, aka Marc! - why mantic59 anyway? I always wondered about this ever since. Some 16 years ago, just starting out using the first tools for wet shaving and having discovered your channel, I did not only learn so much from your reviews, recommendations and advice, I also used it to practice the American English accent and it's phonetics, and here I am today with 30 years of age, more knowledge about shaving than I'll ever be able to pass to my son in the future and my degree as language correspondence clerk plus additional six semesters in translation and interpreting. I guess that's not too bad at all. Thank you from Germany. I'd love the idea of exchanging experiences with you in some future one day. Howdy and best wishes, Chris!

"Mantic59" came from a random variation of a screen name I had on another service but was already taken on RU-vid. :)

I got a schick adjustable at an antique store in amazing condition for 12 bucks. Just soak in barbacide for 24 hours and scrub heavily with a toothbrush, blow dry with compressed air, ensure the blade is removed. Insert a new blade and there you go.

I see these every now and then; but I don't think I could give up my DE razor for an injector - especially when it seems most shown here aren't actually injectors at all.

I’ve used injector razors since the beginning, which for me was age 14 in 1965 with type I (eye). These had several manufacturers/subtypes and the best are very good. Type J similar with longer handles. Type L and type M (adjustable) are my favorites of the originals. I have and have gifted NOS type Ls that were sent out in cans in the late 70’s/early 80’s - these are excellent razors. I sent one to Sig Solo if you want a review. I do not know why the “classic” which is supposed to be a copy of a Type L is such a flop but I agree with you that it is. I also have and like Supply SE and Pro and agree they’re good razors but for me they are too heavy for injectors even though I like heavier razors when DE format. The Hype is a bit weird in my hand but not a bad razor and certainly an interesting design. I have an earlier Parker adjustable and it doesn’t hold a candle to Schick Type M in my use. I too like milder razors and use both in their lower range. I had an original Artist Club Asylum and it was so overly aggressive for me that I wasn’t tempted to try the injector that doesn’t inject version. In summary I agree with and appreciate your article and video and just wanted to add my 2¢ since I started using at 14 and am now 72! I also agree that the Supply Black Label blades from Japan are the best and for me indistinguishable from Japanese Schick blades that take forever to get and are expensive to ship to USA from Japan. I only wish they came in aluminum keys and not the plastic key. ( I only started using DE and 1/2 DE about 5 years ago as part of my hobby. I do quite like the High Proof 1/2 DE - maybe because it’s light, mild, and nimble similar to an injector or a cartridge razor. Of the latter, the Gillette Skin Guard is BY FAR my favorite.)

I *just* had a new version of the High Proof delivered, will be trying it soon!

@@shavetutor I have not tried the new version but am very fond of the original one. I’ve heard the new version is a bit more aggressive. I like the original as it is. The magnets for the pivot are elegant. I would like the stronger magnets for the cap. I’ve put a rubber sleeve from One Blade on my High Proof. I wish there were one made that fit it tighter. I bought two btw - one in red and one in black and switched the caps for a two tone look. I kept the black handle with red cap and gave the red handle with black cap to my son. Both look great to me. I’ve done similarly with Henson and Carve Bradley’s.

I have a Henson AL 13 (Original version) and a Karve Overlander - aluminum; both excellent DE razors. I have no plans to use a SE razor.

Of all the injector razors that I've used, I find the vintage Schick Type M adjustables to be my favorite shavers. Type E and G are also very good shavers, but their handles aren't very comfortable compared to the Type M.

I liked the Type O (the last model, made in Japan) myself. :)

I too like the Type M adjustable and the very similar except lacking adjustment Type L which is still available NOS sealed in a can! The Classic is a deeply flawed attempted copy of the Type L - in this we are in complete agreement.

How comfortable to hold and use is that unusual handle on the Hype X1? I am very intrigued by it using strong magnets to hold the head together. I have had a Supply SE for a few years and have enjoyed using it occasionally but my everyday shaver is a Maggards DE.

The Hype takes some getting used to. On the one hand it's not particularly comfortable for me but on the other hand my father-in-law who has arthritis in his hand loves it.

How does a Wilkinson Sword Classic shave with the Astra Superior Platinum blades? Is it a mild shave or an aggressive one? I have irritation on the neck when I go against the grain with the Wilkinson Sword Classic and Gillette Stainless or Gillette Platinum blades.

I am baffled as to why anyone would spend big money on redesigned injectors. There are enough Ever Sharps and other Schick models that nobody should pay more than $15 for an injector, and certainly not for special blades. Before anyone gets mad, I only shave with an Schick or a Straight Razor. DEs and modern cartridges do not get along with me. It is the blade thickness.

Speaking for myself I prefer 'new' razors over vintage razors simply because there are a lot of variables with the condition of vintage razors.
