We like to make interesting car mods and show you how we've gone about it, but we can't promise that anything we show you will work for your particular car, or that you won't harm yourself, someone else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible and unless you know what you're doing, do not fool around with very serious machinery just because you've seen us make it look so easy. @@RandomGuyDan that was always the way when I was a bike mechanic over two decades ago. Working at a dealer, all we did was servicing. It was boring, so I went and worked in one of the dirtiest, crappiest workshops in town. We did everything. Making it the best place to work,

That 3rd bike shop is a bloody legend.. If that was me I'd name drop them to everyone I know as thanks. I love hearing about the ultra rough badass tough guys who do what they can to take care of others. A real man knows how to show compassion without getting self conscious (even if that compassion involves loud swearing :P).. there is nothing tough about making fun of others. I had a similar experience once when I was trying to sell my last bike, just needed a roadworthy and service, was feeling lazy so figured I'd pay for both at once rather than servicing it myself.. and the first shop I went to, helmet in hand, the guy was super condescending and basically pushed me out before I could say why I was there just like Moog's story. He seemed to assume I would be bringing in a cheap broken scooter to his 'fancy' harley and customs shop and just didn't care to talk to me. Second place I go to, full of both street and custom built race bikes from Japan, Italy, Germany, was a small place with only a few people running it but many ongoing projects. Owner meets me in the driveway, I say I'm looking for a quick oil change and a roadworthy to sell it. He just nodded and asked what I was bringing in, as you would expect from a professional.. So I turned and pointed to the bike parked out on the street and he immediately perked up - was a Buell 1125r and he seemed genuinely excited to look over it as they're quite rare here. He gave me an up front dollar figure for the work, showed me where a nearby cafe was and said to come back in 45min. Wasn't even expecting to get a booking same day but as it was a quick job he was happy to do it immediately. Sure enough barely more than half an hour later he rolls back into the shop on the bike and I follow him in, and we chatted about exotic bikes and the quirks of Buells for nearly another 10 mins before we parted ways. For reference to any Brisbanites - Nippon Performance at the Gabba. Been a few years now since I was there but the consistent 5 star reviews speak for themselves, dude's a legend.
@whatsstefon
@whatsstefon 3 года назад
@@MotoCat91 yep, that third bike shop was the one I worked at. Sadly, it no longer exists. Original owner sold it to the bald bikie looking dude. And I think he’s now retired. I had to leave the shop sadly, as I had a few things go wrong health wise, followed by a bike accident that left me learning to walk again, followed by a divorce, and so on. But I remember Jay being a good boss and shop manager when I was at that shop in Alexandria. He looked after everyone.

when you lube up your chain, I suggest you spray the inside of your chain where it runs towards the engine. Then you have several benefits: 1. your not spraying towards your wheels 2. the lube "travels" through your chain by centrifugal force instead of being flung of right away. 3. your rear sprocket will be way less messy. Last but not least do it after riding instead of before. The chain will be warm and the lube will spread much better and the solvents will evaporate until you ride the next time. Again preventing the lube being flung of right away.

Moog and his hoodie is the best thing ever, if it still works it still works. I have a lot of clothes that I have had for over 15 years, some kinda busted (like his hoodie), some still in decent shape, but I just can't get myself to get rid of it. It's wasteful and some have memories/emotional value, I can really appreciate the way Moog does things. @Rose.Of.Hizaki

@@jonathanwright5550 thats just bad business attitude. As a business owner you should be trying to connect with just about everyone that walks in because its not just their future custom but the custom of their friends and their family when they leave the store with a positive experience. If doing that small job means another 5 or 6 people walk through the door with more work for you as result of that guy recommending your services then you have done a great job. I used to do custom system builds and PC repairs as a side hustle a few years back but i stopped because getting parts in was becoming a headache due to the hardware shortages. Dealing with it and paying the silly inflated prices and trying to source other parts just wasnt worth the hassle so I shuttered it. This was about 3 or 4 years ago and im still getting random phone calls from people who got my number from someone else asking if i still do repairs and system builds. I had to do a lot of mundane jobs like cleaning out dirty laptops that were constantly over heating but crap jobs like that got people talking and recommending me to other people.

The worst part about it is that, instead of admitting that small bike repairs don't pay well and that's why they don't wanna work on the bike, they BLAME the guy for not having a "proper bike" and use that as an excuse. Talk about a business having a narcissistic ego and gas-lighting a customer.

When you say 2 speed, do you mean it has 2 total, or is it the high-low gearbox? My '74 CT90 has the high-low gearbox and it's an absolute weapon on the trails. I've never found something it couldn't climb.

There's so many mods for these bikes , including brand new engines with 190cc and 5 speeds , thicker wheels , bigger tyres etc etc Would be cool to see you guys build one of these up to be a street ripper :)

@DISMODEUS

We used to use Lifan engines as upgrades on these and the Z50’s. Other than that, heaps of mods if you know what parts to look for in the world scene. In Australia we weren’t lucky enough to get all the postie type bikes available in the world market. Suspension upgrades were done by importing a few Honda Astrea (front end, disc conversion, rear shocks, swing arm and 2 seater).

@@tightenurscrews the zones zongshen 190cc engines have a good rep , I know someone with 10k on theirs and its been fine , I will say though , they really need a bigger carb that what they normally supply with it really wake it up :)

When Marty mentioned posties getting sick new bikes to do wheelies on it reminded me of the time a postie tried to jump his bilge of a curb infront of my school oval at lunch time. Instead of being a mad sea hunt, he ended up dropping the bike and having a school full of kids laughing at him (pretty sure he was okay. He got up anyway)

Reminds me of a story of when I found myself in a Hell's Angels club house for a party. Not at all my usual company to say the least, but it felt kinda badass. After a few drinks, I casually commented to one of the guys in the party, who was obviously a Hell's Angel, that I also rode a motorcycle but I liked dual sports, enduro, dirt bikes and such better. He looks at the guy to my other side, they both look at each other, say nothing, drag me to a room in the second floor. I played it cool but was kinda scared, like I might have broken a rule or something! We go upstairs, they opened a door, flick the switch and... it was FULL of booze. Like cases and cases of pretty much everything. One of the guys looks at me and says: "Whatever you need... just take it. Any rider is a brother here". What a relief! We had a boozy night and had a great time. They turned out to be such sweethearts in the end.

If you're working on any Japanese bike, the best thing to buy is a set of JIS screwdrivers. Saves you mashing any of the soft screw heads. My JIS Stubby is probably one of the most important things in the toolbox.
