You should put fabric between the soil and gravel to prevent mixing and future settlement issues.

Thank You for watching. This was about 1” of gravel. We compact that in to the soil while compacting subgrade to prevent the compactor from sticking. On this job we are then using Tri-axial drive grid from there up.
