You did such a fantastic job training Brady. He’s so well behaved. We are practicing these techniques a few times a day. I look forward to learn more. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Thank you for the tips! I'm currently training our 8 week old Corgi with a clicker. He's doing an amazing job so far! He tends to bark for attention and I might try out the spray bottle method. Though, I am a little concerned if he creates this negative fear/association with water. We are looking to give him his first bath here pretty soon! Wonderful video!
Thank you for watching! You'll be able to follow along with us in what we do as we socialize and train these puppies. The spray water bottle has never caused any of my other dogs to fear water and it has done a great job in teaching them the command "Quiet." I do have other videos on my site that specifically focus on teaching Quiet. Have you discovered my Playlists? One is about our SVCC Puppy Prep School - you might like that one now with your puppy as well and please join us on our daily adventure for the next 8 weeks as we are sharing daily activities and step by step guidance. Thank you!
Water bottle for “quiet” training can be used anywhere anytime we want our dog to be quiet if he is barking or making noise…is that accurate? Not just in his crate or playpen.
Yes! The water squirt surprises the dog to be be quiet for a moment and then you say, "Yes! Quiet!" But before you get to this point we will teach your puppy that "Yes!" is a good thing - when hearing "Yes!" your puppy will realize I'm supposed to do more of this. There is a layering effect or a pattern / sequence to our training. You will see it unfold as you watch your puppy go through Puppy Prep School with us!
Hello QuTeBug, "Yes" is a marker that tells the dog YES that is what I want you to do. You only say "Yes!" when the dog is doing what you want to do and you give the dog the word and hand signal that goes with the behavior. Keep watching this playlist on How to Train a Puppy and you will see this more clearly. Thank you
