The Australian Army is getting serious about marksmanship training. In conjunction with ATS (Australian Target Systems), Army held a major capability demonstration at Majura Range in Canberra in November and December.

We had nothing like that when I was in the Infantry. We spent most of our days picking up rubbish.

Yeah funny that shit loads of fire and movement drills, patrolling, cleaning weapons (SLR, GPMG M60) emu bobbing lol, heavy long pack marches and the hot shitty range. Steel helmets, no knee padding allowed or any apart from issued wool gloves and Greens. Mmmm no wonder our bodies all stuffed. Plus none of this PC and OHAS Crap. Did what told when told. Or go home. Ahh the hard arse Australian soldier training. Lmao

Nice to see that the Australian Army uses the new Ligthow arms F90 battle rifle 💪💪💪 Greetings from Switzerland ✌

Thanks for viewing mate. You might be interested to hear that F90 is the name given to the civilian/export version of the new rifle. The same rifle in Australian Army service is known as the EF88 (i.e. Enhanced F88). I've seen the new rifle in action and fired a few rounds myself. Our soldiers absolutely love it - no-one has a bad thing to say about it.

modernisation - this type of range range practise should replace all parade and ceremonial training. to get them to train for war.

Sad to say but firing drills may soon be replaced with diversity training.

I train like this once a month, its called multi gun or 3 gun competition over here in nz, used to be legal in Australia till port Arthur massacre changed the laws. still would hate the citizens of Australia to be actually armed and trained. you have 30000 troops thats enough for 25 million plus nz right?

Jaso AR15 I think civie street is well ahead of infantry when it comes ti the availability to hone shooting skills, of course shooting skills aren't all of what makes combat.
@ib3scope
@ib3scope 6 лет назад
Jaso AR15 3gun and competitive shooting, although good for developing viable maniout, dexterity, target aquisition and movement skills, can't replace the specific timing/cadence and chaos (and its manifest implications on the body, e.g. adrenaline fatigue, panic), seen in combat. Thus, to manifest truly readily applicable and functional self-defense, competitive shooting should logically be interfaced and consolidated with force-on-force type training.

@@backtofront5162 well people still do it. But with .22lrs and chassis for there pistols that are still legal. Not with semi auto centerfire.. like in australia too!

@big-irish-git

I don't believe there was simulation there that day. But I have been told that simulation is definitely coming down the pipeline.
@philkelly9011

@MichaelKingsfordGray Simunition is paint based non leathal training ammunition. The simulated range is another thing all together.
@balamclay7871
@balamclay7871 5 лет назад
@MichaelKingsfordGray - Mate, I think you're misreading the key word in the original post, it's "SIMUNITION" (non lethal paint-based ammunition) not "simulation."

@crouchingwombathiddenquoll5641
Governments of all nations around the world train young men to be lethal killers of other humans....... At the bidding of corporate criminals and corrupt politicians. Talk to any veteran that has experienced violent confilct, you will know these men carry real psychological pain for the rest of their lives.

Stuart Bell can’t blame them, but there old discharge and see you later thing is what stuffed many off us up. As we did join them, they didn’t join us.
@crouchingwombathiddenquoll5641
Matt S ,good point. I imagine a lot of young bloke's join up with a nieve idea that they are on a mission to defeat 'evil doers' . Sadly only to find they are a part of an occupying force , fighting the locals that live in the occupied country. Corporate ambition and greed are not a worthy cause for war. Often think if Australia was occupied by a foreign military, would we be labelled terrorist's and insurgents ?

Its not surprising that the Australian soldiers were involved in murdering unarmed civilians in Afghanistan only to earn bragging rights. They were trained on targets dressed like this and they did what they were trained for
