I would like to add a point here. I am in Canada from past 15 years, and it has always been a lucrative option for immigrants around the globe. But what I have noticed in past 4-5 years that Canada literally stopped caring about the "quality" of immigrants coming here. If you observe closely, when we talk about the mass immigration , a very large amount of students/people are actually from Rural parts of Punjab. The Urban population of India or Punjab (cause Punjab is literally the biggest contributor in Canadian immigration) are not that attracted to Canada anymore. Its the rural crowd which still thinks that this is the way to go. The bigger issue is that , they are very hardcore in their ways , and DO NOT want to integrate to Canadian culture. Nor they want to learn and become part of it. In fact they expect the reverse of it, and try to flaunt their "desi" ways and somehow feel proud on it.
Who to blame for the fiasco? The rural Punjabi? Certainly not...Justin Trudeau is the culprit. Now when things have gone out of his control, he is talking about RESTRICTED ENTRY of students.
But how are these rural people getting PRs or student visa to Canada ? We educated ones from south India are struggling from yrs ..is thr a setting between punjabis in Canada and Punjabis in India ?
@@TheFunChallengers the answer is Yes!, I know I will get into lot of heat for this, (probably I will delete this comment later too), but what's happening is that if you look at Canadian government at different levels Federal or provincial, you will see lot of Sikh MPs. Under the hood, They have a huge influence on the immigration trends and policies. (for example NDP leader jag meet singh). Also, Sikhs are already a very large population in Canada. and democracy is a game of numbers. In the past 4-5 years they have made a conscious effort to increase their numbers.
I am earning 80,000 rs./ Month + Living with my joint family + living in my hometown Rishikesh( India) near the bank of river ganga + sorrounded by beatiful himalyan Mountain + with the will of utmost sprituality & Peace all the time . Feeling sorry for so many people who have to leave or leave their Motherland
@rishikesh791 bhai you are blessed to live with family in your own country. Nobody is born with urge to leave everything behind and move out of country. It depends on circumstances. iT Jobs are mostly done for clients who are abroad in USA and Canada so IT workers think why work from India might as well go abroad and earn more. Most IT companies have lot of competition where employees try to go abroad they refer to it as onsite. Lot of politics and fights and exploitation to go onsite. Whoever goes and returns in a year or two manages to save enough to get married or help families. As they live alone abroad at young age it all appears lucarative. Canada is very big country even more land area than India but fraction of population hence they started immigration program to encourage outsiders which resulted in several educated Indians who dream of sendings their children to better school and colleges to migrate. Nobody wants to leave homeland but lack of exaction instructions and reservation in education and govt jobs force people to leave for greener pastures and compromise on their mental health.
Just came back after spending 6 months as PR. Not worth it, I consider myself a person who loves solitude, but the atmosphere is really isolating and depressing. Everybody is running after money and the safety is a concern now.
Good decision. Indians here are struggling here so hard just to get the basic needs met. When you have to work 15 hours just to meet your basic needs something is off. Also, nobody has time here for anyone.
I was looted by a Punjabi cab driver in Canada. I wonder how he even got to Canada and became a citizen ! He couldn’t speak English and demanded extra cash and if wasn’t able to give he was ready assault ! That experience opened my eyes ! This will never ever happen in Dubai ! Thanks am loving to Doha, Qatar.
I don’t have plans to move to Canada or elsewhere in near future.. Randomly came across your video and, honestly this is the most insightful video I have seen on migrant Indians and their plights in recent years. Keep up the good work guys!!
Perfectly summed up the current situation in Canada. 🙌🏼 Things do need to change in certain areas. Specially in regards to immigration. Quality immigration is required. Not mass immigration 🤷🏻♂️
It's heart wrenching to hear how circumstances have changed. When policies or implementation of policies are not suitable, it's time to bite the bullet and take a hard decision. Your friends and family respect your decision, either ways. Thank you for sharing your heart ...all the best
Am leaving canada next month considering the medical conditions here… emergency is actually hell here.. no family doctor available, consider a situation, having a daughter of 1.6 years old having some unfortunate heart ailment and even doctors here saying not to bring her here and start her treatment as indian doctors are far better and skillful to deal with that.. till last month, planning to get my dependents here but now, planning my return and leaving it in emergent situation next month.. very unfortunate!
@gitanjalipatel5032 okay explain? We have Indians coming to the US to see doctors. Having 17 in the family. US if you can't afford medicine, you don't pay. Just walk away.
Shut Up And You Leave . Aap Chahtey Ho Baki sab Leave kar dein Aur Aap Indians Canada mein Reh jao. non Europeans shall leave . Tum Chodo Canada Tum India ko barbad kiye ab Canada ko Kardiye Chal Bhag Canada Sey !@@avijitbasu5789
This is second video of day.. finally shilpa looks like i m back.. I moved last year in Canada but whatever you told is right... Thanks for the perspective..
Good points specially in the end - how many times will you reset your life as this is the very reason why i do not want to move. Was getting a great offee from middle east but i can not deal with the reset, the traffic and expectations of employers to be onsite everyday. Lastly one needs to enjoy time with family and live peacefully as one only realizes the value when he gets to the other side.
I am a Canadian citizen since 1999 and was a Government employee working with OPG. I left in 2010. I feel that Canada does not care about you. They just need warm bodies for their economy to run. So for them immigration is just a business. The Canadian economy runs directly and indirectly due to it. Plus politics is there. The Liberals need voters. Now i have heard that Canada has become unlivable as all the educated and tax paying migrants or citizens are leaving or have left long back in droves. Plus there is racism there. I experienced it and found it unacceptable. This is one thing that does not get discussed. Also please note that the Canadian government is not giving any advisory about this immigration scam that is ruining many lives. Guess why? Do they care for you the Canadian citizen, immigrant or student once you are inside Canada ?(Hint - New Immigrants/students are running the Canadian economy).
That's so true. I am afraid same thing is happening to America about immigration. Everywhere I see Americans are being replaced by non educated immigrants. They are bringing their own culture instead of adapting American culture. America/Canada needs to focus on quality of immigration. Your analysis is perfect ❤
Loved this video honestly, we moved in 2019 and so much has changed since. I think the PR process is still controlled little better but the student visas are out of hand, glad that govt finally put a cap on it. There are so many sham colleges who take more students than they have seat and once students come here, they realize they don’t even have a confirmed spot in college and even after following the process form their side, they are now illegal in a min. So they have to turn to immigration and student lawyers to secure spot somewhere else, spending more money on agents and lawyers. Hope this improves next year, agents in India have made a little too much money benefitting form Canada immigration, it’s high time now.
I don't think these "students" are victim here. They know very well what they are getting into. They deliberately choose that route because it's the easiest way to get into Canada. A lot of them don't even have their own funds to show. They either borrow from relatives or get student loans from the government. Their end goal is to come here and survive off of ethnic eco-chambers and living like sardines in a basement in Brampton/Surrey, etc. This is utterly disgusting and I abhor that we consider these adults victims when all sort of information is accessible on the Internet.
@@Bdawg.I agree! These students and temporary workers all know what they are getting into because their end goal is to just land in Canada and then to migrate to the US illegally if they can't survive here. They blame the system and the Canadian government because they can in a Democratic nation like Canada. The same people can't even ask for basic rights in India. They land here thinking things will work out somehow just like they did for the people they followed on tik tok or instagram when reality is different.
Shilpa, kudos to you and your spirit. You are a true influencer. This video has holistically covered each and every point, at least people will make informed decisions while moving to Canada.
Thank you Amit and Shilpa for sharing these details. And good that you are staying positive and fighting all these challenges. All these issues are temporary and will go away over time. Canada is still one of the best countries in the world and will continue to offer a good quality of life.
My take away from this video.... I am not ready to struggle in my own land but can put up with breadcrumbs from somebody else's land, again I have my own reasons for leaving my motherland & will also justify it ....the case of grass being greener .... I have a lot of expectations from others land & will continue to do so till I find a land which can fulfill all my illusions. I am not ready to invest my energies ie. my intelligence,my education & therefore the power that comes with that in my own motherland but will go outside & give my all but just in case if I feel unsatisfied I will crib.... I find all this highly confusing.... It would be so much better if one would contribute to better one's own motherland which has nurtured us & continues to do so! It almost feels like I want to have the cake & cut it... You definitely have my sympathies ❤
Soft racism against indians is all time high and it feels so depressing to read comments from Canadians against Indians. Furthermore, sorry to say but youths from Punjab has ruined the image of themselves as well as of India ( maybe they're one of the major reasons for this racism).
Exactly, Punjabis and Gujjus have ruined the image of India. Gujjus have started flooding Canada, very recently. This is attributed to the reason that their MIRAGE ( USA) has become very restrictive in admitting foreigners. These GUJJUS are using Canada as a TRANSIT spot to enter USA.
Do better, and stop committing scams and crimes in Canada. Imagine if millions of foreigners flooded into India all at once, dont you think local Indians would have a problem??
Thanks Shilpa n Amit for well explained n crystal clear point of views, it's nice to hear bothe side's perspectives of Canada immigration. Resently I saw reel of Canadian over crowded train station reel, showed the reality as it looked like Mumbai local station.
I am a doctor from abroad and have everything ready to apply for permanent residency, nevertheless, we decided to go back to our country. Even though I have 2 years to stay legally working here. Life isn’t any easier here . And if you are a professional, is easier to win the lottery than being recognized here. Plus systematic racism makes it even harder.
Canada is not for immigrant doctors unless you are from Ireland, UK . Healthcare is Government funded and you won't get residency matching to get your license . I have seen doctors driving taxies, working as security guard and they deserve what they got . Ignorance, laziness is a crime if you want to make a living outside of your home country.
Thank God I came to Australia . Came in 2012, Australian immigration is so strict. Canada should learn from Australia. Our minimum wage rate is $24. Getting PR here is so hard like almost near to impossible. I wish it stays like this here . Great video and may God give some common sense to Canadian Govt.
@@From-Hurt-to-Healing i went thru same harsh process to get it . Once you get it then you understand why hard pr policy is necessary especially after seeing the mess Canada went thru
Loved ur reasons.. they are so on point and so true. Canada is a farce… I hope people who are planning to come from India especially families really do their due diligence and homework and proper research before coming. Now going to Canada is like buying a new car for Indians… padosi ka beta gaya hai to mujhe bhi Jana hai
Loved the video and lot to learn from you guys! Glad you didn’t stick to your initial view and decided to make a video when the ideology changed. Well done!!❤
Crime has gone up since immigration went up. Canada is the most amazing place to live but no proper immigration control is ruining our country. The government needs to put up the sign “Canada is closed”
Highly agree with the unplanned immigration policy that Canada has!! I have recently immigrated to Canada and I can see how difficult it is to get a job her, even with having a masters degree and 10 years work experience back in Delhi, still it’s a struggle to find a job here. But I also agree with the last statement that Amit made, challenges are everywhere in the world, we should be strong enough to take up the challenges. If not Canada, then there are struggles in other countries too. We just need to have a clear goal.
You and Your "Diasporas" Have Ruined it . You are all just Money Lickers running from one place to other for Money . (It's a Different thing that after settling you all act In the most hypocrite way possible and Say "India is the Best")
Shilpa and Sir ji, I don't follow you but stumbled upon this video. I have been living here for last 6 years and every word u mentioned is so damn true. Having living here for sometime I still couldn't connect the dots, but you guys are spot on. Very well presented, I m sure this will help people making informed decision as you mention.
Good Morning Shilpaji, Amitji, Amy❤ Very Informative & Helpful, Thank You Both🙏🏼. True Said " Instead of RESET, Its very Better to face the Challenges whatever it be".
Get CANADIAN CITIZENSHIP and move to THE USA. USA is the only country in the world with unlimited opportunity. No country can match the quality of jobs available and the salaries in the USA. Move to canada for a few years just so that you can easily move to the usa . Staying on h1b in the usa is very uncertain. Dubai is good for few years and for few people. But usa is best.
Thanks Shilpa & Amit for the video. This is infact the reality in Canada. You left Dubai for Canada & Dubai has got better each year. Now you have the option of a 10 yr golden visa + it is closer to India. Dubai is the safest place for women & kids. Great schools. Wish you the very best & stay safe. Cheers!
Bro i lived in dubai saudi with really good income but moved to usa now unplanned but no regrets UAE you are just on visa to visa life 2nd class or 3rd class citizen not wort it man
Only people who have lived in uae know the actual reality and struggle. Not all what shines is gold. Dubai is good for travel and tourism but long term think about somewhere better. Lot of negatives in dubai , which only people living there and have lived will know.
I would like to thank you for creating this video, you shared the honest and transparent ongoing situation. Can you make a video like it, to which country to migrate?
As we said, every country has its own challenges, not every country is welcoming and spreading arms to make new people settle in fast..One needs to pick up their own challenges..
I am 66 , I had to take my ill wife to emergency at the Peterborough hospital about 3 months ago. After sitting for 2.5 hours in an over crowded emergency room, I asked how much longer before we see a doctor. We were told by a nurse it would be another few hours at least and it could be up to 5 more hours after that to see the specialist she needed. So the wait could be 10.5 hours, we waited 2 more hours, then we got up and left. If we ever go back it will be in an ambulance. But to be honest We are done with this broken, rotting health care system. I blame the bum that has destroyed this country and destroyed the Canadian health care system.
We moved back to India, just a month back, after living 6 years in GTA. Well settled with great IT jobs. The main reason we left, as you correctly outlined was cold and Healthcare. Along with social isolation. Along with the fact that we like our lives in india much better. We carried on the same lifestyle here in Canada, road trips, going to bars and restaurants but somehow India waali memories always overruled and we found India so much better in comparison. We had high end car (land rover), which was one of our goals of coming to Canada but frankly, it is of no fun driving these admist such strict rules and snow. We came for even better prospects or work culture in IT industry. Unfortunately, that sucked big time Canada as well! We got internal transfer to the same companies in India and honestly, the culture is so so different and lively in India. All these reasons and we have moved back to India. Hope this helps
@rohanutep81 so? You think canadian passport holds that much importance??!! You will be sadly mistaken. There are no freebies in life. You on the other hand can start appreciating the fact that there exists some educated people who are willing to follow their hearts even after a settled, very well paid life in Canada. That too severing all ties with Canada. Passport is merely a document which will be of no use to us, in any way or form. We held US and Schenegan visas on our Indian passports and once again hold that position whenever we take back the Indian citizenship so I don't know what are you cribbing about.
That was a good sum up !!! I wont be surprised to see you guys moving back to Dubai on a Golden Visa. If I had a daughter, I would have caught first flight back to Dubai. I lived in UAE between 2015 to 2022, the more I stayed there the more I loved it, but for the same reason as yours, I applied for Canada PR. The more I am staying in Canada the more I am hating it. Lets see what future holds...work culture in Dubai was horrible but overall life was good, its exactly the other way round here.
Everyone talks about immigration from Punjab. They are not the only problem. ( poor students are already robbed by immigration consultants back home)The housing crisis is more by the wealthy Chinese who are buying properties left right centre with their black money. Agree with your points. Canada is a small economy really small as compared to India. But India had its own problems inspite of good salaries.
Obviously, no place is an utopia... wake up! Running from one dystopia to another dystopia in the making is just delaying the obvious. No short cuts to heaven... and no free rides!
You must move down to Massachusetts best of the best period ! Lived all US and Canada and final assessment Massachusetts so 35 years experience for free !
Yes you both are right, how many times you will reset and restart your life, somewhere you have to set. Money is not only the matters.. Yes we should have good income but at the same we should see all the pros and cons based on our previous and current life as long as we are comfortable and happy with it.., everyone's life is different and why we should copy others.
Liked your point.."How many times can you reset your life?"...guess migration and reverse migration is a way of human beings trying to find meaning in their lives...
I totally attest to healthcare crisis… so trueeee… my daughter was on a waitlist for a paediatrician for two years and even after two years the paediatrician will only see if there is a major concern…
Aap logo ne video shuru kiya toh dara hi diya… lekin towards the end of the video I was relieved sahi bat h challenges har jagah hain… its on us hum kaunsa challenge face krna chahte kaunsa nahi ❤
Thank you Shilpa and Amit for the insightful podcast. Our family situation is similar to yours, in that we are planning to move from Saudi Arabia to Canada. Currently, there are challenges everywhere in the world, even in the Middle East. There is survival of the fittest.
Hi I heard KSA is growing and they are opening up to world with less stringent rules. Recently they started Alcohol shop. Also there are mega projects happening like The line. I think KSA will grow so please think before moving. After all you know your situation better than me.
@@rahul91ify ground realities are v different than what media shows to you. Nationalization of jobs is in full swing. They are growing fast, its true but most jobs are for nationals only
Thank you for making this video and sharing main reasons of why so many people leaving Canada. I will also add that increasing discrimination and racism can be seen when it comes to employment in Canada. Unequal treatment of people with different nationalities and cultural background is also making everyone hopeless to have good life in Canada
Discrimination has always been there and thanks for bringing it up. I was in an excellent Government job and I had a degree from Queens University too (Masters) and a P.Eng. ; but m government employer did not promote me. Infact when i asked them to promote me after 10 years they became hostile. I was career oriented was my problem i guess.
True. I have given so many interviews where I cleared 3 rounds of interviews and after the final round they don’t even gave feedback why I was rejected but somehow I got to know they want people who has citizenship, PR or should have atleast 5 years of Canadian experience.
Bang on . I am in this country for 21 years and mass immigration have killed this country . Honestly considering to move. This is no longer the country which it used to be.
I migrated to Canada two decades ago. This country has changed overnight. Specially post covid Canada has become completely miserable & unaffordable. Current Canadian regime is responsible for making Canada dumping ground of incompetent & unqualified immigrants. This government is just bringing their vote bank other than quality & skillful people. Canada is not a developed country rather a third world country where people are living in misery. Just a friendly advise that don't come to Canada otherwise you won't have anything other than regret.
Nice " deeep analysis of a very hot topic ", born in India, brought up in Karachi, studied in Hawaii USA, immigrated to Canada, have seen it all, since 1968 been in USA & Canada, this IS the-best environment for us....what a journey....DO NOT focus on petty issues and be grateful for everything.....LIFE GOES ON....keep smiling all 3 of you......
But whatever is mentioned in video is the harsh reality and I totally concur with them. Some people in India may think it’s glorified life in Canada, however it’s not atleast for initial days. One should be smart enough to know how to make their place
Good explanation and right points... but as you said humain soch samajh ker future goals ko consider kerke jana chaheye kahin bhee... we are very clear in our head while moving to Canada, and I am always open to accept challenges and make my own space ;) ... Got our PR cards, so moving in soon and settle ... soon mulaqat hogi this spring time
Nice video. But the very important point you are missing here is the education system. Even the private schools are not up to the mark. The specializations itself are basic on higher levels. Maybe you should dig in that direction. And another area to go deeper would be the PPP(purchase power parity) while dealing with inflation questions. Amit might want to explain that to the viewers. Hopefully you will address these issues in upcoming videos. Great work anyways. Missed our cutie pie in the video. Just the glimpse of her brightens the whole video.
Very real picture of Canada and Toronto especially. Before I used to hear people talking about immigration being the main issue but I used to think they were just a bit right wing people. But now, it is making sense. Canada welcomed way too many people than it could handle! And yes, car theft, every morning I checked if my car is still on my driveway! It’s becoming a challenge in every way….
I love the fact that you pointed out the basic point “India is not just about high paying jobs, India is not only about metro cities”. People out here say cost of living is so high, they should go to India and see the cost of things in India. And then they say oh that is okay because people are earning 50 lacs package. If that is the comparison point then that same person should have the talent to crack down a 130k package atleast here in Canada. Basic point is one shouldn’t come to Canada with the idea of earning crazy amount of money, for that US should be the choice.
I came to canada for growth as back then, IT market and salaries were different then what it is righ now, but now considering canada and India's growth and other factors that you shared, I have already thought of moving back to India. I feel that even if somehow I'll buy any property here, I won't get appreciation that I can get in India now onwards, So even after living in canada , I cannot even think of buying house. Now canada is not land of opportunity or growth anymore and most people that I have met have this reason to move back to India or even move to USA
Hello, If one has completed an MBA in HR from India and has 5 years of work experience, are there good opportunities available for them in canada ? In terms of salary will they get enough to lead a decent life in Canada or should they continue in India itself. It will be really helpful if someone with knowledge in this domain can share few insights
Well done! Did a good job pointing out a particular community without mentioning them 😜😜😜 Its time for move Trudeau and bring some mature, sensible PM.

In Crux - bad leadership and poor policies. I totally agree with your point that how many times you will reset/restart. 1000% agree with Amit, every country has its own challenges so face them. People left India then left Canada and even they won’t be happy once they are back. Nice video ❤good job
Love/agree with this video. Each point was detailed yet crisp. Also, the ending. You both killed it🍻🍻 PS - living in Canada for 7 years and can feel the changes. But it's a churn the country is going through, Canada will come back in its glory will take time but it will.
U r 1000 % right . Sabsay bda reason yehi hai . Unplanned immigration which inturn triggring everything. But yeh woh canada nahi hai joo hum nay dekha hai.
Marijuana , SOGI teachings in schools, LGBTQ+ , Housing unaffordable, low paying jobs, lower standards of living are few reasons not to call Canada same as before.
The Homeless alley is not due to legalization of weed. That is coke and meth things. Also daaru toh pehla se legal thi na who controls what u drink? So if u legalize something doesn;t mean people will over consume it. it actually helps people buy good quality, chemical free and make informed decision on the product.
Certainly true... but what I have observed in my locality and circle... who has done marijuana and other recreational drugs.. They all have agreed that - Weed is the door to trying other drugs.. My friends who only consume alcohol and Cigarettes have never took any ither recreational drugs.. like Brown Sugar etc.. but my friends and people I known who have consumed weed for quite a long time.. they all have tried other recreational drugs atleast once... One of my seniors died due to overdose of BS. and his classmate is now on the same route.. in short : IMO Weed is the door to try other recreational drugs.
Are u talking about toronto or total canada, why do u live in toronto? i lived in montreal and things were lot better outside toronto btw i moved back to india rejecting citizenship after getting pr 2014 and i sensed this long back 😂 following my heart
"greed" For Greed You leave India as the Greedy have Ruined it, then You Go to The Good nations like Canada and Ruin it, Indians and Their Greed for Money, There are No Patriotic Values in Indians, and After settling In Foreign Land they start Chanting "Bharat Mata ki Jai" again Not patriotic to the new Country which Feeds but To This Country you left.
CHALLENGES - how will you face challenges against Crime, drugs and healthcare. Excellent video with all good points. I understand you want to stay positive and share positive vibe, but just sharing my opinion that there a few situations which are not in our control and which forces people to consider leaving than facing & suffering the consequences. Hey Shilpa, you have explained reality very well and in fact same reality in Australia as well reverse immigration happens toward the end of retirement as medical is expesive and doctors are not available when you need it whereas in India you can just walk in to visit the doctors. I'm based in Australia and have planned to move back to India after 10-15 years
