The Ascent body is actually a bit different than the regular Kaiju body. We downsized it 10% then added the flares and other details, so if you're trying to 3D print the Kaiju pieces, you might have to downsize them by 10% in the slicer. Haven't personally tried it yet though. Great thorough review!
That's called a dovetail. I've never heard anyone in my life call it a boat tail. That would mean it's normal size in the rear if referring to a boat lol. A doves tall is what it looks like not a boat "tail" lol. I think you made that word up😂
@@EverythingOutdoors951 It comes from my experience with weapons and bullets. A lot of your rifle bullets will be spitzer pointed in the front, and boattailed in the rear.
@@JD-tl7ld well this is RC and nobody in my 4 years of rc crawling said that. So it's not an RC term like you said. Even my friends and I deal with guns that crawl RC but nobody has ever said that. It's because it resembles a doves tail actually so we only use that term. The rear end doesn't look Like a bullet so it just makes no sense to most people
@@EverythingOutdoors951 They may not use that term in RC, but it does resemble a boattail bullet. Smaller at the front, wider in the middle, and tapering to a boattail in the rear. I could see dovetail being used. A dovetail is also smaller on both ends, while being wider in the middle. While you have never heard boattail being used in RC, I have never heard dovetail being use either.
Appreciate the info about the 3D grill! Nice to see a company offer a REASONABLY priced performance crawler. I don't care about "branding" of bodies etc for a performance crawler. Plus I think the bodies they have for this look good. Thanks for the review!
I'm trying to be patient while waiting for my blue one to become available for delivery. Watching all these videos of people running one is making it difficult. Can't wait to make it a little bit better and customized.
I own nothing but redcats...... I have the ridge Rock, gen 7 gen 8 and a 1st gen kaijuon 6s it's a small 1/8 scale with the 10th scale body only in blue it looks like same body as your sweet ride. I'm going to order the body from this ascent asap. Redcat really did a good job at fair price. As far as I'm concerned they're getting better every year 👍🏻 btw had kaiju 2 years my first basher and I'm proud to say in behalf of redcat I've had zero problems 💪🏻 I've also upgraded everything you can buy in metal aluminum. With super big 5th scale tires a million times better then stock 💪🏻 ty for all you do for us RC hobbiest to learn. I also hot glue locked center diff. Handles like it's on rails😅
Today I had a message from Redcat they where back in stock so I went right over to the website & ordered it. I’m putting in the back underdrive & place order for the lower priced Hobbywing 2/1 combo & metal beadlocks & new tires. Probably going to use Flysky 5 for a receiver & radio.
I was waiting for your review of this truck. My first ( and only 1/10th scale ) is the Redcat Gen 8 Axe edition. Over the last 2 years, I have beat the crap out of it, and it is one of the best RC's I own. This truck is a great base model to start someone off, but the lack of serious modulation in low speed ( not brushless ) means one of the first changes will be the motor/ESC, pretty costly. By the time an average hobbyist mods this up, it will be about the same price, or more. Love your review, and the lights are killer !! Again, at the price point, it is a great starter rig, no doubt !!
I really wish Redcat had partnered with Hobbywing and supplied the Ascents with a Fusion SE like the Axe units. As far as waterproofing the receiver, Redcat has some of the best receiver boxes I have seen.
@@RCGirl some of the places I crawl at have a "stock" class which doesn't allow any changes in motor type. If your truck came with a brushed motor you have to run a brushed motor. I think an Ascent with a Fusion would do very well in these classes.
Very interested in this rig …I’ve got a few redcat crawlers and very pleased with them…..nobody has this new ascent in stock…back order from Redcat… I don’t understand why these companies don’t have a good supply of stock when they release these new vehicles?
I really like the new redcat , i like y'alls mtb's too , I've been taking a crawler in my backpack out on the trails a few days a week this year and its really been fun 😊
I think if I get the new Redcat Everest, those wheels are definitely going to come off for some metal ones with beadlocks and I would get some tires with some soft foam in them. Maybe some Pro-Line Baja Pro X tires would look great on this thing.
Nice crawler from RedCat, stepping up there game. If this same truck was manufactured from another more reputable source, you would be sure to pay more for it imho. In fact, you have to spend more on tweeking a better truck to your driving preference anyway Ex: axial base camp or Traxxes TRX- 4 sport. This truck gets you in the game, its a nice looking, the price is fair and the options are limitless. Honeslty whats not to like. Enjoyed the vid.👍
Do you feel the front links are on wrong? Others have mentioned the curve part is suppose to be vertical rather than sideways for a high clearance link.
Mine came broke and I also brought a extra clear body that came with a huge scratch and no decals at all I contacted redcat no reply iv tried a few times ill never buy another redcat
We missed the girl that used to fly airplanes in her videos lasted 5 two 10 minutes long. Nowadays for videos last about 60 second s and all we get to see is her opening abox whatever happened to you and mountain Mike flying airplanes????
I'm not liking blue anything anymore. Red, green, brown, purple, orange anything but blue. Red is good. I won't buy a blue rc car or truck for any reason.
I purchased one and noticed the antena is not sticking up it is wound up near the chassis. Is this ok? I don’t see a hole for the antena to go thru either?
That's a nice looking truck you have there , I recently bought a Redcat international scout 11 , you don't see to many redcats over here in the UK 🇬🇧 but I spotted it on eBay a couple of weeks ago at a crazy cheap price so I grabbed it , boxed with everything you would get from new , plus a good charger gens ace lipo and it's !Ike new , I painted a Hilux body in yellow and it's gorgeous, I love how simple it is so different from the more complex trx4 and traction hobby types , it sounds like your car there with a load gear sound runs great and climbs like a mountain goat , I should of bought one years ago , I wish I could show you how the body turned out definitely one of my favourite trucks , love the videos you do , stay safe RCG 🇬🇧
A classic pick up style shell floats my boat that's for sure! Heck, I've just ordered an HPI 1979 Ford F-150 shell for my recently acquired Traxxas E-Maxx! But the chassis and different features of this truck are super impressive too! Thought personally I would prefer the battery weight nearer the front. A really well priced truck.
Pretty cool Redcat is going with Budget friendly Rcs stuff is so expensive anymore i always have to hear how expensive stuff is getting now a days and it gets very annoying to hear love your videos been looking for a good crawler cant wait to get it. Love your videos.
Not for nothing but I don't see this truck being better than my Redcat Everest 10 nor my Gen8 V2, I suppose if it had four wheel steering I might be interested but as it is now I wont be buying this nor am I going to buy the new Traxxas TRX4M Ford F150. Its ground clearance seems to only out class other Traxxas 1/18's I have other 1/18's like the Evo Harvest which has almost double the ground clearance and for less money so I can now maneuver those funds for something else, thanks for the information RC Girl.
