Yes, credit card points are very useful….however since I don’t work for an airline I use mine for flying! Just got round trip on Air Canada Business class to Argentina 🇦🇷 / Brazil 🇧🇷…..very happy :) Hope Covid is gone or at least down for the count by next Christmas!
Thanks for watching! I mean I guess you could interpret it as 1 calendar day and maybe they won't check the timeline, but I'm not willing to take that risk. We interpret 1 day as 24 hours.
We are traveling to London next week and are bringing the government approved home tests, who has to verify that those tests show a negative result? I also did print out an attestation form, is that enough proof to get on the plane back to the us?
Glad you made it home safe even with all the delays! You guys are very with it for 24 hours of travel time-I usually go completely nuts by hour 16 😂 To re-enter the US it is one calendar day before takeoff! Not that that information did us good on our last trip after my husband tested positive in Turkey just hours before we were supposed to catch our flight home 🤭
Oh no! did you have to stay in Quarantine and extra week? Hopefully that didn't cost you too much extra. That is a worry that we have had while traveling. Interested to hear how that all worked out for you....
@@TheAwkwardTourists it was a complicated situation, but my husband did have to quarantine in out hotel in Istanbul. Luckily for us (1) Turkey isn’t super strict like some countries so as soon as he was able to test negative (5 days in), he could leave and (2) we have covid travel insurance which covered ALL the additional expenses which was a huge relief! We are working on a vlog of the whole debacle 😅
Personally I'm not too into the Marriott card, the elite benefits just aren't as good and with the card I have I get a free night, but it's only worth 25k points and there are hardly any Marriotts with nights for 25k points haha
If we get lucky! Lots of times it doesn't work out that way and we don't even get on a flight. With the flight benefits we have it is only space available, meaning if there are no empty seats, we don't get on. One time I was stuck in Chicago for 3 days trying to catch a flight to California.
As of 12:01AM ET on June 12, 2022, CDC will no longer require air passengers traveling from a foreign country to the United States to show a negative COVID-19 viral test or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before they board their flight. Posted on the CDC website
As Covid restrictions are always changing, we recommend checking official channels a few days before your trip. We wouldn't want to give you wrong or out of date information.
I've traveled so much during the pandemic, actually during the pandemic is the most ive traveled in my life and i honesty feel so lucky to have been able to. I've learned so much and grown up a lot faster during all this stress. I'm glad so many are vlogging this crazy time, makes everyone feel less alone. Loved this vlog! I subbed! //Maria
I don't know if it was true in Jan, 2022, but NOW (May, 2022) there are "home" Covid tests that you can take with you which will work to get into the US and other countries as well. The trick is that all aspects of the test must be "medically observed". Meaning that the whole test procedure (from opening the kit to the final result) is watched by medical personnel over a video chat. There are also "home" Covid tests that suffice for boarding cruises.
We've heard that, so convenient! I don't know if they had that a few months ago when this was filmed, or else we hadn't heard of it. We'll have to keep that in mind for our next trip!
@@TheAwkwardTourists We’ll be trying it out in a couple of weeks. We gave a week+ in Switzerland followed by a 12 day cruise from Barcelona around to Copenhagen. 🤞our tests are all negative.
They check your test results before you board your return flight to the USA. Most airports have testing facilities in them now, but if you can't find them at the airport, a quick google search will let you know of the facilities. They test everywhere these days
Just discovered your channel. Loving it! Definitely would like to hear about cc point options as I am an amateur with that but would like to up my travel-on-points game.
Awesome! Thanks for following along! We use CC points a ton (especially for our last trip to the Maldives) so check out that video. Stay tuned for more!
You can, but it has to be verified by a doctor, so you have to do a zoom meeting kinda situation. I would recommend just getting one at the airport a few hours before checking in, they are sometimes free, an if not free, they are relatively affordable
When going into Netherlands did they make you quarantine if you come from a another European country even though initially your flight was from the US?
No they didn't make us quarantine. Our flight was coming from Poland, that's where we had been for the last week as we were ultimately flying back to the US
At the time, yes, Just a negative covid test before you check in. Depending on your vaccination status and nationality you might have to quarantine on arrival. Things are changing quickly though so who knows what the regulations will be in a month. Best to just stay up to date with the US immigration website
Hi, great vlog! CAn you please precise the Covid testing… can I just take the flow covid test instead PCR? If I fly at 9am when should I do the test? Thanks!
Never heard of a flow test, but we just flew back into the US again from another trip and we needed a rapid antigen within 24 hours of our departure flight
@@TheAwkwardTourists Hi, im planning to visit NY soon just wanted to ask you who will check the status of my vaccination, the airlines before i board the plane or the authorities in NY airport when i arrive?
